IPod nano Lanyard Headphones

If you have the Lanyard headphones pluged in, can you plug in the ear buds from the top of the nano and still get sound? This is my way of avoiding buying a splitter. Will it work?
thanks.

on all nanos, the headphone hole is on the bottom. the only thing on the top of the nano is the hold switch.
unless i misunderstood your question, no, it won't work.

  • IPod Nano Lanyard Headphones - good?

    Hi all!
I am interested in purchasing a pair of the new lanyard headphones, just wondering if anyone has already got them and what they think of them? How secure is the nano hanging there? I'd be afraid of it detaching from the lanyard port and falling to the ground as I'm moving around.
    any input?
    thanks so much!

I wear my lanyard headphones underneath a dress shirt while at work! My orginal intention was to use it at the gym, no wires to get caught on weights, ect. However, I've decieded to keep using the arm band while at the gym b/c of sweat and stink!
So, the lanyard get's put on each morning and I have head phones comming out of my collar.
They aren't the best sounding headphones ever and like most apple products are very expensive but they are useful.

  • IPod nano Lanyard Headphones 2nd gen problem

I have been using it for about 3 months. The left ear one's volume suddenly decreases to about half of the right one's volume while I was listening for an hour. How long can this headphones last? Does it have any form of warranty? And is there any way to fix this?

  • Apple iPod NANO Lanyard

I would really like to buy the Apple iPod Nano Lanyard, it would be perfect for me. However after reading the reviews from the Apple store, I am afraid that my Nano will fall off and break or get lost after a short period of use. I can't afford to keep buying Nano's. Does anyone know if Apple has taken this problem to heart and fixed the problem, making it more secure? I can't believe that they would continue to sell a product that could cause you to loose such an expensive investment? If there has been a fix, does anyone know of a date to "buy after"?
    Thank you so much, Cinta

I have the lanyard and while I don't subject it to extreme pressure I have run around with it quite a bit with no ill effects. I am disappointed though that there is no mechanical release though. There are other options available that would have a separate lanyard earphones options. I love it and had to pick it up after having a shuffle but personally it's great.

  • IPod nano malfuctioning headphone port

My iPod nano was recently serviced for intermittently pausing and unpausing itself when no buttons were pressed, even when on hold. I put the reason down to a faulty headphone port as it has not paused itself when the headphones were taken out ever. This is a built-in feature of the iPod nano, and having a faulty headphone port would explain why it intermittently pauses itself. Apple service have replied in saying that there was no fault with the iPod.
This is utterly ridiculous as we have another iPod nano in the household which does not intermittently pause itself and does pause itself when the headphones are taken out of the headphone socket.
I am disgusted that Apple would sooner regard it as no fault than to try to fix it!
With all the good service and hardware over more than 13 years, I am very disappointed at Apple's response.

I have been frustrated greatly on Apple's behalf by this, but I would very much like to have my iPod nano fixed. It is completely useless listening to it when I am running or exercising as I have to continously stop to press play.
Is there any way for me to make sure that Apple fix the headphone port when it is serviced?

  • IPod Nano 6G headphone jack

I accidently dropped the ipod and the headphone jack (the hole where you insert the earphones) have been pushed in and I cannot insert any earphones in. Is it possible to get a replacement, i have purchased it at a store and still under warranty.

    "It's only a third..."
What does that mean? Somehow, the moisture sensor was activated. That does not mean that your iPod is going to fail. It does mean that, if you have a warranty claim, it is likely to be rejected due to exposure to moisture.

  • Ipod nano 7th headphone issues

I pod nano 7th when put the in ear headphones RHA approved apple  headphones in  cant hear anything but the nano plays the music track
So then push jack in with force  music heard but it slips down to default and music unheard again, it has to be pushed in hard in order to hear music which
    is far from ideal.
When try another pair apple headphones that arent in ear they work as they sit flush with the player but when rotate the jack music stops and they are for a shuffle not nano
Pacifically brought a pair of in hear ones as I cant  use the conventional kind as they fall out of ear now tried four pairs including the padded ear kind
What can possibly try these arent cheap headphones and the player is only a year old, but not covered under warranty.
Tried to put it to factory settings restore it same thing.

If it is only happening when you connect it using the Lightning cable I would guess you have a bad cable.

  • Using iPod nano in cold wheather

I go for a run everyday with my iPod nano. It is covered with a nano tube and invisible shield to protect it and to cover up the 2 scratches I made. So I am very pleased with it. But now that winter is coming up, that means another harsh Canadian winter. Temperatures are usually around -15 C (5 F) in the morning. I use the iPod nano lanyard headphones, and I figured if I placed it in my jacket, it would help it heat up a bit. I know it says the the iPod nanos work best at 0 C (32 F) and higher, but I'm wondering how cold they can actually work. And is it bad for the iPod nano making it suffer in the cold?

Due to the chemical make up of batteries, playing an iPod in a very cold environment decreases battery life. Unlike a hot environment, this is a temporary condition. Once molecules in the battery warm up, the battery will return to its previous capacity.
iPod Temperate Zone. Your iPod works best from 32° to 95°F. You should store it in environments of -4° to 113°. That’s 0° to 35°C and -20° to 45° for the metrically inclined. Keeping your iPod as near room temperature as possible (22°C) is ideal.

  • Lanyard headphones: why did apple discontinue them for ipod nano?

i'd love to purchase the new generation of ipod nano (i need more HD space on my 2nd gen ipod nano), but i have a basic need for the lanyard style headphones. i can't bring myself to wear the old style headphones (i have many bad memories of dropping the lanyard-less ipods).
i have never had a problem with the lanyard design in the 4+ years that i've used them. why did apple stop production?
and, more importantly, does apple have any plans to bring back lanyard headphones in the future?
    thank you.

Since we are all end users like you, nobody here would have the answers to such questions.  Only apple knows.  Either way, I suggest you leave feedback to Apple through one of their feedback channels.

  • Nano tubes with lanyard headphones

Hi i just brought of apple website the tubes for my ipod nano for the best protection, i am woundering does the lanyard headphones connect to the case, and are there any good and does the nano feal secure hanging on there? thanks for the help

I've had the lanyard a couple of weeks now. It connects via the USB and headphone ports, covering both of them, and it's very secure and attracts a lot of attention to the nano hanging around your neck. I take the nano to the gym and run for an hour and the connection is just as tight at the end of my run as it is at the beginning.
One thing, though: I'm soaking wet by the end of the hour and so is the lanyard. I'm sure that in a few weeks it's going to stink like the inside of a gym locker and I'm going to have to figure out a way to deodorize it.
Another thing: Don't exercise with the nano resting against your sweaty wet skin. It isn't waterproof. I speak from experience: my first nano fried itself 45 minutes into treadmill run. I was pouring sweat and could only surmise that water had gotten into its innards somehow. (After reading about some of the nano failures here, I'm not so sure anymore, but still -- better to err on the side of caution.) Lucky for me, the nano was still returnable and I got a new one, for which I've ordered a sturdy case.
I'll be interested to see if the added weight of the case (Agent 18 shield) affects the strength of the lanyard's grip on the nano. I doubt it, though. That thing is on tight.
One final thing: you have to take the lanyard off to charge the nano and put new songs on it. Over time, repeated removals might loosen the lanyard's grip.

  • Will nano's lanyard+headphone be available for shuffle?

I like hte design of the new lanyard+headphone for ipod nano, wondering if I could get it for shuffle too.

I just "modded" the existing lanyard/headphones. A simple knot makes the laynard shorter (just able to fit over my hear). I used PVC tape to gather most of the headphone cord into a small loop.
I've considered using tape to make a nano-style lanyard/headphone combo but I don't tend to have headphones with me most of the time (I have different headphones for work and home and I use a cassette adapter while driving around).

  • I recently purchased a bluetooth headphone set that I have been able to pair to my iphone6 , but it is not showing up on my ipod nano 7th gen, anyone else had a similar problem ?

anyone had trouble syncing a bluetooth headset to an ipod nano 7th gen ? I was able to sync to my iphone6 , but no luck with the ipod, even after a reset & several attempts

THanks for the suggestion deggie , but I have already tried this without any success. I just mentioned pairing it to prove that the headphones weren't defective. I also tried reaeting the ipod through itunes hoping that might help , but still no detection on the ipod

  • Is there a way to listen to radio on iPod nano 7th gen with Bluetooth headphones?

I know the iPod nano 7th gen uses the headphones as an antenna. I know there will need to be some sort of antenna attached. Does anybody know if there is an antenna on the market that can be plugged into the headphone jack that will allow audio to be sent to a pair of Bluetooth headphones?

There is currently no such antenna available.

  • My headphones will no longer fit in my iPod nano, is it broken?

I recently went to listen to my iPod nano and I went to put in my earphones and they would not fit into the jack in the ipod.  I had listened to my iPod (with the headphones) a couple days earlier, and it had been in a safe place, where it wouldn't get banged around.  Is the iPod broken? Any suggestions of what it could be?

The headphone jack on the newer 6G Nanos is a bit tighter compared to previous generations.  It requires a bit of extra force to get them to fully insert.  You should hear a sort of popping/clicking when inserting the headphones letting you know the plug has been fully seated.

  • IPod nano 7th gen (brand new) doesn't recognize Headphones

I have a brand new iPod nano (7th gen), and it doesn't detect when headphones are plugged in. I have read that the problem can ocurr because the headphones are not correctly inserted or that the headphone jack has dust inside. As i always do on a regular basis with mp3 devices, i cleaned out the jack to be sure
    This is what happens:
When music is not playing i hear a crackle pop sound every 2 seconds or so. My headphones are perfectly fine and work with my Samsung galaxy s4 and my old iPod touch, and my brothers iPhone. Just don't work with iPod nano. I have 3 pairs of headphones all which do not work but I do not have the original headphones. they are so uncomfortable and seems unfair to me that apple would have a one size fits al headphone that only works with the device. I do not intend on switching.
When I play a song, and then press the sleep/wake button to turn off the display, the music stops. Or if I let the music play, it stops when the screen times out and turns off. These two things occur because the iPod "thinks" that there are no headphones inserted.
When I try to activate the FM radio, the radio won't start because it says that there is no radio signal (which occurs when no headphones are connected).
Needless to say, the microphone and volume controls of the iPhone headset, don´t work at all (they even work on the iPod shuffle!).. and because of this, no voice recording for me!
I have also restored the device in iTunes, and updated with no luck.....
Thanks in advance for any useful answer!
    iPod nano

First, make sure the headphones plug is completely inserted into the nano's headphones jack.  It should "click" into place.  The fit may be tighter than expected, especially when new.  There is a sensor in there, and if the plug is not completely inserted, you may get some sound, but the nano will not "sense" the headphones.
If that is not the problem, you should have the nano looked at under warranty.  It should work with any standard headphones. If there is an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar and take it there.
