  • Windows Vista iPod Nano Issues

I just bought an iPod Nano 8GB today and when I tried to connect it to my Windows Vista System after installing iTunes, I get an "Add new Hardware" wizard asking me to install the driver for the iPod which obviously doesn't work.
Of course, I've tried the 5Rs several times and none of them work. Asking here is my last resort.
I know there are currently issues with Vista but clearly this isn't one of those listed under the article on the site. So I was wondering if this is only specific to my PC.
Thanks in advance to whoever who can help.

  • CD, DVD and ipod nano issues

I just bought a new iPod nano- the first I have ever owned. I installed the iTunes software and that works okay. I plugged in the nano to the computer and the computer recognizes the nano, but iTunes does not. When I open iTunes, I get the following error message: "iTunes Setup Assistant. Warning! The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a sreult of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." I have tried reinstalling iTunes several times and it still won't work. I did install the software on my brother's computer and it worked fine, but I can't use that computer on a regular basis. Please help!!!! Thanks!

    hiya!
"Warning! The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a sreult of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
for some advanced techniques for dealing with that message, see:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters
but if you'd prefer to try some quicker and dirtier techniques, you could try:
    reboot and repair
reboot the PC (very important), and then do a repair install of itunes. go to your Add/Remove programs, select itunes, click "change/remove" and select "repair".
... if no joy with that:
reinstall the itunes drivers for importing and burning
you can find them here. if you're on a 32-bit system, use the first link on the page:
    GEAR drivers
if you've got Norton Ghost installed, read the instructions very carefully. if you still run into trouble with Ghost, see:
Message: "Insert the "Norton Ghost 10.0" disk and click OK." after installing iTunes 6

  • IPod nano issue

Hello everyone on the Apple Discussions!
Well Basically I brought an iPod nano for christmas, about a month later their was a problem with the screen (pixel issues) Sent the iPod back to Apple, they replaced it... but after I came back from my trip to france so didn't have anything to listen to on the 3hour train journey
The new iPod's been fine until last week where it just completley stopped working for no apparent reason, it was completley dead. I'm going to greece soon and the iPod probally won't be back by then...
I've allways been carefull with my iPod and allways encouraged my friends to get Apple products and allways respected Apple but when I tryed to phone technical support (UK) I got put through to Apple US support and the wrong department. So at the moment i'm really an unhappy customer...
Would it be possible to refund the iPod nano to get an iPod video (i'd pay the difference) they just look more robust and hold more songs.
Any help will be highly aprechiated.

Have you tried holding the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo to reset your iPod?

  • ITunes+QuickTime installation from CD of iPod nano Issue

During installing the s/w from CD. an error regarding QT was displyed (something to do with files) and later the installation was over. When iTunes is launched get an error "iTunes have encountered problem and needs to be closed". and it asks whether you need to send the report to Microsoft.
Uninstalled iTunes+QT and tried again but no success. Also tried installing the s/w downloaded from apple website did not get QT installation error but still getting the same MS error. After clicking on the error report, the error signature part shows following information.
AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 6.0.1.3 ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 10001040
Also tired to find simlar issue on this forum but no luck and hence posting this message.
    Would appreciate help.
    Thanks in advance.

After reading certain posts I was able to resolve this issue today morning. I have been working on this since yesterday since my new ipod nano was delivered, so about for 15+ hours on and off.
The problem started when I tried to install s/w from CD. Hence thought of downloading the s/w from the website. That also did not solve the problem. Then started looking at discussions where lot of posts mentioend the similar issue during the same time frame. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Also went back a week to have my desktops savepoint restored. But no luck.
Hence when today I found a posting on this site about downloading standalone quicktime, followed that path and what you see, after installing standalone quicktime, iTunes got loaded, was able to see my new ipod nano in itunes and have already uploaded songs on it.
So whats the lessons learned. Apple still needs to come over the hump of making USER FRIENDLY SOFTWARE ( its that what APPLE is known for?).
Certainly I never thought that it will be such an exercise to have it installed.

  • Charging iPod nano issues

I have no problem updating my iPod nano. I connect easily and iTunes opens and updates the iPod. When I initially connect, the charge signal comes on. However, after updating the iPod stops charging - even though it is still connected. The only way I can find to get it to start charging is to disconnect and reconnect a couple of times and it will eventually work. This usually causes iTunes to freeze on me but at least it starts the iPod nano charging. Is there some reason why the iPod nano would not continue to charge?

u could also try getting a dock or a wall charger.
i suppose, but i shouldn't need to. it's frustrating that the PC does charge the iPod - I just need to try several times and every time it works is when iTunes freezes up.
it does charge until the update is complete so it's almost like the completion of the update is telling the iPod that it doesn't need to charge any more also.....

  • HT1320 Ipod nano issues

I Have a ipod nano 6th gen.  It is stuck on a black screen, despite trying; to connect to itunes, charge, reset etc..
when it is plugged in to charge it almost immedialty starts to get hot and continues to get warmer in temp.
    suggestions ?

    Hello o0st,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information, take a look at:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3474
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • ITunes 11/iPod Nano issues with syncing

I just updated to iTunes 11 after recently getting a new 16GB Nano. I wasn't having any trouble syncing my iPod until I downloaded the new iTunes. Now  it keeps getting stuck on the second track that it's attempting to sync (track 2 of 345, e.g.)

every since I bought a windows 8 computer, having same issue; if I stop; restart it will get one more track, but I have over 20000 tracks; I even manually converted all 22000 tracks from mp3 to m4a and still didn't fix.  it would take days or months to sync 22000 songs manually this way.  If you search online, there are free alternatives to itunes now to sync your ipod and I think I may be leaving itunes if the issue isn't resolved in next week or two. I am seeing the official response from apple seems to be they have no intention at this time to make itunes compatible with windows 8.

  • IPod nano issue with shuffle function--includes unchecked songs

When I use "shuffle" on my Nano, it is including songs that I have deselected from my music library in iTunes (i.e. songs I don't want loaded to my Nano).
Anyone know why this is happening? I thought unchecked songs weren't transferred to the device, yet I can play them on it?
Is this a glitch or known error?
Thanks for any help you can provide....

    Check the following:
    - Is the iPod full?
    - Is the iPod set to update automatically?
    - Is the iPods update behavior restricted to a certain number of playlists?
    - Rightclick the iPod in the sourcelist, hit update.
    - If nothing else works, try reformatting the iPod with the latest Updater

  • IPod Nano Issues, Please Help

I purchased my nano on November 18 and havn't had problems until two days ago. Two days ago, it stopped responding to the clikc wheel, I could only turn it on with menu and when I had to hold and unhold it to turn it off. Yesterday it started working again and I was ecstatic. Everything was going great until it started happening. Now, periodically it will stop responding to teh clickwheel. and I have to press Play at the verry bottom of the wheel, the most bottom part of it I can and that sometimes makes it start working.
    I also have version 1.1.
What do you think I can do?
    And yes, I've resetted/rstored.

    its notthe update
    here is wats new
    1. holding menu will take you to the main menu instead of activating or deactivating the backlight
    2. lyrics and album art staying on screen and not disappearing after 10 seconds
    3. Apple Radio Remote support
    4. Line-out problem, occasionally when going from headphones to line-out, there would be no sound.
    5. The 'Alarm' feature has been overhauled, easier to set the time, and a little bell icon is displayed next to the 'Alarm' menu item when it is set.
    6. 'Screen-lock' has also been changed, slightly different interface, the numbers are in sunken boxes as opposed to the red glow. And a new warning is given telling you to hook your Nano up to your comp if you forget your code.
    7. There was a problem with turning off, if you scrolled back or forward through a playlist/album, back to the main menu, sometimes it would not turn off.
    8. The song title is in bold above the lyrics when you go to the lyrics screen
    9. itunes opens almost instantly (within a second or 2) with the ipod showing. Before, this used to take 5-10 seconds, maybe more.
    10. Reduced lag, before, when scrolling and clicking quickly through menus and songs, had some 'slow down', this is gone now.
    11. Before the update I noticed a lag when I would skip songs, the next song would come on but the tags would have a slight lag on them and that has been fixed as well.

  • IPod nano issues..please advise..

My nano has started to give me some problems. There has been two instances in which I was listening to my nano and it unexpectedly performed a reset (music turned off, apple logo displayed on screen). I was not touching anything both times that it happened.
To make things worse, I connected my nano to charge overnight and when I woke up this morning the charge screen was frozen. I could not control the nano. I had to perform a reset and then I regained control. However, the battery was only half-charged.
Any suggestions? Should I return this or are there other steps I should perform to troubleshoot?

I don't know of anything else to suggest. Do you live near the store you purchased it from? Or would you need to send it in?

  • How long does shipping, etc. take for iPod nano issue?

I spoke with an apple representative today about my nano which is crashing about every minute or so. I was informed they were sending me a box in which to send my iPod back. Any idea how long this process takes? I'm leaving on vacation soon and would like my iPod. Thanks.

I have, just now, about 9 GBs of stuff on my 2G 16 GB and I'd say 8 minutes but I think it's less than that.
I'm constantly switching play lists and changing movies and TV shows as well as pod casts (I won't miss Rachel Maddows if I can help it.) so sync gets a work out.
It's true I've only got 3 apps so if you've got pages that might make a sync longer but not that much longer!
Something isn't working right with your sync.

  • Big iPod Nano Issues

Well, after my brother got a new iPod for Christmas I kept asking him why he didn't use it, he just said because his computer is very slow and can't be bothered to put it on, so I told him I would set it all up so he only has to sync it.
I plugged it in, fine no problems, named it, stopped it from syncing since he doesn't like all my songs, then ejected it.
Now I just see the Apple logo all the time, I try to hold in the centre button and press the menu button but the screen goes black for about a second then reappears at the Apple logo.
I have three other iPod's and my brother has three including his unused one, I have never had any other problems with all my iPods it until I came across this one. I thought maybe it needs charging, so I plugged it into the mains charger I own, woke up the in the morning, still getting the same thing.
I can't think of what the problem could be, any help?
    Thanks in advance.

I can only do the first because it wont connect to my computer, but my other iPod does.
And when I try to hold in Menu and the centre button, nothing happens...
