IPod Nano Resets during shuffle

I have my songs shuffling and as it ends the song sometimes it will reset and I will see the Apple logo screen and when I turn it back on i have to start the shuffle all over. I was wondering why it keeps doing that. Usually it occurs when I've been listening to around half the songs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have activated the "repeat one" options. Check the manual of your nano (because I am not sure of the model) to find the procedure to de-activate.

  • Ipod nano hums during car playback

My ipod nano hums during playback in my car. In addition the volume is so low that even with the ipod level at full blast I still have to turn my car system way up to hear the nano at a reasonable listening level. I have tried two different adaptors and that hasn't helped. It works fine when I connect it to my sound system at home.

First thing to check is the Shuffle function of the iPod. Shuffle should be set to OFF to work with the Alpine correctly and when you updated the firmware it may have reset the iPod to default to turning the Shuffle feature ON.

  • IPod Nano. I Shuffle songs then resets by its self

I put my iPod nano to shuffle then i skip a song and then it resets by its self.

It may not solve the problem, but just turn shuffle off when you're listening to your music so that you can hear it, at least.

  • Ipod nano resets when I click on music, and exit podcasts.

As the subject say's, on my 4GB black, ipod nano when I click on the music tab it resets, bringing up the apple logo and goes back to the main menu. Same thing happens when I exit the podcasts menu, I can listen to a podcast but when I exit podcasts and go back to the main menu it resets bringing up the apple logo again and going back to the main menu. I can do every thing else view Photos go into the Extras tab, Settings and even Shuffle Songs which play fine. I can enter and exit these with no problems. When I plug it in to my computer it's fine even in itunes it's fine I can play anything and do anything. I did a restore of the software already and it fixed nothing, I’m all out of ideas.
    Please help thanks.

    4GB ipod nano Windows XP

I think I figured it out. Podcasts are the culprit, if you set up you your iPod nano to automatically update podcasts and it downloads them on to the iPod, it causes an error in the iPods software, causing it to restart when you click on music or leave the podcast menus. So I changed the settings to manually update podcasts. Putting my podcasts manually onto the iPod, they show up in the Podcasts playlist under my iPod nano menu (which shows automatically) in iTunes. This is when the error starts, when I undock my iPod nano and go to music sure-enough it restarts, I plugged it back into my computer and deleted the podcasts, undocked it and it was working fine. I converted the podcasts to AAC and then put them on the iPod. They did not show in the Podcasts playlist, they just show as normal songs, and when I undock it it works fine. Now I know that they don’t have to go into that playlist and that I can create my own smart-playlist. But it should not do something like this. I’ll make a new thread about this problem.
Thank you all for the help.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Gen Shuffle question...

Hi, ive just purchased an ipod nano 7th gen, when i use the shuffle function and turn the ipod on the playlist starts back at the begining (i.e 1 of 400) not where i turned it off at (say 30 of 400).
is there any way to correct this so i can get all the way through a shuffle playlist?
    thanks, Rob.

    Hi Raynlis,
It sounds like a frustrating situation with your iPod nano not allowing you to play in shuffle mode. You have already done some of the troubleshooting I was going to suggest - resetting the iPod. The next step would be to do a restore of the iPod. See this article -

  • IPod nano 6th gen. shuffle problem

    Hi Everyone,
I just bought a iPod nano 6th generation but I have a problem with the shuffle function. When I select a playlist and choose "shuffle" it shuffles ALL the songs i have on my iPod, not just the playlist I selected... I would like to shuffle just the songs in one playlist.
    How to solve this?
    Thanks!
    Nanneke

you just have to enter the playlist. select a song, press on the center of the screen, change page(going on the right side) and then choose shuffle(pressing on the symbol!) that's the way for shuffling your playlist!

  • IPod Nano resets for no reason

    I have an 8gb 3gen Nano.
Until about 5 days ago I had encountered no problems. In the last 5 days though the iPod has taken to randomly reseting. I have tried resetting, restoring and reinstalling both the iPod and iTunes.
When connected to my pc, it starts iTunes, syncs and then disconnects automatically, generally after this it restents (and I have to select my language again). Some songs (specifically purchased songs) won't play from 'Cover Flow' trying causes the iPod to reset, however the same songs will play ok if they are contained within a playlist.
    Any suggestions?

It might be a litle more complicated as I discovered it's not a hardware bug, but something that afects a lot of iPod Touch around. Here is another thread in this forum:

Best regards, and cry for HELP to Apple. C'mon, this is WAY behond expensive device to have this stupid bug. Apple should solve this NOW.

  • IPod nano resets when scroll wheel touched or button is pressed

Recently my friend lost my iPod and gave me hers as a replacement. It's a 3rd gen 8 gig iPod nano. It was working fine with her music on it, but when I went to update it on my computer I had to reformat it for windows (my friend uses a mac I guess), and since then it boots only to the language select screen and resets whenever any button is pressed or the scroll wheel is moved. Even if the iPod is connected to my computer (computer doesn't have any problems recognizing the device) it does this whenever I touch any control on the iPod. It resets, goes to the apple logo boot screen, and goes to the language select screen again (repeat). If I don't touch it it stays at the language select screen or goes to the "connected" screen eventually if it's still connected, so it's not resetting spontaneously or anything.
I've restored the iPod several times and it hasn't solved the problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    lol, no answers eh
I'm really puzzled. I've put it in disk mode and drained the batteries completely...charged it completely...restored it on two different computers...I guess I'll take it to an apple store?

  • 2G iPod nano "resets" when viewing photos

I have been loading my daughter's new 8GB nano with music and pictures to give it to her for Christmas. The nano has "reset" twice while showing pictures: The screen goes to the black Apple screen for a moment and then goes to the main menu. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know what causes it? I haven't had any trouble when listening to music ... yet.

Also since this iPod is new it will have already be
    uptodate on the new software.
That's not necessarily true. Some iPods in some retailer purchased today may still be on the original iPod firmware update. Depends on how fast that retailer is moving product and reshelving. Also, just like you choose not to update your firmware, this poster may be the same way. A double edged sword. Although some people are complaining about issues or problems arising after an update I don't think it's something that the majority of users are experiencing. Also, consider the people that had problems actually go away after updating their firmware (like myself). Since Apple reccomends repeatedly on their support pages to have the latest "up-to-date" firmware on your iPod it's probably the best thing to do in the long run.

  • IPod nano resetting constantly

I have a first gen black iPod nano, bought it the week it was announced. Anyways, haven't had many problems with it. Recently my iPod restarted on me as I was using it in my car (Belkin Tunecast II and the Belkin cigarette lighter charger). I went to go play some music, but it restarts if I go to any menu options that contain music (Music, Podcasts, Playlists, etc.). It doesn't reset if I go to any other menus though. I haven't been using it because I haven't been able to get it to work. I've reset it manually and that didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • IPod Nano resets every time I select Music

My iPod Nano is rebooting every time I pick the Music menu. All other menus work and if I press the right arrow key from the main menu it will play music but I can't select the music menu.
I tried resetting. I guess the next step is to erase but I'd like to avoid all that.

just try a restore, u have the music in itunes so it is safe.

  • IPod Nano 7 wont shuffle through playlist

The playlists that I created will no longer play through the entire list. I select play on a list, and the first song keeps repeating. What am I doing wrong?

    Hey NancyL62,
It sounds like we may have accidentally enabled the repeat option for the song you are currently on. To turn off the repeat feature, you'll need to tap the screen when you are on "Now Playing". This will show a secondary row of buttons, be sure to tap to turn off the repeat (left-most button):

  • IPod nano issue with shuffle function--includes unchecked songs

When I use "shuffle" on my Nano, it is including songs that I have deselected from my music library in iTunes (i.e. songs I don't want loaded to my Nano).
Anyone know why this is happening? I thought unchecked songs weren't transferred to the device, yet I can play them on it?
Is this a glitch or known error?
Thanks for any help you can provide....

    Check the following:
    - Is the iPod full?
    - Is the iPod set to update automatically?
    - Is the iPods update behavior restricted to a certain number of playlists?
    - Rightclick the iPod in the sourcelist, hit update.
    - If nothing else works, try reformatting the iPod with the latest Updater
