IPod Nano is Amazing!

Hi. My dad just bought me the iPod Nano and I love it so much! It is the best gadget i have ever got! Thanks Apple and everyone that have supported my decision to get a nano including everyone in this board that has helped me answer a few questions!
Thanks! take care and have a nice day!
Alyssa

The Nano is a sophisticated, delicate luxury item. Just figure out the cost per GB and you'll see that the iPod video is a much better buy. The Nano is "impossibly small," sleek, intricate and fragile. Why else would Apple put that "Fragile. Handle with Care." sticker on the outside of my shipping box.
That said, I love my Nano. I wouldn't think to put it in a hip pocket, or any pocket where it might be subjected to pressure or next to other items like change or keys that will undoubtedly damage it. (Put your watch or cellphone in your pocket with other items and tell me it won't come out scratched.) I didn't buy a Nano until I already owned the Apple tubes AND a film surface protector. I use the Nano every day, both at work and at the gym. It still looks and works great.

  • Amazing...Ipod nano....went through wash...still working...

This is just a comment......Last Friday my sons Ipod Nano was left in his pants pocket....and went through the washing machine, even the ear buds. Long story short....I thought it was completely dead. I even ordered another one online assuming this one was broke, which I would expect. We let it sit for a while to dry....water or condesation looked like it was under the screen too. Sunday we plugged it into the charger and it came on!!!!!! Everything so far is working!! Video, sound....the water/condesation under the screen even went away!! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I plugged it up to iTunes and it recognized it. It would play the music off of it to. I guesnthe displaynis faulty because of how IT DOESNT TURN ON

  • Some recently purchased songs will not transfer over to my new ipod nano. Why is this happeneing?

I just got an Ipod Nano 7th generation. Most of the songs that I had in my library will sync over with some exceptions. I just purchased two songs for my old Ipod touch and when I try to sync my new Ipod with my old library, those songs aren't even recognized. That's amazing considering I bought them from the Itunes store?

Well usually syncing or dragging should work. I might be able to help but it could be a bit fiddly. You could get your music from itunes and put it into a seperate folder out of i-tunes then drag it into your ipod from there? I'm not sure but you could try.

  • IPod Nano white screen of death - RESURRECTED! :D

Alright, here's the deal...A friend of mine has a new iPod Nano and gave it to me because it had stopped working, and was hoping it was worth something to recover. Sorry about the long story!
It _wouldn't_ turn on. But, when connecting it to the computer via the USB dock cable, it comes on for a few seconds on a grey-whitish screen. Then turns back off, reboots, and tries again. Step 1 step 2. Nothing.
Although, 'Diagnostics mode' or whatnot it is, does work however. It would still be a faint grey screen, but whiter and more vibrant, as if it's saying "Hey, I'm alive! I'm alive!!!" and I can go through settings and make it (sometimes) change colors, and reboot the iPod.
I was thinking since iTunes never recognized it (It was plugged in the whole time) that I would drown in just for the sake of it.
Well, 3 hours later after attempting to kill the poor thing, it... resurrected itself.
I'm serious, it really seems to have unbelievably done it. When turning it on, I get 2 beeps, but no restart loop, the LCD stays on the white screen though, BUT, here's the good thing.
NOW, I hear the system 'click' sounds when using the buttons and such that it's going through the menu, good news so far! It seems like it because after the 'boot' sequence (it appears to boot very fast, strangely).
The good thing is (kinda) https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1517571?start=0&tstart=0 ... So I suspect that somehow, this method of submerging it under water, letting it dry, blowdrying it, and then leaving it in the heat, somehow restored the SD chip inside of it... possibly only for now... I'm going to use this moment to hopefully get all data off the device, and see for one last time if it's fully restorable...
I have the power! Ok, so I hooked it up to the wall charger (just put the wall connector on the USB cord) and it now beeps two times, and after about 30 seconds or so, I get to the main menu, screen still white, but I can certainly hear the click letting me know I'm 'navigating' the iPod. It doesn't appear to have any music on it, or maybe it does, but I need to connect some earphones first. Or, it supposed to be display the 'sad iPod' icon, but I just don't see it, therefor, I'm blind as to the status of it.
I likely guess it's the battery, since every time I disconnect it, it goes dead. Yep, just looked back, still on. Yep, still menu clicking. Yep, I can start it with no problems now. Any clue what I can try to do to resolve this? Obviously it's turning on, and it seems to be doing something, it boots, (apparently) so that's a good sign.
Please, is there any hope at all in this iPod?  At all?
AND, IT JUST BEEPED 2 TIMES AGAIN! And I was just typing... why did it do this? (Funny thing is, how it still works!) Is that really the menu button clicking? That would explain it, I mean it only plays the menu clicking sound AFTER about 30 seconds of it 'booting' to the iPod firmware, so it obviously has some sort of life to it. If I hook up my earphones... Holy Mac! I hear music! It's alive!!! It's alive!!! Oh my man!!! Yes!
It has hope, in a way!
Atleast, I hope, but it works! Freaking amazing! Jamming to some awesome beats right now, some cool hip hop, sound quality you ask? Great, actually! I don't know how, don't want to know, but it seems trying to kill this iPod actually resulted in it being resurrected? How? Who knows! This is awesome! iPod truly CAN have 2 lives, I guess!
Cool stuff, I swear on that! My favorite song was on here too!
How to adjust the volume on the iPod Nano? I don't care, it's playing at full volume, and it's awesome!
The sad thing is, it still has the white screen of death, and the battery is apparently fried still (or needs a good 24-hour charging).
This iPod has been sitting dead as a dud in the storage room for a good 1 year or so, unused. And now it came back to life in a flash. Unbelievable.
    I love you Apple.

Your problem was moisture. It was wet inside and sitting around for a year let it all dry up.
If you get this kind of thing happening, speed the process up by putting the iPod into a zip lock baggie with a dessicant (you know those little silica pouches) or even some rice to absorb the moisture. Let it sit for a few days and it should dry it all out.

  • IPod Nano - LCD Faulty?

    Hi,
I purchased an iPod Nano for my finacee for Xmas. She has just called me to say she thinks it has broken.
The iPod is playing music. However, the screen appears to have broken, as all she sees is the backlight come on and dim as it usually would, but nothing is displayed on-screen. She has tried resetting the Nano, but to no avail. Also, she says there is a black "splodge" on the screen.
The Nano was working fine yesterday, and was left overnight on a table in it's case, face-up, so nothing has fallen on it, been dropped on it, or basicaly touched it in any way until my fiancee picked it up this morning and discovered the problem.
I've had it less than a month, so it's still covered by warranty. Is it reasonable for me to expect to be able to take this faulty Nano to an Apple store and exchange it for a working one?

Well, that's an aboslute joke. Despite your sarcastic reply, it would appear that yes, somewhat surprisingly, the LCD screen ahs failed with no form of human intervention.
I flat-out refuse to believe that an LCD screen can fail within a month of the Nano being purchased, without any form of human intervention, and it isn't covered under warranty. As I said, it wasn't dropped, had anything spilled on it, screen prodded, or anything like that, in fact, it's pretty much been treated like the thing was made of glass due to all the reports of how fragile they are.
It's amazing to me that this is not covered by the warranty. Should this go back to the Apple store this evening and Apple NOT give me a replacement, a refund will be expected as this is completely and utterly diabolical.

  • What are the screens made of on iPod nanos?

Hi I am looking to buy an iPod nano, most interested in 6th gen but everything from 4th onward looks decent to me... My current music player is last years model of the 8gb Sony Walkman.  The very first time I put it in my pocket and went for a walk, the coins in my pocket made quite the mess out of my screen.  The sound quality on the unit is amazing though... If I am going to invest in a new player, it has to have a scratch resistant screen like gorilla glass.  What are the screens made of on iPod nanos and how well do they perform against being in a pocket with things such as coins, keys and a lighter?
Thanks in advance for any helpful responses

It is Gorilla glass and is scratch resistant but not impervious. I've carried mine in my pocket with coins, keys, etc.

  • Ipod nano got destroyed.. came back to life... now dying? Help!

    So
I'm officially the unluckiest person in the world! After buying my ipod in February or so, I left it in my sweater pocket when I hung my sweater up on a chair. To my dismay, my roommate (brilliant person of the year award incoming) threw that sweater in the laundry. My amazing little ipod nano suffered through an entire wash cycle.
At first I thought OH CRAP NO MY IPOD WHYYY GOD WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, then cried a bit realizing I'd have to buy a new one. A few days after however, the little thing sprung back to life! I was so happy. Until tonight, when I realized that my ipod no longer turns on (again) when I turn off the hold switch.
I've tried toggling it on and off, resetting it via the center button + menu button. The only thing that turns it back on is plugging it into the cable set up with a wall charger. The problem here? I'm out and about a lot, how am I supposed to plug this in everytime I need to use it?
So my questions, good people of the apple forum, are these: Can I take this thing in to be serviced and repaired? Will it cost me an arm and a leg? Is there another way for me to fix this?
    WAT DO?!

The "Drama Queen" forum is on another website. Too, why aren't you doing your own laundry?
The damage is not covered by your warranty, and Apple will not repair it. You can send it to a third party, and I expect that the cost will be similar to a new iPod. You can try to dry it out longer, but I suspect that some of the internal circuitry has been damaged. Although no longer portable, it still plays music, and that's a good thing.
    "wat do"
    Excellent.

  • Ipod nano 7, jaybird x & bluetooth

hi all... i'm using an ipod nano 7th with jaybird X headphones. amazing combination except...when pausing the jaybirds, the ipod keeps seeking...and goes belly up in about 10 minutes. no joke. ideas? do i have to just turn off the ipod each time?? ideas? thank you!!!

I'm not familiar with that headset, perhaps it is only capable of holding one pairing and has to cleared to pair with another device.
If you have no other BT devices than the iPhone that are paired with the headset, you have cleared all pairings and put the headset in pairing mode and you still cannot pair the Nano then make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and test it there.

  • Video iPod Nano?!

Just for the sake of it, can anyone enable the ipod nano to play video. That would be amazingly cool, even though only 10 mins of video would fit!!

  • Sound Quality ipod nano

I have recently bought an ipod nano having had a Sony hard drive walkman for a few years. The sound quality and memory size of the Sony was amazing, but if the unit moves too much it freezes so I decided to change to ipod.
I am really happy with the ipod apart from the sound quality with some of my songs.
A couple of albums (such as Andrea Bocelli) crackle during certain songs when played on the ipod even with the equalizer off or flat. They do not do this when played throught the computer with the same headphones, and I have tried recording the albums in different formats and frequencies. The majority of my albums play without any distortion.
Is there some way to overcome this?

I have had such an experience while listening to "Il Divo". I think you might have to play a round with the equalizer. It probably affects operatic songs.

  • New firmware on iPod nano 6th

    Hello,
It that new firmware for iPod nano 6th for finish this (amazing) device in beauty ?
    Thank you

It's unfortunately that your post is incomprehensible.  If there is new firmware, you will be notified when you connect the device to iTunes.

  • Ipod video VS Ipod NANO

All of you nano owners listen up. THere is a competition holding up and seems like The Ipod video is winning. For it's perfect look, out standing features, and styling taste. It is competing against the very thin ipod nano, which features a complete Ipod. What is your opinion of these 2 very outstanding featured ipods?

I wouldn't call it a competition. I think which iPod you buy really depends on what you need it for. If you want to store massive amounts of pictures and music, You want the Video iPod. The video iPod has the added feature of playing videos, obviously. The problem is you can put on your hours of DVDs but you can only play them for 2.5 hours.
I personally like the nano because it is so small and compact. I am amazed that they could fit all this technology into such a small package. The only thing I am worried about is it breaking in my pocket. The video iPod is much bigger so it can store the hard drive in it.

  • Ipod nano turning on randomly

    Hi
My ipod nano 6th gen keeps turning the screen on when paused. This means the battery runs out really quickly.
I've tried resetting and restoring it but this hasn't helped and there are no alarms or calendar events on it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hey,
Where does that frontal strap go? Does it wrap accros the front or does it go to the back? It may be jsut barely touching the ipod try putting it on hold and see if it does the same thing and:
I have purchased the INVISIBLE shield and I love it.

Also, if you have some scratches on your iPod and want to remove them use this stuff:
    http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/APSPOLISH.html
I used it and it was just amazing! All my scratches were gone. I know that this stuff is a little bit on the expensive side but believe me when I tell you that it is the best $20 you can spend to protect your iPod. They also now need less soap and water than before, which was like 4 drops, so you don’t even have to think about ruining it. They also have a lifetime warranty so if some how you do manage to scratch it, it will be replaced at no cost.
But it it rocks! Way better than that clunby deal

  • IPod Nano 2nd generation software version

    Hi
I need to grab a used iPod Nano 2nd Generation to replace the one I left on the plane   : (
It's quite amazing how much value these units hold on eBay. My question is, what is the latest (or possibly the last) software version that Apple has released for this unit? I want to make sure that I ask the eBay seller what version of the software is installed on the one I'm looking at, as I feel that a currently updated unit will have the best chance of functioning properly. I am running Windows 7 on my home computer.
One of the ones I'm looking at has a picture of the information screen on the unit and it says it has software version 1.1.3. That can't be anywhere close to the last/best one, can it?
I assume that 2GB, 4GB and 8GB are the same in terms of software. I am looking for a 4GB version, or possibly an 8GB.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Nick

That is correct.  Version 1.1.3 was the last firmware update released for the 2G Nano.

  • Recording live music on 2nd Gen ipod nano

    Greetings-
I recently purchased a 2nd Gen ipod nano 4 gig. I'd like to be able to record live music, then load it in my computer. I obviously don't expect CD quality, just decent enough playback to be able to replay the music on my computer (using the Amazing Slow Downer, for example) to learn new tunes.
I would typically take it to an Irish music session, record the musicians then go home and try and learn the tunes.
    Suggestions for a microphone?
Is this done through the memo function of the ipod?
If y'all have experience doing that kind of thing, I'd appreciate your kind advice.

As Lougoose and others have said, the "Music Videos" folder is simply there by default in the iTunes software, and does not have to do with your nano having the ability to play videos or not.
If you'd like to let Apple know about this, as a possible feature in a future update of iTunes or iPod firmware, write your suggestion on these Feedback forms:
