Ipod nano running app crash

I use an ipod nano 7th generation for running, mainly. Recently, the Nike+ app crashes with a full reboot of the ipod. The run is not saved and not transferred to Nike+ webpage.
The crash happens typically right after an announcement of a completed kilometer. I have set my ipod to metric and run in the "distance" mode. I use a bluetooth heart rate monitor and I did not connect Nike+ sport kit.
Restoring to factory settings did not help.
Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem. And I'm on my second 7th generation nano (both nano's have had the issue). I also get the crash shortly after, or during, the feedback voice giving me an update. I've restored to factory default and am going to do my next run without spoken feedback to see if that helps.

  • IPod and Video apps crashing on iOS5 devices when using Home Sharing

I turn on the Home Sharing in iTunes 10.5. (on a iMac running Lion) open the iPod app on iPhone4 or/and iPad2 (both running iOS5) acces the Home Sharing library - and then 2 seconds later the app crashes.
Well I've tried a Reset to Factory Settings, install iOS as a new device, turned off firewall, reset wifi-rooter and modem, deleted itunes username/passw - typed it back in again... well still no Home Sharing here...
    Anyone with some goor suggestions?
    Please..?
All the best from Denmark :-)

Same here... Music app crashes 2-3 seconds after trying to connect to the Home Sharing library on both the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (both iOS 5.0.1). I've checked everything... settings on both devices, settings on iMac, router, open ports, firewall... all fine.
The same iPad 2 when on iOS 4.3.3 works just fine, same was ok for iPhone 4 on 4.3.3.
Any thoughts / ideas / solutions anyone?

  • My ipod Nano 6th gen crashes everytime

    Hi,
My ipod Nano 6th gen has big problem: it crashes everytime:
When i do not use it for something like more than 2/3 hours, my Ipod crashes when I decide to get him back from the sleep mode.
On the same way, it seems buguy/crashes when i connect him to Itunes (sometimes).
Everytime it crashes, it is absolutely impossible to relaunch it. Everything I get is a message asking me to restore with itunes.
I already tried to re-install the firmware (restore); but when the installation is done it shows, again, a "restore message"...
+ I noticed that when I have this "restore message", I just have to let the Ipod off (or sleep) for 3/4 hours and then it can lauch properly.
Any idea about what could be the problem on my device? Thanks for the help and please excuse me for my poor english, which is not my mother tongue !
    Good evening !

I have the same problem and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I rebuilt my iTunes library and still my 6G nano crahes whenever I load an AAC tune onto it.  MP3s and podcasts all work fine, it's just the AACs...
Just *loading* an AAC song will cause the Nano 6G to reboot as soon as it disconnects from Itunes. It will then reboot a few times and then go into recovery mode. :-(

  • Ipod nano running out of juice when not in use???

My ipod nano keeps turning up "dead" after sitting with the power turned off for a day or two. Is that normal or is there something wrong with it. I've tested it by leaving the headphones plugged in and pressing/holding the pause/play button to turn it off. I then leave it sitting. After a day or two I keep coming back only to find it "dead". What's the scoop? Thanks for your help in advance.

That's normal if it is not plugged into the charger, but if it is plugged into its charger, then that probably isn't good if its going dead while its plugged in

  • My iPod Nano 6th Gen, Crashes whilst performing "Convert Higher Bit Rate to 128 AAC" in iTunes.

    Hi Guys,
    I have a 6 week old iPod Nano 16Gb.
I have about 2500 songs, which would be coming up to 18Gb, so instead of selecting which albums I want, I've taken the lazy approach and ticked the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 AAC".
As you all know, it does the coversion on the fly, roughly about 8 sec on average per song. Being a slow Core Duo T2500, it takes its time and I have to leave it over night whilst it does it.
Come back in the morning and the watch had the 'White Screen of Death', displaying on the screen like the Apple IIe days of "OK to disconnect"
Then it goes blank and then it says iTunes (picture of a plug), under that, connect to restore.
Plug it into iTunes and it does a full restore with nothing in it.
I hope I explained it ok.
Im kinda think its not the Nano, as I've filled it up with music and photos to its capacity and works fine.
Would it be something to do with "Enable disk use", to stop it from connecting and disconnecting after syncing?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks Guys.

  • Ipod nano running with Vista

Anyone heard of Ipod/itunes crashing Vista. Have upgraded to Vista, running Raid 1 (mirror 2 HDs). Each time we plug in our brand new nano and try and do the updates, etc. it has crashed one hard drive. Not sure if the HD itself is bad or if it just broke the Raid. Let me know what a solution could be. Now scared to plug the nano back in for fear of this happening again.

I've got a RAID 0 configuration, and have suffered data loss whenever I connect my ipod.
Let's hope Apple find a solution soon. It's shocking that they dont report this as a known issue.

  • 4G iPod Touch - All Apps crashing after multiple restores overtime

I don't know what to do anymore - I don't even care that my 32 GB iPod touch works like an old school mini iPod anymore. I just want my music and kindle apps to work. Just two apps. Everything is always crashing. Forget about browsing any information on Safari or using any kind of social media app. I can't even do Google Maps - ha! Basically, I've restored multiple times over the last couple of months now. I have researched high and low and don't know what to do anymore.
For one, this is annoying because not only do I have to back up my photos, I have to put all my music back on again and the information in some apps does not transfer. A fresh restore is not fun. Restoring from backup doesn't seem to help either.
And yes, I am on iOS6 and I strongly believe it has to do with this. Ever since this update all has let loose. And the touch users got shafted.
Do any of you deal with this?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (not from backup) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • My iPod Touch AppStore Apps Crash. How do I fix it?

I have a 5th Gen iPod Touch, and my sister has a 2nd Gen, mine and hers somehow started crashing apps as soon as we launched them. Well I restored hers and i fixed it. Yet I did the same to mine and updated it to the 5.1, yet it still didn't work. The apps that came with it, such as music, settings, etc. work. But any from the AppStore don't! How can I fix this problem?

Try restoring via iTunes. If necessary. try placing the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single ClickFor MAC or PC

  • IPod nano runs through songs too fast to hear them

    Hello!
I'm useless with anything technical so I would be very greatful if anyone can advise me on this or has experienced a similar thing. Thank you very much, Clare
    nano   Windows XP

Try resetting the iPod by toggling Hold on and off, then holding Menu and Select for 6-10 seconds, until Apple logo shows up on the screen.
If that doesn't work, try updating the software, if it isn't already. (New software was released 3-23)
A last resort is Restoring the iPod through the iPod updater. This will wipe your iPod's memory, so you'll ahve to re-put all of the songs onto it through iTunes.
    I hope this helps!

  • When I sync my ipod nano my pc crashes

I've just formatted my pc, and i've noticed to have a problem with my nano. When I sync it, my pc crashes, it seems frozen. When it happens the only thing I can do is to push the reboot button on the pc case.
In the past, I already noticed this kind of error, but when I formatted my pc, all was working well, but now for other reasons I formatted my pc again and I have this error again. What's the problem??? Can someone help me???

I have come across the same problem and have looked around and it seems as if the Nano 3rd Gen is crashing computers. My macbook works fine with my itouch and classic, but as soon as I plug in my Nano the grey screen of death appears.

  • Stop iPod remote running apps on my MacBook Air

I have an AppleTV that came with an iPod type remote control. Works fine.
But if my Air is in the room then the remote connects with that too (starts and stops iTunes, starts movies etc when I want to use the AppleTV.
The AppleTV has settings for pairing a particular remote (anticipating this problem with other remotes) but I don't see anything on the Air to choose to pair/not pair. How can I unpair my AppleTV remote from the Air?

    Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES/SECURITY
and click to disable the remote control....

Some hates, some doesn't care. If you don't like it, exchange it. I had a minor tilt, and got it exchanged.
Despite of the tilt I really loved it, great design and functionality, both music, videos and pictures. The screen is so beautiful - 214 pixels pr. inch! Beautiful! I was so sorry I had to send it back, but I really wanted it to be perfect for that much money. And when I first had seen it, I couldn't get my eyes of the tilt.
I've never had a iPod before, though I've desired to get one. I think you pretty easy will be able to use the iPod, iTunes guides you pretty much through, or you can see the feature guide on the AppleSite.
I think it is a pity that the CoverFlow isn't fully functional, but I have no problem with waiting for a software fix.
Just make sure there about the tilt (it tils 1 degree or more counter-clockwise) and that the buttons and sensitivity is working with you (some had problems with loose buttons or extremely-high sensitivity)

  • VERY unstable iPod Nano (crashes every time in iTunes) plz help!

    Hi Folks,
As I wrote earlier in this thread, the iPod nano I bought for my GF (and the one before that) suffered from the 'updater bug'. At least I know now how to revive it, thanks to the great tips of a few users here, but it's a nuisance that the nano(s) tend to crash every time I want to add some music to it via iTunes. Not to say it's absurd for a mp3 player in this category to have so many bugs apparently.
I looked up the computer's system log, and it appears it registers a 'disk' warning, logged as 'event 51' every time the iPod is connected to my notebook. If it's not connected, it never gives such a warning. When you click on the warning it states: "fault discovered on appliance \Device\Harddisk1\D during a file exchange operation". [NB: my OS is in Dutch, so I translated it as best I could, it may not be the exact text it'd be in English.]
What usually happens is that the iPod 'freezes' at the moment I manually add songs to it. Subsequently I get the familiar "use iTunes to reset your iPod" message on the nano's screen, and I have to go through the whole formatting/reset procedure again, as described in the other thread I mentioned above. I had some succes adding music with the 'auto sinc' option, but nevertheless, it crashed again when I wanted to update the music on the nano, still using the 'auto sinc'.
So every which way I want to add music, the iPod crashes! Only after a full format/restore operation it sometimes accepts music, but as soon as I want to add/update the music on the iPod nano again it crashes...
As said, this behaviour is very annoying as well as time consuming, and I'm on the verge of returning the iPod to ask my money back. But as it's a gift, I'd rather see it working like it's supposed to work.
Many thanks in advance for your help, it'd be most welcome!
    Some facts and figures:
    - The nano is updated to V 1.2 using updater 2006-06-28 -

    - I did try connecting the nano to different USB ports (3) with no notable difference.

It looks as if you have some very old hardware drivers installed - audio and video ones from 2004 even? - not to mention most likely a lot of junk in the Registry. I'd suggest you try the following:
NOTE: If your antivirus or antispyware software is out of date, upgrade or update it first, and make sure no malware is getting in your way. I can't tell from your list if any is installed.
    1) Delete your current versions of iTunes and QuickTime (if installed) completely.
    2) Download some basic cleanup software - Glary Utilities is good, and the free version is plenty - and run the basic utility set. That will get rid of some unneeded files and clean up the Registry. Make sure to let it delete temp files also. THEN SHUT DOWN your computer completely.
    3) Restart after about a minute, and, as suggested, install Service Pack 3 for WIndows XP. If you're not running Automatic Updates, you should be! But if you have to, go to the Microsoft Updates page, and do a manual update, make sure you install ALL critical updates/patches/security updates, etc., and any optional updates related to hardware and/or audio and video. If any update seems unrelated, or if you don't really know what it does, skip it for now.
    4) Go to Dell's website, and in the support section, choose Drivers and Downloads, then choose the Service Tag option. The resulting page will show a list of available driver updates. Before installing each one, check the Device Manager to make sure you don't install an older driver over a newer one AND that you're installing the correct driver for your device.
    5) For all of these steps, restart when prompted - don't choose to Restart Later. If anything goes wrong, it's a lot easier to go back 1 step to a recent good configuration than figure out which of multiple installs caused the problem.
    6) After everything is up to date, install the latest version of iTunes, then try your Nano again.
It's not just the Nano - newer software and hardware will often fail or cause crashes or freezes if you don't keep your OS, applications, and drivers up to date.
Good luck, and have a great holiday season.
