Well if your iPod is not appearing under Devices in iTunes when you have it plugged into a high powered USB 2.0 port, then that would explain why this newly loaded CD has not synced to it yet.
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

6th Gen ipod nano not showing up at all.

I recently bought an ipod nano 6th gen off Amazon and it turned on and is function fine, but I can't sync it with my current library. I'm using the same cord I use on my ipod touch so I assume it's fine there, I've just updated my itunes library and I've already searched through device manager, My computer and itunes to find the device, but it's not showing up anywhere. Any help please?

Me neither. I know the USB cable works okay with your iPod Touch, but can you try another cable just to see if that makes a difference?
Also look at the Nano's dock connector to make sure it is clean and clear of debris or damage.
And if nothing else, return it while you still can for a refund or replacement.

hi,
when i connect my ipod to my computer it charges but does not show under itunes or in windows. i've tried all the Rs except one...restore. and the only reason i haven't tried restore is because i can't access my ipod under itunes to run the restore! someone pls help if u can...i'm just about ready to smash the thing!i've spent hours these past two weeks trying to get it to open under itunes with no luck. sometimes it pops up as a "new device that is not working properly", but then it just disappears again and i can't find it under my devices!! somebody, anybody, pls help!

I have a simelar problem. My wife had an ipod mini which was synced to itunes, I brought her a 4GB ipod nano yesterday and I told her just plug it into the computer and then it will have auto instructions.
Actually what happens is nothing, I plug it in and it charges, nothing else. I have uninstalled itunes and downloaded it again but it still has my mums ipod mini songs on there.
basically the ipod does not seem to sync with itunes...any help will be appriciated.

IPod Nano not showing movie artwork in list view.

h title says it all. If you look at the photo over here, you see the videos icons are not displayed at the bottom of the screen in list view. Normally artworks will scroll from right to left gradually if artworks are present.
These are my own videos (no bought from itunes), and they all have artworks. These artworks shows up in itunes but not in my ipod.
Anyone knows how to get the icon showing in ipod nano?

Connect your iPod to the computer and when the summary comes up click on the restore button and see if that works.

Have installed iPod nano 4GB on Winxp pro service pack2 usb2.0. first install was with original cd. failed. tried all suggested remedies on apples site. failed
downloaded fresh updates which were the same versions. installed and failed
iPod shows in my computer and also as a running process but fails to show in
iTunes or to auto start iTunes. have also tried both front and rear usb ports, the 6 second hold routine , and singing God save the Queen....but to no avail.
are there any known conflicts with programs....have tried suspending AVG durring install. This is a brand new iPod. All ideas welcomed thankfully. also ran tests in diagnostic mode and had a fail on wheeltest...spinwheel. Is this a critical factor?

I think the problem is the ipod updater software. I had the same problem when i applied the updater to 3 brand new nanos. I found a discussion thread which suggests that you format the ipod drive, which seemed to work. Basically you need to right-click on the ipod drive in your windows explorer folder view and select format. You may need to disconnect and reconnect your ipod to get this to work but once it has been formatted your i-tunes should recognise your nano.

IPod Touch or iPod Nano not showing in the Finder

Even though appearing OK in iTunes, they do not appear as drives in the Finder like CD's and DVD's.
What is the problem?

You need to enable disk use for the iPod nano. The iPod touch doesn't provide Finder access.

Ipod nano not showing in windows or iTunes

I've just purchased a new 7th. gen Nano. I have a windows 7 laptop with iTunes 11.1.5.5 that is working fine with an ipod clasic.
When I plug the nano in it doesn't show up in itunes or windows file manager. The only place I can see it is under Device Manager where it appears under other devices with no driver installed. If I try to install a driver it fails saying "Windows found a driver software for your device but encountered an error attempting to install it, USB MAss Storage Device.Access is Denied'
Any ideas anyone please????

Ipod Nano not showing in my computer or iTunes - have done everything?

I am running Windows XP Home Edition on a Dell Inspiron 8500. I have done and checked everything including running Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and reinstalling iTunes 8; resetting ipod which works fine; checking IEEE 1394 card. One thing that doesn't show is in Device Manager/UBS Controllers it doesn't show it connected not even as a mass storage device. I have worked on this stupid thing all day and now it's 11:30 pm and still not working. It seems like there are a lot of people with the same problem. Someone please help. I don't know what to do next.
I also have a ipod shuffle and it doesn't see it either; however, it does see it and work under Windows Media Player, but the Nano doesn't work there either.
HELP PLEASE

To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button.
When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

My mom has a 4GB 1st generation nano and I've been trying to add new songs via iTunes. I have tried all the suggestions for "iPod appears in Windows but not iTunes" article and I still cannot get her ipod to show up in iTunes. The computer I'm trying to get the ipod to work on is a desktop computer running Windows XP. I tried my mom's ipod on my laptop computer thinking maybe it was a problem with the ipod or the cable. It worked just fine. I have Windows 7 running an identical version of iTunes. I'm a grad student and I'm just home for the summer. I need solve this problem and fix my mom's ipod so it will work on her own computer while I'm away. Is there anything else I can do to get her iPod to show up in iTunes?

I recently had a problem with my nano 4 GB so I restored it to its original factory settings. Now when I plug it in to the computer it shows up in My COmputer but NOT in Itunes. I tried the troubleshooting techniques on the apple ipod suppport page for this problem and they didnt work. When I plug in my 4 GB Mini ipod, it shows up on Itunes so Its not a problem with itunes or the cable.
SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!! i would reeeallly like to avoid having it serviced. THank you!

Ipod Nano not showing with enough memory

I reset my Nano, without any songs on it is is saying my memory available is 3.7GB not 4. Why is this?

Manufacturers define a kilobyte as having 1000 bytes, while computers define a kilobyte as 1024 bytes. Therefore, you usually won't be able to use the advertised capacity on an iPod or other portable storage device; this works out to a drive advertised as 4GB having about 3.72GB of usable capacity.

Tried everything i can find, ipod nano not recognized by win explorer or itunes.

ipod nano not showing in windows explorer or itunes. tried every fix i can find, still won't connect. It will connect to another computer, but don't want try a factory restore, it may not work and i lose all my music.
