  • My ipod nano 6th generation will only play one song

Whenever I hit the next button it will go to a new screen as if it will play the next song, then quickly flash through all 37 of the songs, and eventually end back up at the first song. I have tried restoring and it is updated. Don't know what else to do. It is extremely frustrating.

    Hey s.mccarter2010,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you have tried a lot of things and the iPod still will not turn on. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iPod won't turn on
If you have tried the solutions above and iPod still won't turn on, check the following:
Make sure iPod is the only device in your FireWire or USB chain. Disconnect everything but the mouse, keyboard, and your iPod, then see if it will turn on.
Make sure you are using the FireWire or USB cable that came with your iPod, and that the cable is in good condition.
Try connecting iPod to the built-in port of a different computer to see if that works. Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged in to a power source and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed the computer may go into either standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPod will not charge properly.
If you still can't turn iPod on after performing these steps, it may need to be repaired. You can arrange for repair at the iPod Service Website.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My music app shows it's still playing a song but it's playing next song without finishing the last song.

Since I had my iPhone 5S (I now have a 6 plus), I've had a problem with my iPhone Music app showing that it's playing certain songs but towards the end, it jumps to the next track, but without finishing the one it was playing. The music bar doesn't change - it shows as if it was still playing the former song. It happens randomly with certain songs and it appears all my playlists have been affected by this. I've restored the phone and restored both an iCloud backup (to rule out software issues that iTunes is copying over into the phone) and an iTunes restore from backup. I've also deleted entire albums and redownloaded them right onto the phone, hitting the exact same snag. I've also restored the phone and started it as a new install and hit the exact same snag. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK. Since no one replied I restored my Nano 2. It still does this. Can anyone say theirs doesn't? Stop the music halfway or anyplace inside a track. Let the iPod rest for a few hours. Hit Play again. You see the song you were on and the place where you were. It is in Pause mode. Hit Play again to continue the song. At this point mine skips to the beginning of the next track. If I left click the wheel, it skips over the previous to the one before that.
This does not happen with my 80G Video iPod. It holds it's place and the music continues.

  • Songs cut off then play next song

When I play a series of songs they play about 90% of a song and then start to play the next song.

I am having the same problem. This may be the same problem identified in an earlier posting by "The Dark Man" (posted 12/30/05,7:53 am); and perhaps also in "Chad Koenig" (last posted 12/30/05, 11:41 AM). On mine, it is a matter of the iPod displaying an incorrect song length.
Like "The Dark Man," I would also like to find solution.

  • Nano 6G: When I play next song, an extremely loud sound will play for 0.3 sec.

I am extremely annoyned to the fact that when I play music on my iPod Nano 6G (The small one with touch feature), I will play next song by double clicking sleep button then suddenly an an EXTREMELY LOUD DEADLY SOUND will play as if the iPod wants to kill my eardrums. This happens in 1:500 ratio I guess. Did anyone experience this before? I tried playing the song with iTunes, Media Player and other players then I click NEXT to try if it happens but not.

Oh sorry - just answered my own question - somehow the songs were marked "Skip on shuffle" (went to "Get Info" for all songs, under Options....not sure how they got marked that way, but the issue seems to be resolved on both Mac and iPhone....

    Hello HoopsMD,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the display on your iPod nano (7th generation) is not responding to your touch as you would expect. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article and working through the steps within to help resolve this issue.
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting - Apple Support
    Display
Follow these steps if your iPod doesn't respond to your input or has a display-related issue.
Screen is unresponsive and displays Apple logo or white screen
Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button until you see the Apple logo appear. If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes.
If the Apple logo does not appear, or if the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect it to iTunes and try to restore.
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

After updating to iOS 6.1.5 on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, some of my songs are skipping to the next song after 30 seconds even though the iPod appears to be playing the current song. Some of my songs are mp3 files that have been playing fine for years...
    Anybody else experiencing this issue?
I'm using the latest version of iTunes and i don't have that problem on my PC. The only difference as far as i can tell is the updated iOS & firmware...
    AJ

Yes, other have. If the songs play OK in iTunes on the computer
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipodmy ipod shuffle 4th gen does not play whole songs, only parts then goes on to next song

My recently bought ipod shuffle 4th gen does not play whole songs synced to it, only the beginning then goes on to the next song.  What have I done wrong?

I changed the iPod to Disk mode and it just blinks orange while it is connected to the PC. It says that it is synched on the PC screen but I thought the blinking orange light means that it isn't. I took it back out of disk mode. The original problem still exists...when I turn it on, the green light stays lit for 5 seconds then there's no light at all....when I press play the lights alternate orange and green indicating no music is loaded which is wrong since it shows all my songs that are loaded when it is connected to my PC. What a mess.

  • My IPod will not automatically advance to the next song.

IPod will not automatically advance to the next song. I have updated and restored. The Shuffle has the two arrows crossing which I believe means it should be advancing. Any suggestions?

While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat (the right hand side features the Shuffle feature). You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't, tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.
    Any luck there?

  • 5G 60GB Video skips rapidly through playlist before playing any songs?

I just noticed this after the latest update...occurs when I have "shuffle songs" setting in use and hit play for my playlist. The 'pod quickly skips through many songs starting with number 1, and goes up in sequence for awhile before finally landing on a song and beginning playback. It skips through about 2 or 3 songs per second (as the song info is visible on the display), and with the most recent occurrence, it made it up to song number 20 in the shuffle mode before playing a song. Anyone else experiencing such an event with their iPod? I'm getting ready to reset my iPod tonight in the hopes of preventing further incidents.

Yep, I've tried the first of the Rs tonight, so hopefully I shall not need to proceed with the others. Thanks. I'm curious to find out if this is a commonly experienced glitch, or simply a random thing.

  • TS3274 My iPad plays a song and then stops; I press manually for next song, but it either plays same song, a different song that I pressed, or will play the next song, but keeps stopping after every song I play.  Help?

When I go to play songs the iTunes will play a song then stops (repeat all or one song is not on and also shuffle is not on); I manually click for next song an it wll ( play the next song and stops, it will play same song and then stops, or it will play a song randomly and then stops) .  Help!

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

Restoring the iPod will do nothing to his iPhone.
When you restore it wipes the iPod clean no matter what computer you use.
The only plus to doing it form your home computer is if you have a backup stored there, then you can restore from the backup once it's done wiping.
If you are away form your home computer, go ahead and use the computer you have to restore it, then when you get home, you can restore form any backup you may find. You can use this to help you do that when you get there: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
