Ipod nano fell into pool

Help! I dropped my ipod nano for about 15 seconds into my pool. Turned it off, set it upright on a paper towel to draw water out. Waited about 10 minuted and tried to turn on again, but it wouldnt. Should I have waited longer? Some say try to remove cover and dry, dont know about that. Some say dry in low setting in oven, dont know about that either. Should I just give it more time?
Thanks, Jeannean

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Sorry to hear of your woes. I don't think rushing this in an oven is a good idea.
Personally I'd leave it several days in a warm place to dry it out thoroughly and then try it again.

  • My iPod Touch Fell Into The Tub!

My iPod Touch fell into the tub. Within 1 to 2 seconds I got it out immediately. It was on when it fell into the tub. After retreiving it I set it on the floor and turned it off. After completing my errands I set it on the nearby stand. As I was finishing up I saw a flash of light go on and off. For the last couple of days I thought it was just completely dead until I figured out that if you press the "home/menu" button and swipe your hand where the "unlock screen" should be you hear the click. You can also hear the click when I turn my iPod off. Also, I have put it in extreme lighting and tilted it a certain way and could see the home menu with all the different apps. You have to strain to see that. I could make out the utilities button and clicked on it to see if adjusting the brightness would help anything. It is up the whole way and it doesn't make a difference. The screen is still as dark as can be. I clicked on the music button and chose the nearest song and it played perfectly. I have also clicked on apps and you can hear the noise even though the screen is so dark that you have to strain to see anything and put it under the brightest light in the world. Please help!!! I'm not exactly sure what the problem is exactly. The screen isn't cracked or anything like that.
THINGS THAT HAVE NOT WORKED ON FIXING MY IPOD
    1. Nearest Apple Store is WAY out of my way.
    2. Tried adjusting the brightness.
    3. Put in a bowl of uncooked rice. (I'm sure there wasn't any water in it to begin with.)
    4. Pressed home/menu button and sleep/power button at same time and 8 to 15 seconds in released sleep/power button while still holding the home button and released.
    5. Updating iTunes software.

Even though you don't believe water enter into it, the fact that it's not working properly confirms that it did get wet inside. It apears that the LCD panel backlight is not functioning. the only cure for this is to have the LCD panel replaced. Hopefully nothing else will fail later due to the water damage. Hope this Helps.

  • HT3302 My iPod Touch fell into the washer and now does not start. What can I do to fix it?

My iPod Touch fell into the washer and now does not start. What can I do to fix it?

    If it is totally dry:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Does the new ipod nano fit into the apple docking station the same as the former ipod nano?

I have an apple docking station and I know that the ipod nano is thinner but other than eprhaps being a little wobbly does it fit into the same socket as the original ipod nano?
    Thanks

You need the lightning-to-30-pin adapter. Get it from an apple store.

  • Ipod nano fell down

    Hi!
I have recently bought an ipod nano.
I accidently dropped it down once...although its wirking fine...yet I am worried if this will affect ipod's hardisk in time to come?

Kinda funny how yours sustained no damage. You're very lucky. Mine was tightly bundled in it's thick, cushy, leather case with the headphones tightly wrapped around the outside when it fell approx. 3 or 3&1/2 feet and slid a little (it was dropped by a child). Now it's dead as a mackrel and I'm told I'm SOL. Huh?
I read all about the testing that was done by those guys and that's what sold me on the Nano. Heck, they didn't even have a case o the thing! I thought it was tough and could handle being bounced around in a pocketbook and such. I'm extremely disappointed because it was in a very protective case in it's fall and should have been fine especially according to the tests those guys performed. Needless to say I'm extremely suprised.
I recommend being extremely careful with it in the future or you may be SOL also.

  • My ipod nano goes into sleep mode automatically and the music pauses

    Hi,
The music on my Ipod Nano 6th, automatically stops after a minute. I have to go to the sleep/wake up button, then press play to start the music again.
Is there any way to stop this. Is this happening because I have activated the watch on my home screen.
    Thanks.

Make sure your headphones are plugged all the way in, meaning there is no silver still showing from the headphone's plug.  You should hear a sort of popping/clicking noise when you have fully seated the headphones.  If that isn't the case, make sure the headphone jack is clean and clear of debris.

  • IPod nano turned into a vegetable

So, the story is quite simple - I've been a complete idiot. I have accidentally formatted my iPod nano (on a PC running Windows), and now, it does not show up in iTunes. It appears in the Finder (I'm running a mac now) as a removable drive. An empty one. Is there anything that I can possibly do?
I've tried restarting it (holding down the center and the menu keys at the same time), did not work.

  • Help! Nano fell in pool! Any hope?

I recently jumped in the pool after mowing...with my nano clipped on me!! Once I realized it was attached to me, I quickly put it in a closed room, turned on a dehumidifier, and left it for two days in hope it would dry out and magically work. Nope. Is there anything to do now or is it a lost cause? It is less than a year old...I am guessing this isn't covered in warranty?
    Message was edited by: shellsinthehouse

no the accidental damage of jumping in the pool is not covered in the warranty. All that can be done is to lay it on a table on top of a towel and let it sit for 2-3 weeks not day. Do not connect it to any energy source like a wall charger or computer. After this period it might still not work 100 % . After this period of time it might be a lost cause to have a normal ipod. And do not use a hair dryer on it!

  • PC automatically shutsdown when I plug my iPod nano 4g into the computer

I've only been able to sync my iPod once, but every other time I plugged it into my computer, a blue screen automatically pops up saying that it's going to shutdown unexpectingly, any ideas? I'd like to update my iPod again some time soon

I've never heard of it.  Here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Can I download iTunes to a gateway laptop and pull up my library from it a as well? My ipod nano 7thgeneration is staying "do not disconnect" when I plug it into the USB in my truck. I am using the USB cord that it came with.

i had my iPod nano plugged into the USB in my truck about a week ago and it worked. All I had to do was press the AUX button. I went to use it yesterday in my truck and the iPod says do not disconnect while my truck says audio player not found. I called apple support and he said my iPod needs to be restored, so I need to retransfer the music from my library onto my iPod again. Downfall, I no longer have access to an apple laptop because my brother lost the cord to his. Please help.

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • IPOD Nano Won't Turn On- Water

Nano fell into water briefly -- grabbed immediately.
Immediately tried to turn on, it failed to turn on. Hours later, plugged into computer for charging and it still wouldn't turn on. Did not charge and heard a very low sizzling sound while plugged in. Removed after a few seconds. Perhaps moisture being heated?
Should we plug back in and hope any remaining moisture is dried by the procedure or perhaps open the IPOD? I don't think it is intended for the user to open the IPOD.
    Options?
My daughter 14 sure would like to know-- because it will be her expense. <grin>
IPOD NANO 2GB   Windows XP Pro   Not relevant

You've pretty much murdered it - you shouldn't of turned it on or connected it for at least a week. Looks like your daughter is out of pocket. Water and electronics don't mix to well

  • My daughter has tried to charge her ipod nano 6 on an imported italian computer and it has frozen the iPod...unable to do anything on it at all. screen currently says 'OK to disconnect.' No buttons work..HELP :+) ????

My daughter has inadvertantly tried to charge her iPod nano 6 into an imported laptop. It has completely frozen all action.
I have tried to hold - button or main button for suggested 8 seconds to RESET the iPod to no avail. SUGGESTIONS ?? :+)

    Myelo,
Have you tried restting your iPod?
You can do so by toggeling the hold switch back and forth a few times, and then holding the menu and the center button in for 5-10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.
    Kind regards,
    Ms Daisy

  • IPod nano needs iTunes 7, but I can't install iTunes 7

    Hello there.
I got my first Mac on Thursday, and I love it.. so far. It's an old iMac DV Special Edition. It's running OS X 10.2.8, and it has 128MB RAM. Now, I went to plug my iPod nano 2G into it, and it said that I needed iTunes 7. Well, when I googled iTunes 7 requirements, too see if I could run it, it said that it needs 10.4. Now, is there any way I could get my iPod to show up on my iMac and be able to manage my music, photos, etc? Or will I have to do it on my PC. I would rather do it on my iMac, but if it's not possible without upgrading my iMac, I understand.

New to itunes managed to download a song to laptop but cant get on to ipod nano(plugged into laptop) or iphone or ipad

    I have sorted it myself!!
Ipod is now in the top right corner, last time I clicked on it, it ejected it but by clicking on the actual ipod icon then it brings up your ipod. I restored it to factory settings and synced all my music and it now works again. Hope this can help anyone who ends up with the same problem.
