Ipod Nano lack of Podcast menu

My iPod nano has no podcast menu. I just got it yesterday and it has them ost recent update but has no podcast menu. I have tried downloading podcasts but they don't appear in any menu. Any solutions?

1. Have you checked Music>Podcasts? (You may have to scroll down a little to see it).
2. Are you sure the podcasts are on your iPod? Go to Edit>Preferences>iPod>Podcasts>then make sure the appropriate settings are enabled.
3. Check for the artists of the podcast in the Artists section of Music. They show up there if they are on the iPod (although personally I don't like that).
Post back with results and I hope this helps!

  • How to Sync iPod Nano and iTune Podcasts

My 7th generation nano sync my music in iTune just fine, but having set up my iPod preferences, I can figure out how to sync podcasts.

    I meant can't sync podcasts.

  • IPod Nano lacks important feature which Shuffle has

I got myself a shuffle a few months ago and I think it's great. Recently I started wanting a screen to navigate through my music so I upgraded to the Nano. I've got a lot of music in iTunes and all of it is around 320aac or lossless.
So what am I getting at? I could fit MUCH MORE music on my Shuffle than on my nano, even though the Nano has 4 times the capacity!!! This is because of a little check box available to iPod shuffles which once ticked adds your music to your iPod at 128kbps.
It is completely useless that the Nano doesn't have this feature and I'm probably going to convert back to my Shuffle because of it - I want high quality music in my home but not necessarily on my iPod. I am aware that it would take ages to sync with higher capacities but please note this post is assuming you're in the manually manage music mode.
I suppose then this is a feature request unless the is infact a way around this currently within iTunes.
    Thanks

The shuffle is the only iPod that has an on-the-fly conversion option. For the larger iPods the files have to be converted in iTunes first or indeed have to have been imported in a more compressed format prior to transfer. If you have space on your hard drive one workaround in this case would be to use the "Sync Music - Selected Playlist" update option and sync the iPod using a playlist that contains only lower bit rate songs:Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Mac
As for having this option on other iPods a feature you can as you say post a feature request: Apple Product Feedback

  • Why isn't my ipod nano not getting podcasts after I switched to Windows 8

My old computer died recently, so I switched to a laptop that runs Windows 8.  I downloaded itunes on to it.  I can see the new podcasts download at the top of itunes, but these new episodes don't show up on my ipod.  When I click on My Ipod, the sync button on the bottom doesn't work.  I also cant find the bar that I used to use at the top to disconnect my ipod.
I've tried to remove all the apple software and reinstall, but I get the same results.
Please help, as now my ipod is useless without being able to download new podcasts.

  • Ipod nano not downloading podcasts

My ipod was downloading podcasts no problem, but since the last updater it is still downloading cd's but for some reason is not downloading any of my selected podcasts. the podcasts are showing in my library. thx

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There has been another updater since this post. Have you installed that?
Also, connect your iPod to the computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab. Click the podcasts tab under that. Make sure it is set to automatically update all podcasts (onto the iPod). Click OK.
    See if it works now.

  • Ipod nano 7th generation itunes u app???

i do not have an ipod nano, but i need further info about "iTunes u" on the 7th generation nano. i cant find any info, so i need some from u guys with nanos and itunes u.
i knew according 2 da user guide that the nano 7g has itunes u support, but did not give further info on it, so i need help on it in case i get a nano.

    Hello SoaringEagle7,
Thanks for the question. Yes, the iPod nano (7th generation) supports playback of iTunes U content, along with podcasts and audiobooks. You will need to download or subscribe to the content on your computer, then sync your iPod nano (much like podcasts).

  • Podcast Menu on 3G iPod?

    Hey Guys.
I recently bought an old 3G iPod (for the nostalgia) and it arrived this morning. I installed the latest iPod Firmware for the iPod, but for some reason, there is no Podcast menu on the iPod like there is on my 5G and nano.
Is there any way to get a Podcast menu on there? The only way i can access them now is either through artists or in the Podcast playlist.
    Thanks,
    *nathan

Happy Birthday indeed to version 2.3
Considering it's been this long since the last 3G firmware upgrade, im thinking more and more that Apple have stopped supporting this model. To quote another post I read on another site, I dont expect Apple to upgrade the firmware so i get a color screen and video playback.
I mean, even if the 3G firmware would just allow the iPod to bookmark when playing podcasts would be a big help. Combined with a lack of show notes (due to a lack of this feature), its almost impossible to find where you left off when listening to a long show like KFI Tech Guy.

  • Ipod nano resets when I click on music, and exit podcasts.

As the subject say's, on my 4GB black, ipod nano when I click on the music tab it resets, bringing up the apple logo and goes back to the main menu. Same thing happens when I exit the podcasts menu, I can listen to a podcast but when I exit podcasts and go back to the main menu it resets bringing up the apple logo again and going back to the main menu. I can do every thing else view Photos go into the Extras tab, Settings and even Shuffle Songs which play fine. I can enter and exit these with no problems. When I plug it in to my computer it's fine even in itunes it's fine I can play anything and do anything. I did a restore of the software already and it fixed nothing, I’m all out of ideas.
    Please help thanks.

    4GB ipod nano Windows XP

I think I figured it out. Podcasts are the culprit, if you set up you your iPod nano to automatically update podcasts and it downloads them on to the iPod, it causes an error in the iPods software, causing it to restart when you click on music or leave the podcast menus. So I changed the settings to manually update podcasts. Putting my podcasts manually onto the iPod, they show up in the Podcasts playlist under my iPod nano menu (which shows automatically) in iTunes. This is when the error starts, when I undock my iPod nano and go to music sure-enough it restarts, I plugged it back into my computer and deleted the podcasts, undocked it and it was working fine. I converted the podcasts to AAC and then put them on the iPod. They did not show in the Podcasts playlist, they just show as normal songs, and when I undock it it works fine. Now I know that they don’t have to go into that playlist and that I can create my own smart-playlist. But it should not do something like this. I’ll make a new thread about this problem.
Thank you all for the help.

  • So, I named my new ipod nano 7 and have the serial number on my itunes account. I still am not able to get any podcasts downloaded to it.

so, I named my new Nano7 and the serial number appears on my itunes account.
    But
when I have it plugged in it will not download the podcasts I loaded from itunes.
The podcasts automatically load on my older ipod nano when I plug it in.
How can I get my new Nano to recieve data?
    thanks

Before you sync, go to "podcast" in ipod upper menu. Make sure the "sync podcast"is ticked. If not, do accordingly and then sync again. Cheers!

  • Podcast woes, would like to downgrade firmware iPod nano (4th gen.)

    Hi,
Every since I upgrade my iPod nano to firmware version 1.0.4, I can't seem to make playlists where multiple podcasts play one after the other - in all cases, it plays one podcast, then stops. As I love listening to podcasts during running, this implies that I have to pull out the iPod every time and select a new podcast manually... quite annoying. This even holds for podcast playlists made "on the go" - it plays the first podcast, then stops.
In light of this, I'm wondering whether there's a way to downgrade the firmware, as if I recall correctly, 1.0.3 didn't have this issue. I can't seem to find the firmware anywhere, though, and from going through the discussion forum it doesn't seem to be something supported by Apple. I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this issue, either by pointing out a walkaround, or by indicating whether downgrading firmware is possible at all...
    Many thanks,
    Philipp

My 4th Gen iPod Nano won't turn on once it is off the USB cable. If it is connected to the iMac (iTunes 10.1 (54)) it works perfectly well (synchronizes, plays music). Have tried to reset it (holding the Menu and Center buttons) and to reset it to its original settings (current SW version is 1.0.4) and it still wont work.
    Any suggestions?
