IPod nano..  The $200 paperweight??

It's almost 1am and me and my dad have been fighting with this stupid thing since 8 this morning. 1st, my computer doesn't recognize my nano. Dad gets that problem fixed and then installs, uninstalls, and reinstalls the iPod software and iTunes probably 2 dozen times. He thought he was making good progress when about 2 hours ago the thing finally formatted and the installation completed. Restarted my computer and then tried launching iTunes. The license agreement popped up and then nothing. iTunes.exe ***** up 99% of the CPU time and nothing happens.
About 45 minutes ago my dad finished uninstalling and cleaning the registry of everything Apple/iPod and tried again. Now the license agreement pops up for about 2 seconds and iTunes exits.
My dad just went to bed mumbling something about how the thing should be called an iPOS.. i-Piece-Of-S*... hehehe
Isn't Apple always touting how easy their stuff is to use? My dad's really good with computers (He used to own his own computer/network company) but he's out of ideas with this one.
Seems there are quite a few problems with this thing.. Should I just return it and get something else???
Nano   Windows XP Pro

I have had similar problems...I have put the cd in and it takes a few minutes and recognizes the i-pod and then it says it needs to format the ipod. Then some 45-60 minutes later it says "there was an error communicating with ipod, please disconnect and reconnect. And once you disconnect you get to start all over and repeat and repeat. So this great mp3 player hasnt played a song yet and doesnt look like it will anytime soon.
I have also tried to uninstall everything, etc.
LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND OUT THE MAGIC FORMULA FOR THIS!
PS. I like how the quick install guide doesnt even mention anything about formatting.

I received a replacement iPod nano 6th generation the beginning of January.  I did have the radio app but now I don't.  How do I get it back?

Make sure your headphones are plugged all the way in. The white plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the nano.

  • I have an ipad and ipod nano. the laptop i used to load music to nano died, is there a way to load music purchased from itunes on the ipad to the nano?

my laptop died, is there a way to tranfer music purchased in ITunes from an ipad air to an ipod nano?

The only way to sync to a nano is to use an iTunes account on a computer.
When or if you get a replacement computer you can retrieve all of your purchased music (from iTunes) to sync to your nano

I purchased a tune on iTunes that shows up in my iTunes playlist on my PC but I tried many times to sync my iPod with iTunes and the new song doesn't show up in my iPod.
Any idea how to fix that?
    Thank you for your help!

    Hello there Beluga111,
It sounds like you have a newly purchased song that is not syncing to your iPod Nano, but there is no error message. I would start by restarting your computer, and resetting your iPod with this article:
    How to reset iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320
Sync the device again, and if the issue persists, I would restore the iPod Nano with this article:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Ipod Nano (the new model)

my new Ipod nano, do not work in my speaker, Í have from my old ipod, it seems like it's not fitting into a speaker??

You need one of these to connect your ipod to a docking station. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter  or use a standard 3.5 mm audio jack. Cheers!

  • My IPod Nano the first one is messing up. Can some one please help me.

My nano was working fine. Then all of sudden it would not turn on.. It said that it needed itunes. I then tryed to download itunes on the computer and it would not download... I thought itunes came with the ipod. On my sisters the itunes came with the ipod... I have also tryed to just redownload the original itunes on my NEW computer but it would not work. Please someone help me.

The iTunes store comes on newer iOS devices as a standalone app. It does not come preloaded on older devices since these older iPods do NOT have Wi-Fi capability.
What happens when you tried to download iTunes? What was the error message you were receiving?

  • My ipod nano (the new one) is not playing songs?

I uploaded songs on it and put the ear phones in my ears and it still is not working. Plesase, how do I fix that?

The earphones must be pushed very hard into the iPod. So hard, that the white part of the plug must touch the iPod in order for the external speakers to turn off. You will hear a click.
If you do a forum search, you will find this same solution. If it does not work, you will need to take your iPod to an Apple store or call the Apple iPod tech support if still under warranty or you have Apple Care.

  • I have a second gen ipod nano; The screen doesnt work but it will still make the clicking noises and it is recognised in itunes? why wont the screen work?

    HELP

It's not designed to work like this. When you sync, the iPod stores some information that basically says 'this iPod belongs to computer xyz'. Apple did this to prevent copyright issues (syncing someone else's music).
If you really want to do this, you'll have to at least tie both iTunes installations to the same account. Maybe have them sync with each other.

  • Ipod nano the screen stays white

My ipos non is turning on and working but I cannot see anything, The screen remains white. It was working firn till yestarday, then I charged it and not it's all white. Any idea what is goign on and how I can solve the problem? Many thanks

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.
