Ipod Nano Loosing Songs

I was told that once you load the songs onto the Ipod Nano and if you delete the songs from your PC you than loose all your songs that are on the Ipod Nano when you connect it to your PC again. This will cause you to start all over again with loading new songs onto the Nano ?

Most choose to simply keep an exact copy of all or part of their library on their Ipod and never take it off their computer. However if you wish to manually control the ipod and not leave all the songs on your computer (i would highly recommend backing the songs up first) you can use manuel syncing. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt3.html

  • Music downloads to iPod Nano from songs that are only available in iCloud.

I'm trying to add music to my sons iPod Nano that myself and my older son have on our iPhone and iPod touch. When I try to copy these songs over to the Nano it tells me it cannot be copied because it is only available in iCloud. It then states I need to download the items from iCloud before they can be copied to the iPod. How to I download songs from iCloud that are currently showing in my music library?

  • ITunes/iPod nano & chinese song names [please help]

i own an iPod nano 4gb.
first question is is there a setting i can choose (either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the default? anyone that has chinese songs with chinese characters will notice that the font as compared to english text is relatively lighter (not as bold). hence, it is harder to read.
second question concerns chinese music. all my songs are chinese and the song names, artist names, album names etc are in chinese characters. those files that appear with chinese characters by default on Windows appear fine on the iPod nano as well. however, most of my songs require a program called NJStar Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese characters - those that have chinese music should know what i'm talking about. without NJStar, the names just appear as random symbols in Windows. the problem is, all of the songs that require NJStar appear on the iPod nano as symbols despite the fact that they appear as chinese characters on iTunes when NJStar is turned ON. when NJStar is turned OFF, the names are just displayed as symbols on iTunes. irregardless of whether i update my iPod nano when NJStar is on or off, the names remain as symbols on the iPod nano and i was just wondering if anyone knows how i can fix this or perhaps it's just tough cookies XD
    any information is much appreciated,
    many thanks.

    No.
    however, most
of my songs require a program called NJStar
Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese
    characters -
I think NJStar uses an encoding which is not compatible with iTunes or iPod. You need to convert the ID3 tags of the songs that require NJStar to display correctly to Unicode. I have heard that ConvertZ is a program that might help do this.

  • Ipod Nano skipping songs... IPod or ITunes issue?

I purchased an IPod Nano and signed up for ITunes. I purchased a CD from ITunes and synced it with my IPod. That worked fine except for one huge issue - the IPod skips right over 5 out of the 12 songs on the CD! The songs play fine through my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2), just not on the IPod.
Is this an IPod issue or an ITunes issue? Has anyone dealt with this before?
    Tony

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:

  • IPod nano transfer songs to an iBook

    Hi
I just had a major problem with my trusted iBook, and I had to get my hard drive replaced, it was done by an apple certified shop/technician. The problem is that I lost my original iTunes music/photo library.
The songs and the pictures are still on my iPod nano 8gb. My wife's songs are still on her iPod nano 4gb. Both iPods are less than 6 months old.
Can I transfer my songs and pictures from my iPod back to my iBook?
    Are there any possible problems?
I tried with my shuffle and all the songs were deleted from it!
    Did I do something wrong?
I don't want to have to spend quite a long time transfering the songs again.
Also, my iBook's CD ROM drive is a bit dodgy now, as sometimes it reads the CD and transfers ok, sometimes it just ejects it!
    Look forward to your help
    Thanks
    James

    Hi Mitch
Does it matter which version of iTunes is installed on my iBook and the version of software on my iPod.
On my iBook, there is version 4.7.1 and on my iPods I have Version 1.1.2.
I cannot use version 7.1.1 of iTunes as my iBook does not have 256 MB SDRAM only 192 MB SDRAM.
Look forward to your comments again.
    Thanks
    James

  • 1st Gen Ipod Nano  - Shuffle Songs Issue

Everyday I take my 1st gen ipod nano with me for a walk and just select shuffle songs. My walk takes about an hour, but my nano in shuffle mode seems to play alot of the same songs over and over everyday in shuffle mode. I have almost 800 songs on the nano. Is there someway of getting my nano to shuffle up the songs a little better so that I'm not hearing the same songs over and over?

I am having the exact same issue with my iPod, 5th generation. I would like to know if there is a way to change the setup so it will shuffle it better.

  • IPod nano skipping song

Hi all. I downloaded a song from the itunes music store and uploaded it it my nano (1gb), after about 16-19 seconds, it will skip to the next song. I have checked the settings for it on itunes, tried the 5 r's and taken it out from the library and added it again but to no prevail. The song will play all the way through on 2 computers. Any help will be greatly accecpted. Thanks
Self Built   Windows XP Pro   1GB iPod Nano, XP desktop + laptop (painfully saving for a 17" Core 2 Duo iMac)

I too am having songs getting cut off problem on a gen1 Nano. I've read through the Apple discussions and I've tried the 5R's several times, rebuilt the iTunes library, completely reformating the nano by writing zeros over the data, restoring back to an earlier version (1.1 and 1.2) and still the same thing. Digging into this further, I find the same songs do not cut off on my G2 20gig iPod, only on the Nano. I only started noticing this problem when I updated to iTunes 7 and the iPod updates that went with it- it doesn't mean the problem wasn't happening earlier, just that I wasn't noticing it.
Digging still further, I find only a few songs have this problem (I've found 7 out of out >4,200) and that they seem to match up. Song A stops ~30 sec before the end and song B stops ~30 sec from the beginning. Song C stops ~54 sec from the end and song D stops ~54 sec from the beginning. Further, these 7 songs were all downloaded from iTMS between 9/17/05 and 12/11/05 (I bought a total of 30 songs during that period, but have only found 7 that are afflicted so far).
Lastly, if I burn those songs to disk as an MP3 and reimport them, the songs play in their entirety. Sadly no solutions here, just observations.

  • In an iPod Nano 6 songs will not play in A-Z order.

I have over 100 songs in one playlist.  This concerns an iPod Nano 6.  The songs are in alphabetical order on my Nano.  The songs will not play in alphabetical order and skips around.  How can I corredt this problem?

It's not a "problem," if the iPod is set to shuffle.  On page 21 of the 6th gen nano's manual
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1551/en_US/iPod_nano_6thgen_User_Gu ide.pdf
find the shuffle button on the Now Playing screen (it looks like two arrows crossing).  Tap it to toggle between shuffling the current song list and playing it in order.

  • I have 2nd gen iPod nano with songs from iTunes but also burnt from CDs. I now have a new laptop currently without iTunes or any music on. Is there anyway for me to connect the iPod to iTunes on the laptop and not loose all of the songs on it?

Pretty much as it says above. I don't want to loose all my old songs that weren't downloaded and am wondering if there's anyway that I can make sure there safe to connect it to a new laptop with no music on at present.
Any help or advice would be great :-)
    Thanks

Thanks for trying, no it did not help. The article describes getting song from apple devices to PC, not the other way around. I will try ringing tech support tomorrow.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Ipod Nano sync songs but when play song it stops

    HI,
When I listen to the song in Itunes the whole song plays well. Once I sync the nano the same song plays for a few seconds and stops. Can anyone help me with this? What can I do to fix it?

This issue has been posted several times; try to search for "ipod skipping songs".

  • IPod nano "forgets" song screen when it wakes. Anyone know how to fix that?

II've had my 7th gen nano for almost a year and suddenly when I'm playing a song, and it goes to sleep, it wakes to the  home screen instead of then of the
song  screen. This is really annoying when I'm trying to quickly navigate. There are also some slip ups with is goes to sleep while recording a voice memo. Everything works fine when nano is plugged in and I hit power since it can't sleep while plugged in, which isn't helpful. Anybody experience this or know how to fix it? I've reset settings and shut it down already! nothing. Thank you!

If you did the Reset (to restart the iPod)
Reset your iPod - Apple Support
you may need to do a Restore using iTunes
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
This will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.

  • Ipod nano jumps songs without being shaken

I use my ipod for teaching line dancing so I have several playlists.  The ipod is set on a speaker system so everyone can hear.  Every now and then, lately more and more often, it will jump in the middle of the song to another song.  It is totally erratic.  It does not jump to another song in the playlist but to something in my music list.  I am not touching the ipod at the time this happens and we are on a linoleum covered concrete floor so the table and/or ipod is not being jostled in any way.  I am frustrated.  I tried turning the shake to shuffle off, but then it repeats the same song over and over again.  With the shake to shuffle feature turned on, I really have to shake very hard in order for it to change so I don't think that is why it is jumping.  Has this happened to anyone else?

My co-worker is going through the same thing. I reset her iPod for her twice and it just keeps doing it. It will only play one song her entire library. It skips everything else, even when the hold is on. She got all her music off cds and she doesn't use the wall charger at all. She updated the software but that didn't help her at all. Does anyone else have any other possible solutions besides restoring it?

  • IPod nano playing song, stopped midsong, blank screen and can't reboot

Anyone else encounter this problem? Am I missing a simple step to get this iPod rolling again? Or is it a trip to Wal-Mart for a replacement? It stopped working during the SECOND song it has ever played. Quite disappointed and a major hassle.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
I can't even get the thing to show up in iTunes.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Try the steps listed here...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303545
Is your iPod recognized by iTunes? What happens when you try and restore it? Does the restore process not begin? Or does it complete and the iPod still shows that screen? Does iTunes say it is done restoring?

  • IPod Nano repeats song endlessly. Is this a setting I've overlooked

My Nano continually repeats a song until I use the 'next song' button. Ii this a setting I've overlooked? I find no reference to this in the manual

With the song playing swipe left.  This will reveal a secondary screen where you can turn on and off both 'repeat' and 'random'.
