Ipod Nano Syncing with itunes issue

I have 3 user accounts on one computer. 2 of users recently purchased songs and these have been shared with each other so they show and play on their individual itunes.  Problem is the purchased songs of user1 will not sync with user2 ipod and vice versa?

  • HELP!!!! Ipod nano synced with itunes but all purchased music do not play

    HELP, PLEASE HELP!!!
I have two iPod nano's and both have the same issue. I can sync all of my music, single song whatever I like without any problems, however any music which I have purchased from Itures just skips on the nano when played back?
I have done all of the other hints listed, including De-authorizing the PC, reset nano, restored the nano, exported libary/imported libary... you name it... still the misic I've paid for does not work
I have just upgrade to iTunes 7, which all reports everything to be at the latest versions but still nothing works!
Maybe a Sony or other MP3 player would have been the beter optoin for my kids at christmas after all!
    Please help!!

The ipod is not a backup device.  the music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
You need to copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • 2nd Gen Ipod will sync with itunes but will not download new song

My Ipod will sync with itunes but will not download newly purchased songs.  It is Ipod nano 2nd gen.

If you want to use automatic syncing, you may need to set up or update the iPod's Music sync settings in iTunes.  If the new songs are not included in what gets synced to the iPod, they will not sync.
If the sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Select it there, to show its Summary screen to the right.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music, if not already checked. This is the "switch" to enable automatic syncing for songs.
NOTE:  If Sync Music is not already checked, that means the iPod is currently set to Manually manage music.  Setting up automatic syncing will replace the iPod existing content.  If you want to add the new songs manually to the iPod (instead of using automatic syncing), please post back.
If your iTunes library fits on the iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod from the lists.
One convenient way to set this up is to first create one or more playlists in your iTunes library, with ALL of the songs you want on the iPod.  Or you can use existing playlists.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs the songs in your selection(s) to the iPod (replacing its existing content).  Going forward, to update the iPod, you can just update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  If you have new songs, add them to a playlist that is synced to the iPod.  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates your iPod with the same changes.

  • I cannot get my ipod to sync with iTune.

I cannot get my ipod to sync with iTune.

    Hello megansmummy,
I would be concerned too if my iPod wasn't able to complete the syncing processes. I recommend following the steps in this tutorial to address and issue like this:

  • Is a 1st generation iPod nano compatibale with iTunes 12?

I have a 1st gen iPod Nano (lucky me, but I like it).  After downloading iTunes 12 the iPod will not sync with iTunes.  Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.  That did not work.  Called Apple and they said the iPod may not be compatible with iTunes 12.  So they were no help at all.  You would think they would know the answer.  Tried going back to an earlier version of iTunes but it will not play my library since it was created with a newer version.  So it sounds like I'm pretty much screwed unless I buy a new iPod.  Anyone have any suggestion.

Glad you were able to sort it out - iPod cables and USB ports can sometimes by mysterious in their variability - though in your case the symptoms suggest that a conductor may have failed inside the cable you were using.  I've found that, using a selection of cables:
my 2G nano will occasionally be detected as being connected via USB 1.0 (even when connected to 2.0 ports)
my 3G nano syncs fine but steadfastly refuses to charge when connected to any of the USB ports on my main computer, though using the same cable charges happily when connected to a USB AC adapter
Such things are just sent to annoy us
On your other question, it is possible to completely replicate your library across two or more PCs.  As long as the iTunes database (iTunes Library.itl) is duplicated as well as all your media you then have two physical copies of one logical library, with which iDevices will sync on either computer.  See turingtest2's notes on  Make a split library portable to see how to verify that your library is in a consistent structure to make replication easier, and Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy on one method for replication (typically using an external hard drive that also serves as a regular backup).  My configuration looks like this:
where the library on my "master" system is replicated, using MS SyncToy and an external HDD, to two other systems - a secondary one at home and one in my office at work.  My iDevices will sync to any of these without the "threat" of wiping their content because iTunes detects that they've been previously synced to a different library - because of the replication method used the "unique" library identifier that iTunes uses in the sync process is actually the same on all three systems.

  • IPod not syncing with iTunes

Okay, I checked the other topics here but I don't see anything that quite matches my issue. I recently (like many others) updated to iTunes 9 (I'm using Windows Vista), and now my 5th Gen 30gb video iPod won't sync. I'm not getting any error messages, it's just... not doing anything. I click on 'sync', and the button fades like it usually does when it starts to sync, but it only does that for literally a second and then it just stops and goes back to normal. Nothing updates, nothing happens. It's still charging, and it's recognizing that it's connected, it just WILL NOT SYNC.
It's making me really sad. Anyone else having this issue? What should I do?

I hoped the updates to iTune 9 (iTunes 9.0.1) would resolve my issue but it has not. My 120GB iPod Classic does indeed sync with iTunes perfectly with one exception. Like OldWhiskers, my Smart Playlists of video podcasts will not sync with my iPod. The playlists work fine on my White 17" iMac (running Mac OS X 10.5.8... so it's not a Snow Leopard thing), but after syncing my iPod, the podcasts don't show up on the playlist under my iPod in iTunes or when I disconnect and look at them directly on the iPod. When look at the iPod, the smart playlists in question do not show up at all, but in iTunes under my iPod it says they're on the iPod, but there are no podcasts in those playlists. And it's not the podcasts that aren't syncing. They're on the iPod under podcasts, but just don't show up in the smart playlist on my iPod or under iPod in iTunes. So until this is resolved I'm just watching my podcasts smart playlist on my Mac and not even bothering syncing the podcasts to my iPod. I would have to constantly navigate to the next podcast every time one finished. Very annoying. Smart playlists have me spoiled and are the reason I bought an iPod and use iTunes over Zune and other alternatives... so fix it, cause that HD Zune would look nice docked to my HDTV.

  • IPod cannot sync with iTunes

Hello everyone. I have a small problem with my brothers iPod. It cannot sync with iTunes, but mine can sync perfectly. We have the same iPod (Nano, 2GB) but his is black, and mine is white. When the iPod is plugged in, iTunes freezes for a minute or two and then keeps going. When songs are being updates, it freezes, and sometimes says that the source cannot by written to or read from, Any help?

Oh and note that sometimes iTunes thinks its a White iPod but really is Black.
    Help!
Note: i did read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267 and it did not help.

  • Please help! I can't get my iPod to sync with iTunes on my PC?

This problem is really frustrating and I would really appreciate some guidance because I'm completely stuck. I have been trying for many hours over the past few days to get my iPod touch to sync with iTunes on my PC. When I plug my iPod touch into my PC, iTunes opens up and this message pops up:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
I have completely removed iTunes from my PC several times and reinstalled it several times but this message continues to pop up and its really annoying because I can't put my music onto my iPod. I have followed instructions on the apple website which were to temove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel and then restart the PC and reinstall iTunes again. I've tried this several times and it simply didn't work and the error message continues to pop up when I plug my iPod into my PC. I really need to know what is the software required so that I can use my iPod with iTunes on my PC. I can't explain how much I'd appreciate help with this. Thanks in advance.
Do I need to install software on my iPod or on my PC? :S

Two ideas, but what version of Windows? what versions of iTunes? did you manually remove what the uninstaller left behind as outlined in Apple support article?
Did you upgrade to iOS 5 or not? what version? what about your iPod Touch model?
    Backup its backup. Backup content.
USB is directly connected to a motherboard port?
Have you had to restore the iPod?
Also, many have pointed finger at Apple Mobile Service needing to be restarted first, then launch iTunes and then connect iPod.
Create a new Windows partition and use that to do a clean install and for testing. Always works.
Some security software. Microsoft Security Essentials does an excellent job, free, works.
I have not read or seen "the req'd software is not installed" mentioned by others, but could easily miss (new to iPod + iTunes myself and there were so many threads when iOS 5 came out).

  • OUR IPOD KEEPS SYNCING WITH ITUNES AND WE CAN'T SEEM TO TURN IT OFF.  WE WANT TO MANUALLY COPY SONGS FORM ITUNS PURCHASED GROUP TO THE IPOD.  I LOOKED AT ALL OF THE MENUS AND CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A SETTING TO CONTROL THIS.

OUR IPOD SHUFFLE KEEPS TRYING TO SYNC WITH ITUNES.  WE HAVE SEVERAL DEVICES ---2 IPOD SHUFFLES AND AN IPAD.  THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN WE WERE SETTING UP OUR NEW IPAD BEING ABLE TO SHARE MUSIC PURCHASED IN ITUNES WITH THE IPAD.
FOR THE POD'S WE WANT TO MANUALLY COPY PURCHASED SONGS FROM ITUNES TO OUR IPADS.  WE HAVE TRIED EVERY MENU TRYING TO TURN OFF THE SYNCING FUNCTION BUT CAN'T.  IT ONLY HAPPENS ON 1 OF OUR IPODS.
ITUNES ON MY DESK TOP SEES THE PROBLEM IPOD AND IMMEDIATELY TRIES TO SYNC AND AGAIN DOES THIS EVERY TIME YOU TRY TO COPY A SONG FROM THE DESK TOP TO THE IPOD.
WE VERIFIED THAT THE IPOD HAS THE LATEST S/W VERSION.
    ANY HELP WOLD BE APPRECIATED

It is - came over from a Droid (was a former 3G user)... forgot how smooth and seamless the iPhone experience was. The Droid was nice, and Android is interesting, but the iPhone is so much simpler and easy. I hacked the heck out of the Droid, and it's so nice to be back on a smooth, "just works" phone.
    Anyway, thanks again.
