How can I use my iPod nano on more than one computer?

    Hi, China6450.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would recommend setting up Manually manage music.  This will only allow music to be synced from the computer to the iPod nano.  Here are some helpful articles that will walk you through the process.

  • Using Ipod Nano on more than one Comp

Can you use IPOD Nano on more than one computer? I tried but on my computer at work, I cannot transfer from IPOD to computer, only computer to IPOD
    Please Help!!

I should be able to play it where ever I want
And you can. Just burn it to a data CD, or transfer it to the other computer using a thumb drive, or use networking to transfer it, or even use the Hard Drive feature of the iPod to transfer it. Nothing stops you from doing any of those, and then when it's on the other computer you can play it there just fine.

Yes long as you have it set to manual update. If you started syncing to your home PC, connect it there and rightclick it in itunes, hit options and select "Manual Update" and hit OK.
Now you can connect it to your home and work PC and manually drag and drop songs to it. Now if your buying music on the work PC, you will also want to use windows to add the music files to the iPod, so when you get home you can add these music files to your home PC and make backups

    Thanks!

  • Can i sync my iphone and ipod's to more than one computer?

Can i sync my iphone 4 and ipod's (we have #) to more than one compute? so we call all share the music.
Also can you inport music from an ipod to itunes? (music has already been deleted from the library)

Switching the computer will erase your device and replace the content of it with the content of the new iTunes library. But you can share your music by using Home Sharing. iTunes: Understanding Home Sharing
Purchased music can be copied back by using "transfer purchases" from the iTunes menu or, if not purchased from iTunes, by using 3rd party software http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Using Nano on more than one computer

Is the iPod Nano crippled like the Shuffle? I.e., is it tied to only one computer or does it behave like other iPods?
    Thanks
    JHTH

Is the iPod Nano crippled like the Shuffle?
Depends on what you mean by crippled. I have an iPs and it doens't seem to be crippled to me, but some people consider the lack of a screen to be crippling.
does it behave like other iPods?
Mine misbehaves all the time. I have to continually put it in time-out and even that only lasts for a few hours. Then it misbehaves again.

  • Is it possible to use a bought iPod game on more than one iPod?

My dad bought a game for his iPod and I don't know if or how I can use it on mine, too. Is it possible? If so, how?

I have an iPod nano (3rd gen) and he has iPod video (5th gen). He and I use the same computer, and iTunes, for our iPods.

  • TS3716 Connecting iPod nano 3rdGen to ipad air, is this possible as I no longer have a PC to manage iTunes library?

Hello I no longer have access to a PC for iTunes library but have just purchased an ipad air and wondered if it's possible to use the air to manage my iTunes library for my iPod nano 3rd gen ?
    Thanks

i noticed this as a bug in iTunes. make sure the correct file is selected in the preferences menus. It does not have to be the default location directiory as Vazandrew stated. your iTunes music library can be anywhere you want it. i have mine on an external cuz i'm a dj and have over 80,000 songs.
once you select/verify the location of your music library, simply drag the folder into the left panel in iTunes from a finder window. iTunes does not automatically add the items like it use to for some reason.

  • Need more than 8 Audio Streams - Possible solution

Referring to this topic (now archived so cannot reply): http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12870874
Wikipedia DVD entry "DVDs can contain more than one channel of audio to go together with the video content, supporting a maximum of 8 simultaneous audio tracks per video. This is most commonly used for different audio formats—DTS 5.1, AC-3 2.0 etc.—as well as for commentary and audio tracks in different languages."
I thought I better reply to the post above as it this work-around might not be obvious at first. In the post jasdipBoy asks is it possible to have more than 8 audio streams (i.e. languages) on DVD Studio Pro. Unfortunately you can't as the Wikipedia entry says, but as a possible work-around you could always have the same video twice - on two different tracks and split the audio/languages between the two.
The issues you should be aware of is the lack of being able to select each language while playing the video (as some of the languages will be on another track) and if you can actually fit the video twice on the DVD as this method will take twice the space.
But most DVD consumers select the language in the DVD menu anyway so as long as you build that selection into the menu, you should be covered.

    Hi,
You could make a two disc set and split the language options,
They make a two disc case that would hold it and look profesional.

  • More than one external display possible?

    Hey all,
I was wondering if there was a way of running more than one external monitor from my Macbook. I use the Macbook in my home recording studio for Logic Pro 8 but the screen is quite small to work with. I would love to work with dual external monitors so i do not have to look at the macbook screen at all.
I'm guess this is not possible considering the Macbook only has one mini-DVI out ??
Thanks for all your time reading this,
    Steve.

I feel your pain Da BomB!
You will have to settle for what I have done - have a dual screen set up with one screen being an external monitor and the other being your little Macbook screen. I have tried to make the most of this compromise by just going for the biggest external TFT that I found affordable on ebay (20").
Its a petty no monitor manufacturer came up with the idea of 'daisy chaining' screens!

  • More Than One User ID Possible?

Is it possible to have more than one user ID on one account to enable other people in the same household to watch BT Sport?
I houseshare with one other person and access to BT Broadband is included in my rent.  However, if I have to use the main user ID to access BT Sport the account holder, rightly, won't be too happy as his personal info could be viewed/used by me if I was so inclined, which I'm not, but if I was the main account holder I wouldn't want anyone, unrelated or related, having access to my account details.
There are other previous posts on this subject but they aren't that recent and the situation could have changed in the interim.

Could you not buy a chromecast for around £30 pounds and put that into your tv . I think than you only need the hub/wifi password for it to work .
You still need to sign in to btsport before you stream it to the chromecast connected to the tv

  • IPod synced to more than one library

This morning, I plugged my iPod video into my MacBook at work to copy some large files to take home. To my horror, it automatically started to update my iPod (this iPod is synced to my main Library on my Power Mac a home). Needless to say, it erased 6000 songs and replaced it with a playlist of all purchased songs residing on my MacBook's library.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm confused as to what when wrong here; did my iPod suddenly think that my MacBook contained my main iTunes Library? Or did my MacBook suddenly think that my iPod was my nano, which is the iPod I usually sync with my MacBook for music I listen to at the gym?
This has never happened before although it has been a while since I used my iPod video as an external drive to copy files from my MacBook.

Thanks, QuickDraw. I know you had good intentions. I was just really ****** off yesterday when it happened. In all the years I've had iPods and used iTunes, I've been fortunate enough to not have any major problems whatsoever so this one really stumped me. Anyway, this sympton might be connected to my recent upgrade to iTunes 7.0.2. I had held off for the longest time because I didn't feel the need to change anything. I actually did it by accident when I was installing Security Updates via Software Update last week. I forgot to uncheck the iTunes update. I'm gonna browse the forum a little bit more and see if I can get any ideas.
So to sum up, iTunes Library on my MacBook at work belongs to my nano (which I use for working out). It is set up to sync to specific playlists and is working fine. iTunes Library on my Power Mac at home belongs to my iPod video which is working fine also because I synced all my 6000+ songs again this morning. What's questionable is why my MacBook erased my iPod video by auto syncing "Purchased" and "On-the-Go" playlists when I only wanted to use it as an external drive.

  • Can I sync ipod touch with more than one PC?

    Hi all
I'll go and buy a ipod touch 4G tomorrow or Thursday down my Apple store.
My problem is my home desktop PC that I normally use to sync music and apps is currently in pieces waiting for some new parts. So I'll use an old windows XP laptop to active the ipod touch when I get it.
My question is if I active the ipod with the laptop, can I also sync it with my desktop PC later on?
Or another way to ask the same question: is the ipod touch restricted to one computer or one itune account?
Thanks for your help guys and girls.

Thanks, one more question if you don't mind. If I activate the ipod through itune software installed on a remote hard drive and copy the itune folder from the hard drive to my PC later on. Do you still think the ipod which sync with contents on my PC?

  • How do I get my 4th gen iPod to synch more than a handful of songs?

I have a 4th gen iPod clickwheel (20GB). At one point I was able to synch most of my music library onto the device. Now every time I try to synch, it will take about a third of my songs and then the battery runs out and I get the message that the iPod cannot be synched. When I charge up the iPod again, I have a total of about 10 sings on it. What's causing this? How do I fix it?

You could get a cable such as this one.
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1526&sku=35502
It has the dock connector on one end fro connection to the iPod and then two connectors on the other end, one for connecting to the firewire charger you use and the other to connect to the usb port on your computer to sync the iPod. You can sync and charge at the same time.
Alternatively, you could explore the possibility of installing a high speed card to your computer such as this one.
    http://www.coolcomputertoys.com/usbpcihost/
I'm not saying that is the one you need (I know nothing at all about your particular computer), I'm just using this as an example of what I mean.
