IPod Nano locked on restore screen...

My iPod Nano appeared to be dead but I finally reset it after a couple of weeks by holding the center and menu button down while having it plugged into the wall... Now I cannot get off the screen that says I must restore in all of the different languages... Is there any way humanly possible to get it off that screen so I can get my music?

I figured it out.

Suggestions?

    - After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod?  If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
    - If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

I had my Ipod nano 7th Gen factory restored. Nano touch works smooth without any song in-it but after i have any of the songs shifted from itunes, touch buttons get messed up. They don't work. Help me in over coming this issue.

    Hello Rohantm,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod nano (7th generation) touch screen.  I recommend the following steps for the issue you described (you can skip the steps you have already tried):
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.

Apple will not just "give" you a new one. Apple will replace the iPod for their standard out-of-warranty replacement charge:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
The replacement may be refurbished or new, at Apple's discretion, and there will be no way for you to tell the difference.

  • TS1412 any ideas about how to fix an iPod Nano with a white screen??

any ideas about how to fix an iPod Nano with a white screen??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod nano lock symbol

I have a lock symbol in the upper left hand corner of my ipod nano screen. it is an 8 gig ipod serial number 7N742LNSYXX with software version 1.1. I cannot do anything with the screen such as scrolling in order to play music.
I restored what I guess is the operating system in itunes...which subsequently wiped out my library. Still, the lock symbol is there and I cannot use it.
I never set any sort of code in order to lock up my ipod so that nobody else could use it.
I have plugged the ipod into my computer and booted up itunes in order to find a way of getting rid of the lock symbol. No luck. As it stands, this ipod is worthless to me.
    Thanks

Those are the only 2 solutions, your iPod is broken and cannot be cheaply restored. Sell it on ebay as broken, you might get enough fo a 3rd or 4th gen iPod Nano.

  • Ipod nano "locked symbol in itunes

my ipod nano g1 has a small padlock icon in itunes when i select music at the bottom were it says how much u have on ur ipod, i have restored it twice reset it, nothing works. i can only put songs on it through the auto update wen u first plug ur ipod into the comp, so i cant play songz from my ipod in itunes or manage them

A lock symbol at the bottom of the screen and grey text when you look at the content simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to manual in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing content manually on iPod
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

  • Ipod Nano Locked and impossible to unlock!!!

Last time I charged my 2G Ipod Nano I noticed it was locked: the lock icond appeard on the screen but the hold button was not on the hold position.
After it got charged, I was unable to unlock it, the hold button does not respond.
I don't know what to do and I fear I have messed it in a way it won't be able to function again.
    Please help me!

Well, first of all install ipod updater. You get it here at apple.com. I did this when my ipod was skipping songs it fixes problems for a month but then well they come back... Anywho restart and restore your nano (i know it ***** but this deletes all the songs on your nano). If thaat does not work take it to the apple store and explain the problem and they will either replace it or tell you how to fix it.

  • Ipod Nano Locked Up PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok, I purchased a second generation 4gig green Ipod nano on Monday. For some strange reason today it locked up. Now it refuses to work at all. It is stuck with the backlight on and the music paused. I do not know what I did worng or if it is my Ipod. It was working perfectly. Then I pressed pause and it screwed up. If nobody can help me by tommorrow I will have to take it back. Also, my computer just managed to detect it. It told me I should restore it so I told it yes. Now it keeps having the error message "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." Somebody please help me.
      Windows Vista

Igor, could you tell me what you did to fix it? My
iPod fell out of my locker and now my iPod's stuck on
    hold!
Are yu saying that the hold switch doesn't work to get it out of "Hold"? Have you tried (with the hold switch in the left or off position) to reset it: press and hold Menu and Select (center) buttons at the same time for at least 6 seconds?

  • My ipod nano (6th gen)'s screen don't turned on... when resetting it, the screen turns to white.. the most worst is, it doesn't work out...

I really don't know to fix it... What happen was, when i played my ipod nano, it turns to white... i don't know if I accidentally clicked anything on the screen or the buttons at the side of the device... What i did was, I connected it in my laptap because I was thinking that maybe my ipod was in hang mode. When I was able to connect it, the itunes recognized it but I can't played the music and the screen in my ipod screen was still white... SO, I restored it in factory setting... the same thing happen... i don't know what happen, so I need your help...

You can work through the remaining five 5 R's of troubleshooting.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

    Hi jkjuarez2012,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPod nano is only showing the Apple logo with a white background, and you've tried many good steps including resetting and restoring the device. I know I'd miss my music in this situation.
Make sure that you followed the steps in this article when restoring your iPod:

If the issue continues after restoring, your iPod nano may need to be serviced. You can use this link to find out more about iPod service:

  • IPod nano locked with folder and exclamation

I have received today a new iPod nano and it has worked just for an hour. In the middle of a transfer from my pc it got locked. I tried everything but to no avail. It doesn't reset pressing select and menu and it doesn't restore with iPod updater, because it cannot write to it. All I see is the folder with an exclamation mark and the support page ("www.apple.com/support/ipod"). So I am lost.
    Any help?

If you put it in disk mode, then try connecting to the computer and restoring.
    Also, see this...

  • Ipod nano 6th gen touch screen stopped working please help

Everything on the ipod nano 6th gen is working except the touch screen and once it goes to sleep i have to hold the sleep button and the volume down button to turn it back on. I went into the volume -, sleep, volume + menu and went through the tests and in the touch panel error check section it says i have IC error reported: 0xFFFFFFFF. Please help as i have reset and restored and update itunes etc. Do i need to send it in to apple? The touch screen was working at one stage and then i disconected from the computer while it said eject first (this is when the touch screen stopped working) and put the ipod on a different computer. The first computer was windows 7 which i used just to charge it a little and the second one im using is windows vista.

I have had the same problem and changed three Nano's. Each time the fault is diagnosed by Apple as "water damage".
If you take your Nano to one of their maintenance centres they will look into either the headphone socket or the power dock and and tell you that you have infringed the warranty by somehow getting the thing wet.
Basically is a poorly designed piece of kit whereas a simple shuffle is way more robust.
I have given up with my Nano and am now using an old model
