IPod nano Third Generation problems...

help, anyone!
my sister's iPod nano doesn't play the songs that are in it... I am so frustrated because we had to install iTunes on another computer just to sync the songs we wanted... and it doesn't work at all.. let me explain:
when i decide to play a song on the ipod, the upper part of the screen shows that the song is playing, but the song duration bar :
0:00 ------------------- 4:15
does not move...
most importantly, if you hear the song you are playing, it doesnt play at all...
silence, the only thing I hear...
help me please , no one helped us on our last question...

It happened to me too, so I just resest the ipod, and now everything works. Switch the hold button at the bottom on then off then hold the menu and center button at the same time until the ipod resets. You won't lose your music, and it should work correctly.

  • Ipod nano third generation: no music after sync.

I have a Ipod nano third generation upgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3. Now it shows no music music after syncing. In itunes however, it shows data on my ipod. This can't be removed, unless I restore my ipod. Syncing videos and pictures do work fine. I have a G5  OS10.4.11, itunes 9.2.1
Can anyone give me some help?

For sure.    Sorry I couldn't bring better news.
You can find some pretty cheap repair quotes from 3rd party repair companies.  It might not hurt to look into it.

  • Ipod nano 4th generation problem? :/

Hi! Ok, so this is what happened.
The other day, I was listening to my ipod (Which like I said, is a green 8GB, 4th generation ipod Nano) and the battery was dying. I went to plug it in, but the computer didn't pick it up, and it died anyway while hooked up. Now, my computer sees it as an "Unknown device" and it won't show up in itunes. It won't turn on now either. I've searched everywhere for an answer but they all say the same thing "Press and hold the menu and center buttons down". I've tried that before, it's not working. My charger isn't an apple one though (It's a black one that folds up, we bought it from walmart)...could that be the problem? I believe it's the driver, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it..so..any ideas?
    Thank you for reading.

Solved, it WAS the charger. Lol.

  • Unknown iPod Nano 7th Generation Problem

My iPod Nano is only a few months old and a few days ago I realized a huge problem. I picked it up to start listening to some music and then it turned off. The "Connect to Power" screen came on and I plug it into the charger. I left it there for a few hours and then when i went to check on it, the screen was white. I stared freaking out. I tried restarting it by hold the Home button and Sleep/wake button. It would show the apple logo, but start turning off and back on. The ipod would start heating up quickly and the screen would start blinking on and off pretty fast to the point where it is white again. I thought it was a battery issue even though I rarely used it, but I could send the iPod into disk mode and diagnostic mode. When in disk mode, the iPod would connect to iTunes for a little but after awhile it would say an error has occured. Restoring the iPod is not helping either. Please help in any way. I've tried everything I could. Thanks.

    is it the cord?
    my usb port?
    ANYTHING HEPLS!

My cousin had this same problem when she plugged in her ipod.
Luckily i was able to fix it for her.
If it doesnt show up in either iTunes or windows explorer then follow these steps
    1. Click the start menu and right click my computer, click manage in the drop menu
    2. Accept the security thing and then the computer management will appear
    3. In the right hand pane, look for disk managment and click it.
    4. In the right hand side now it should display all of your system disks, locate your iPod and click format, a dialog box will appear and check quick format and then click format.
    5. Disconnect your ipod and it should begin to restart.
But if that doesnt work, try this
    1. Get into computer management like before
    2. Go to device management in the left pane
    3. In the right pane it should show all the devices installed on your computer grouped in categories.
    4. Locate your iPod right click it and click uninstall, disconnect it and then reconnect it and let the device install.

Hmm.. Thank you for the response.
Have you tried using the iPod with another user account or computer, to help narrow down whether the problem lies with the computer, account, or the iPod itself?
Maybe try reformatting it, using the tools provided by Windows. Instructions on how to reformat your iPod can be found in this article.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"

  • Ipod nano 7th generation usb problem

New iPod nano 7th generation not being recognized when USB plugged in. Not showing a new device or anything.  Have uninstalled/installed iTunes7.  USBs working with other devices including iPhone4S.  Using Windows 7 Home version with all updates.  Have rebooted several times.  No other USB devices plugged in while connecting new nano.  Tried on another machine with Windows 7 Professional with same results - not working.  Any suggestions?  What am I missing?  Any new drivers for 7th generation?  Did see OS 1.01 already available for nano, but cannot download until PC and iTunes recognize the device.  Thanks.

I figured out the problem.  Very simple, but overlooked at first.  It was the cable that came with the iPod nano.  I plugged it into an outlet using my iPhone cube charger, then connected my nano.  It would not recharge the nano.  Went to the Apple store and exchanged it for one that charged the nano while there.  When i plugged the new one into the PC it recognized the nano, opened iTunes and walked me thru the usual setup.  Synced with no problems.
    So check your cord.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
