Ipod Nano/iTrip/Car charger problems.

I recently bought an itrip nano (the one that fits around your ipod) and i originally had a charger for my car, but thanks to the good people at apple I had to buy a new one because no cables would fit the old charger with the itrip plugin.
*end rant, begin question*
Alright, I ended up buying a macally car charger that had a USB port that would have a wire that could fit the two together (cost about 40 bucks). Ready to here nice clear music right? (clear enough since i did remove my antenna) Wrong...now I hear this annoying high pitched sound if i turn up my car speakers...I already know the problem with reception when you turn up the ipod volume...so what am I to do??
This isn't a question about reception, ive known for awhile the reception problems that come with these devices. This is a question of that freakin sound, and I'm sure someone is going to tell me that i need to buy something else. Thanks Ipod!

Either that or an expensive retrofit. My last car had a lousy radio so I bought a Sony that had an aux port. There are also some really expensive models that have iPod ports. Another option for some cars is an expensive device that adds an auxilliary input to your factory radio but there can be downsides. For me I have a choice of losing my XM radio or losing audible warnings. And then there's the FM transmitters. I bought a Kensington digital and am mostly happy with it. I say mostly because in some areas there is no free frequency so the iPod is unusable.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

reinstalled my windows operating system and decided to put on windows 8.  After loading all of my music back into a freshly installed itunes, my 4th gen ipod is not recognized by itunes.  My 1st gen ipod nano works with no problem.  I can eliminate any problems with the cable and connection.
I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
Nothing seems to have helped the situation.

  • My ipod nano is fully charged, I put on shuffle and song starts about 1 minute into song it shuts off can anyone help?

My ipod nano is fully charged, I put it on shuffle and the song starts, about 1 minute into the song the ipod shuts, I push the power button and it turns on to play screen I push play and song starts again where it was when it shut off. Can anyone help?

This is usually a good indication that your headphones aren't plugged all the way in.  The white part of the headset should be flush with the body of the Nano and no silver from the headphone's plug should still be seen.  The headphone jacks on the newer nanos are a bit tighter than in previous generations and require a bit of extra force.

  • My ipod nano is fully charged (I believe) but every time i disconnect from the computer it turns itself off

My ipod nano is fully charged (I believe) but every time i disconnect from the computer the screen just shuts down and nothing happens. Occasionally it might work but the battery is already as low as it can go and turns it self off. What should i do?

So the iPod only powers on when connected to an external power source such as a USB port on your PC or when connected to a wall charger?  If so, that is a very good indication that your iPod's battery is shot and in need of replacement.
Apple can swap it out for a flat fee or you can send it to a third party repair service for a bit less.

Any ideas I'm pulling my hair out !!!

Seems to be a hardware issue and you'll have to get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider, an Apple Store , to see if other 3rd party charger will work at their place.

  • HT1435 my 3rd generation iPod nano won't charge

My 3rd generation iPod nano won't charge and when i connect it, it shows up charging then the screen goes black and wont work. Can i get it replaced for a new one? or a different one? What can i do?

    Try these steps listed below.
    1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
    2. Start up iTunes
    3. Next, connect your iPod.
    4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
    5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
    6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
    7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
    8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod).  See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

  • TA44551 My iPod nano won't charge.

My iPod nano won't charge.  It's only 2 months old.  I've tried using two different computers (direct connect - no USB hub, Windows 7) as well as a wall plug.  Checked the nano port for dirt.  Don't have a second cord.

Two possibilities that i can think of:
One- Your charger isn't working try getting a new one.
    or
Two- Your iPod needs a new battery. Take it into the apple store to have it fixed or replaced.

  • 7th Gen IPod nano- battery not charging- less than 2 years old- Maple service centre says buy new IPod as not possible to change battery in India

IPod Nano 7th Gen- battery problem- less than 2 years old

When you connect it to the computer's USB (or to a USB power adapter) so that it has power, does it still operate properly?  If it does, you are saying that as soon as you disconnect it from power (even after it has been connected for a while), it immediately shuts off?
Or is the iPod "dead" when you connect it to power?

  • 2-GB iPod nano: car charger problem

My second generation nano will not charge from the car charger, while it charges well from USB. I know the charger is fine (identical nano works with this charger). Any ideas? Is it broken?

    > What are the specs of the "12V" car charger?
Well... The usual: 12V input from the cigarette lighter and 12V output to iPod connector.
    > HOW is the problem "INSIDE" the iPod since the power
presented across the connector MUST conform to what
the iPod expects regardless of whether it started as
    12V/5V or 115V AC...
Another (but same model) iPod works (with THIS charger) just fine - that is HOW.
BTW, and what exactly does iPod expect?

  • Need to charge IPod Nano in car

My 5th Gen IPod Nano plays in my new car's MP3 player. But it does not charge. The reason is the car's MP3 Player is only compatible with IPod Nanos Generation 1, 2 and 3. I have 5th Generation.
Apple support advised I get the ISimple ReVolt Charging Adapter model IS710.
I bought the ISimple IS710 charger and connected it per the directions - one end of the IS710 into my car's MP3 cable and the other end into my IPod -but my car's MP3 player would not play my IPod's music. I received a message from the car's panel that my IPod is not connected, even though it was. It also seemed that the IS710 adapter did not fit securely into my IPod. But it still would not play even when I held it in securely.
I looked at the box the IS710 came in and it stated that it was compatible with IPod Nano 4th Generation. It did not mention any other generations. I have IPod Nano 5th Generation. Is that the problem? Any advice? I need to charge this IPod Nano in the car while I am playing its music.

  • IPod nano does not charge & is not recognized by computer or iTunes

    I have a 1st generation nano 1 GIG.
    It appears "dead."
It is not recognized by My Computer, iTunes or the Ipod Updater (The updater asks that I connect the iPod, which I do). The iPod diagnostics through iTunes also reports that my iPod is not connected.
I have tried my iPod on 4 different machines, with one of them having USB 2.0.
I tried the following from Jeff Bryan. (I don't know if the links from his post have carried over into this post.) So I will list the things I have tried near the end of this post.
    - My iPod won't turn on.
    - iPod battery doesn't charge.
    - iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
    - Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
    - iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
    - iPod does not appear in iTunes.
    - Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
I tried resetting my iPod by switching the Hold button on and off and then pressing Menu and the Select button for 6-10 seconds. I have done this over and over and over.
I have uninstalled the latest iTunes, reboot, reinstall - same problem.
I have stopped the iPod service, plugged in the iPod, but it isn't recognized by My Computer as stated in the Apple Do-It-Yourself Help. I launched iTunes - same problem.
I used the window cleanup utility, reboot, reinstall iTunes, connect iPod - same problem.
I have used the Windows ipconfig utility to change my boot parameters, but still nothing.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them.
My iPod is just shy of 6 months.
I do have a replacement contract with Best Buy - but I would like to cover all the bases before I succumb to defeat.

  • IPod nano will not charge when plugged into a computer, or power adapter

This is an 8gb iPod nano 4th gen. Today, I was playing it on the stereo, and it ran out of juice, so i plugged it into my computer to charge. It would flash the "Connect to Power" screen, then turn off, then turn on, showing the apple logo, a few seconds later it goes to the main screen. Almost immediately, it shows the "Connect to Power" screen again, and turns off. This cycle just repeats over and over again.
I have tried two different usb cord, and all of the ports on my iMac, in addition to a AC adapter/charger. Each time warranted the same results. I have tried the menu + center button reset multiple times, but to no avail. I would reformat it, but alas, neither itunes nor finder will recognize it.

Sounds like a dock connector problem on the Nano, check it and make sure there is not debris, lint, etc. and clean it if there is. Also, check for bent/damaged pins.
