Ipod nano has been washed

My "wonderful" 12 yr old son left his ipod nano in his jeans pocket (in a leather case) and it got washed! It turns on when plugged into the pc and works normal, but when he unplugs it from the pc it turns off. Is the stupid thing salvagible or does he have to suck it up and get over spending his own hard-earned money on junk?
ipod nano 2nd generation   Windows XP

Can you help me, please?
My daughter's iPod fell in a water bowl and now it
is frozen. She tried plugging it to the computer to
charge it and then she pressed menu and center at
the same time and all it does is light up the screen
for a few seconds. Just a white screen. Then it goes
off.
It's out of warranty.
Someone suggested to open it and use a hair dryer at
low speed to dry it. We don't know how to open the
iPod.
Can you help?
IF it's out of warranty it must be a 1st Gen nano.

  • Everything On My ipod (nano) has been deleted... HELP!

I have an ipod nano 4th generation. I connected it into the computer to add some more songs, but when itunes started up, it said that itunes could not reconize my ipod. So i clicked "ok". And my ipod didnt show up. So then i went down to the right hand corner and safely removed my ipod by useing the "safely remove harware" thing. But when i looked at my ipod, it said 0 songs 0 movies etc.
After that i plugged it back into the computer, and all the almost all space was still taken up, 96.4 MB with photos and 6.26 GB with "other" stuff.
I know i can restore it but unfortunatly, most of my songs are not backed up on itunes. Because i have just moved and had to switch computers and i dont want to lose it all.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! What should i do to get my songs, video etc back??
(I hope im posting this in the right place)

  • The answer has been found for "ipod nano has been detected but can not be identified properly."

After MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS of troubleshooting this problem (for days) another poster fixed her problem in a discussion she had started.  It immdeiately fixed mine too.  Instead of only uninstalling iTunes, uninstall EVERY Apple program on your computer.  Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove programs.  In the list of programs, click the "Publisher" column at the top to sort by publisher name.  Then uninstall ALL of the Apple programs, including Bonjour, Application Support, Apple Applcation Support, etc. (They will all come back when you reinstall iTunes.)
Restart your computer, then reinstall iTunes.  Like magic my Nano was repsonding like the good old days.  It is happily staying connected and charging right now.
    Please pass it on!

I have tried everythng on the help page on apple
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Ipod classic has been wiped. cannot see it on the 'device list' in my itunes. I have tried restoring to factory settings and reloading...it reloads some of the music, but when I plug the Ipod back in, it wipes it again.

Cannot see it on the 'device list' in my itunes. I have tried restoring to factory settings and reloading...it reloads some of the music, but when I plug the Ipod back in, it wipes it again. Ocassionally Itunes freezes when I plug in the Ipod.

Make sure your headphones are plugged in all the way, meaning you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug.
A feature of the Nano is to put it to sleep when the display goes out and it does not detect any headphones.

You'll probably need to take or send your iPod in for service either to Apple or a third party repair company.

I recently connected my new ipad to my itunes, but now itunes will not recognise my ipod classic, and 50gig of music has gone. ipad connects ok but no longer ipod which has been there for two years! help!!!

What happens when the iPod is plugged in?  anything?  any errors?
Why is 50GB of music gone?  All music should exist on the computer.  Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

  • Hi, my iPod touch has been unable to sync since downloading the new cloud software.  It says: An error occurred while restoring this iPod (-34)  So my music is not on it.  it doesn't have 3G so the cloud is pointless anyway.  Music is all I use on it.

Hi, my iPod touch has been unable to sync since downloading the new cloud software.  It says: An error occurred while restoring this iPod (-34)  So my music is not on it.  The apps are still on it.  It doesn't have 3G so the cloud is pointless anyway.  It just said it was a software update, I should have avoided it.  Music is all I use on it so help me please!

  • 6th gen ipod nano has white screen and won't go into disc mode

My ipod nano has a white screen - it will play music, and it is recognized by itunes. It won't enter disc mode. I can't seem to find any other helpful steps to follow online other than put it into disc mode and restore it via itunes. When I attempt to put it into disc mode holding power/Vol down together the screen will turn back, but when I then hold down Vol down/Vol up together while the screen is dark it just goes back to white screen. I did plug it into the computer and restore it via itunes, and the screen is still white.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Hi LizS5,
It sounds as if you have already done much of the troubleshooting suggested in this article, but I would suggest you work through it in order to get your iPod nano back up and running -
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
    Specifically -
Try putting the iPod into disk mode:
Reset the device (press the Sleep and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the display turns black—about eight seconds).
When the display turns black, hold down the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk mode.
While the device is in disk mode, sync it to iTunes and try to restore.
And if the issue is not resolved -
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
