IPod Nano... Full?

Alright so I have a 2gb iPod nano first gen and I gave it to my sister because I got a new one, but before I gave it to her I had like 400 songs on it so I wiped it out. Now she has it and its already full but she only has like 180 songs... So I went to iTune to see if I could figure something and I looked on that first page that comes up when your iPod is connected
this...

  • Ipod Nano full - no songs displayed

    Dear nano-users,
I bought the nano just 7 days ago,
first I experienced the disconnect problem, that even if i eject the nano on the display of the nano it told me not to disconnect.
Then I put the software update on it.
Now I don't see the nano on itunes displayed anymore.
Nor does Itunes start up, when I connect the nano by usb.
    Even worse:
On the nano display there aren't any songs anymore!
    'About'-menu: 0 songs, capacity 3.7GB, available 51.1 MB
I did a reset several times on the nano - but didn't change anything.
Now at the moment I can't use it at all.
Your comments or any help highly appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you have iTunes 6.0.4 and iPod Updater 2006-03-23.
Try putting your iPod into disk mode before connecting and attempting the restore.

If you are not able to restore your iPod nano, try connecting it to your computer and waiting for your iPod to become recognized by Windows.
Once it is recognized by Windows, open up My Computer and look for either an Apple iPod or a Removable Disk. Right click on it, then click on format, then click on quick format, then click on start.
Usually, when you do this, your computer will become really slow to respond to your commands. It's important to be patient with it, and not to click on the same thing too many times. Doing so will only make the process take longer.
    Best wishes,
    CG
P.S. I've been hearing a lot of talk about problems with the iPod nano and the latest updater. Apple's tech support is fee-based, but you do get 1 free call within the first 90 days. If you're not able to resolve this issue through the steps above, you might want to consider giving them a call about this. Make sure you get your case number from them before they end the call, though, in case you have any more problems regarding this issue.

  • I have an ipod nano, and an HP laptop. I've purchased music from the itunes store, as well as down loaded most of my cd's to the library. My question is: how do I get all this music into my Samsung smart phone?

I've spent the last 6 months purchasing from the istore and downloading CD's to my library, in preparation for a 6000km cruiser trip on my motorcycle this summer. Only to find out that I cannot download from itunes to my Samsung smart phone. Does anyone know why, or does anyone know how? I called Mac tech support and they told me it cannot be done, I have to purchase an iphone. Please help, I've got 2000 songs for the trip and a bluetooth headset in my helmet. I own an ipod nano full of the same songs, but of course Mac made it so you cannot blue tooth a nano, so I have to use my phone.
    Thanks ahead of time!
PS  Keep your instructions rather simple though please, I'm 60 yrs old!

iTunes and Apple's devices work as an ecosystem. iTunes is designed to sync with Apple's products, not anyone else's. You'll need your songs in a format compatable with the Samsung phone and to use the software transfer program supplied/recommended. It is essentially not an Apple/iTunes problem. You may have better luck finding the information you need on Samsung's forums.

  • Nano Full With MP3's On A New PC

I just ordered a Dell. It's on it's way.....The problem is that i got an Ipod Nano full with songs. Is there a way of using the Nano on the new computer without deleting the songs on my ipod?Help!

Connect your iPod to your current computer and change the update setting to "manually manage songs and playlists":
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
If you haven't access to the old computer take care when connecting to the new one and an empty iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually

  • Ipod nano turning on randomly

    Hi
My ipod nano 6th gen keeps turning the screen on when paused. This means the battery runs out really quickly.
I've tried resetting and restoring it but this hasn't helped and there are no alarms or calendar events on it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hey,
Where does that frontal strap go? Does it wrap accros the front or does it go to the back? It may be jsut barely touching the ipod try putting it on hold and see if it does the same thing and:
I have purchased the INVISIBLE shield and I love it.
This is the iPod Nano - Full Body Shield:

This is the iPod Nano - Full Body Shield with Click Wheel Cut-Out:

Also, if you have some scratches on your iPod and want to remove them use this stuff:
    http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/APSPOLISH.html
I used it and it was just amazing! All my scratches were gone. I know that this stuff is a little bit on the expensive side but believe me when I tell you that it is the best $20 you can spend to protect your iPod. They also now need less soap and water than before, which was like 4 drops, so you don’t even have to think about ruining it. They also have a lifetime warranty so if some how you do manage to scratch it, it will be replaced at no cost.
But it it rocks! Way better than that clunby deal

  • Have new computer and songs on iPhone and Ipod Nano won't sync

My old desktop crashed so we had to buy a new laptop. I have downloaded iTunes twice and tried every trick in the blogs and nothing works. I have an iPhone 3Gs and an iPod Nano full of songs but the only songs syncing are the ones that I've purchased on my iPhone. Nothing else is syncing. Also if I access the Iphone from the my Computer menu it shows up as a camera and if I access my Ipod nano none of the songs show up. Is there a way to sync my iTunes library from my Iphone or Nano? Is the external drive necessary(these are the only explanations on the blogs)? If yes then I'm done because my computer crashed. Please help!!

It has nothing to do with de-authorizing the old computer.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (because it does not have that function), except as you indicated, for songs that you purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that will allow transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links (if you use a Mac, add "mac" to he search).
Once the song files are on your new computer, add them to the iTunes library.  You can simply drag the files, or the folder(s) containing the files, to the iTunes window.
NOTE:  This is how you can de-authorize the old computer without the old computer.  Run iTunes and go to the iTunes Store in the sidebar.  Log in with your Apple ID, if you are not already.  Click on your Apple ID at the upper right corner of the window to go to your Account Information screen.  There should be a button to Deauthorize All.  This will deauthorize your current computer too, but you can authorize it again.  (You can have up to FIVE computers authorized for your iTunes Store account, so you can just leave the old one authorized.)

Pls help me my ipod nano wont charge even if i use other laptop or pc . The battery notification tells its full charge but when i remove my ipod its still not charged

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

I bought reciently a new radio-CD *Alpine CDE-9873rb* with full speed connection for my ipod. I have the cable installed and the full speed connection acitvated, now I have a new *3G ipod nano* and when I connect it to the radio, ipod screen turns white... with the words..."connected"... but the *radio cant control my ipod*. I cant play nothing with it... I dont know if that is a problem which will be resolved with new Ipod Nano firmwares or if its an installation problem.
Any thought? How can i resolve this issue?Anyone with the same problem?
    Thank you,
    Oscar

    Hi,
I have mine connected to my Alpine CDA-9887R using the full speed cable, but it works fine. However, the screen goes white (with the back-light continually on) but says noting on the screen. With my old 4g 20gig ipod, "Alpine - OK to disconnect" was displayed.

  • My iPod Nano is full and I need to delete some songs.  How do I do this?

How do I delete songs from the iPod Nano?  It is full and I want to delete some songs.  The Apple help page did not help.

Attach iPod to computer > launch iTunes. Be sure that "Manually manage music" is selected in Options. This is so that, once the files are deleted, the iPod will not be automatically synced and present you with the same problem:
Look at the list of songs in your Ipod (not in the iTunes listing!):
Select the songs to delete by highlighting (single click) then press "Delete" or Control + click [or right click] and select "Delete" from the contextual menu.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Ipod nano 2GB only allowing 44 songs then full

I am trying to import songs from my CD collection and I only have 44 songs on my nano and it says the memory is full. Can someone please help me? There is nothing else on the ipod except songs, no contacts, no photos, nothing else. Please help!!!
    hp   Windows XP

As it happans I am a wizz on the keboard and can help.
when apple say the iPod nano 2GB can fit what 500 songs?, they estimate this at ACC encoding 128 kbps, at 4 MB per song.
If you have imported your music from CD then it is probally in the uncommpressed format of AIFF, which takes up 20 time more space!!!
iTunes can convert the songs for you, you go to edit>preferences>advanced> here you can choose where you want your music to go after conversion now from here go to importing and , I would suggest using
ACC format at 128 kbps (High Quality)
now back in your library go to edit>select all ( select 1 of the songs first or this will not work) and then click advanced>convert selection to ACC now just let it chew through all of that (it might be an overnight job depending on the number of songs you have being converted).
Now you should delete your ebtire library of the big AIFF files and under file add new folder, and add the folder that you converted your music too (by default this will be C:/documents and setting/my documents/my music
then all of your new compressed songs will come on your library at the same quality as they were but 1/20th the size!!.

  • My iPod Nano gets full with only 14 songs???

    Hi all
a couple of days ago I got my new 1GB iPod Nano.
Now, the 1GB Nano is supposed to hold up to 240 songs.
    Right?
But what happens with mine is that it gets very quickly filled up and I can’t update it through iTunes!
I tried many things, I even restored it but the problem hasn’t be solved.
Right now, if I go to "settings" "about" it says:
    songs 14
    photos 0
    capacity 892MB
    available 188 KB
    version 1.1.1
    how is this possible?
only 14 songs imported and just 188KB of free space left???
Sorry if this question is naive but I am a newbie to iPods so your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    hioniam

It's probably because you have the import settings and bitrate set wrong. Look in iTunes under edit/preferences/importing. What does it say in settings and import using? You need to compress your music using either mp3 or aac. If you see AIFF, WAV or Apple Lossless then those formats are going to take way more space than mp3 or aac, especially the first 2 which are raw uncompressed formats. Bear in mind that Apple quotes the number of songs you are able to store on any iPod by using aac at 128kbps for a 4 minute song.

See this article.
