IPod nano turns off like normal, but cuts the song?

I have a new, cute little iPod Nano, sixth generation. I love listening to it, but when it does that automatic time-out thing and goes black, it cuts my music, too. My mom's iPhone doesn't do that. Is there something I can do to stop that from happening? I love the thing to bits, but it's annoying to turn it back on five and six times a song...

Quenn,
It sounds like your headphones/earbuds aren't plugged in all the way.  Double check the connection.  You shouldn't be able to see any of the silver metal showing.

  • I lost my iPod Nano. Can I retrieve all of the songs in my itunes library, or just the ones I purchased from the store?

I lost my iPod Nano. Can I retrieve all of the songs in my iTunes library, or just the ones I bought through the iTunes store?

The "bar" at the bottom does not say anything about all of your songs being on the iPod.  It just shows you how much of its storage capacity is being used, based on what is on the iPod.
If you see "On This iPod," that means the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible.  This is easier to describe with the sidebar visible, so from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  There is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if (?) your iTunes music library fits on the iPod.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod, and new songs get synced automatically.  A 7th gen iPod nano is 16GB, so your iTunes music library would have to be less than 16GB (not counting non-music content on the iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the iPod, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the iPod.
When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the iPod's Music screen) sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).

  • Why does my ipod nano turn off and on?

why does my ipod nano turn on and off?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
Did you try everything above, including trying on another computer? If so then
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod Nano Turns off/on on its own

    hey guys.
My ipod nano works like a champ, but all of a sudden it has started turning on all on its own. It also wont charge when its hooked up to the alarm clock/dock.
    weird.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help!

Make sure the battery is charged.
When the iPod shuts itself off, try "resetting" ..
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • My iPod nano turns off by itself

i just got myself the iPod nano 6th generation and i kind of like it. I like the fact that it has the fitness part on it. But i don´t like that my iPod turns itself off when i try to count my steps! i turn it on in the morning so that i could count my steps and run and do stuff. Now i have had that problem for like a week- i have to check my pedometer every little while to make sure it is still on, because as soon as it turns off, my steps are automatically stopped.
someone, please let me know what might be wrong with the iPod? i got it by switching it (had the defected 1st generation iPod before) in January and now i have these problems
    Thanx!

you know how there are three buttons on top of the iPod- two for volume and one to make your iPod sleep or wake or turn off. if you would like to listen to music while running and so that you wouldn't touch the screen by accident, you have to push the button once. and when you want the screen to pop on again, all you have to do is press the button again. it should work so that if you turn the music on and step-counter on and then put it on "fade-mode", all your actions should stay working. and as soon as you press the button again, everything should appean on-screen.
what i was trying to say before was that my iPod turn compleately off when i would like to run or listen to music and so i lose all the data

  • New iPod Nano Turns off in the middle of any track playing - Apple Bummer

So, I just received my iPod Nano as a replacement to an early generation of iPod Nano's that are subject to recall.  The new Nano has been updated as of 21 Jan 2012.  Songs loaded into iTunes under MAC OS X Lion, iPod Nano synched with my computer, and I'm ready to go.
What - not so fast!  Guess what?  The Nano turns itself off in the middle of any track you play.  I turned the shake and shuffle mode off to make sure that is not it.  And it is fully charged.  I even went through the reset procedures.
So its less than 24 hours new/old so I go for Apple support.  My original iTunes etc accounts are associated with my house in America.  But I live in the UK right now.  So drill through Apple support and guess what?  Well, I live in London so no support is available.  And the Apple web site as usual does not provide much help in making calls.
Apple's web site says there is no coverage on this as it is out of warranty?  24 hours new?  No warranty.  It says it comes with a one year warranty. And Apple UPS'd it to me yesterday.
So question 1 is:  Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?  I hope it isn't operator head space but who knows, maybe it is.
And question 2:  Does anybody have a good 800 number for me to call in the USA?
    Many thanks.

I have the same problem and wondered if it was loosey goosey headphones which were just cheap 10 dollars buds.  So are you saying I should get new ear phones that fit tighter?
That would be my guess....Here is what Apple has to say about the problem.
       http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3700
My guess is that it is a compatibility problem with older or aftermarket ear buds.  My daughter has a 6th generation Nano and does not have this problem but keep in mind she is using the ear buds that came with the 6th Generation Nano.  With the replacement program they are not sending new ear buds.  I just did a test with my daughters 6th Generation Nano using an old set of aftermarket ear buds I had in my desk and I was able to duplicate your issue.  I then used the ear buds from my Iphone 4s and did not have an issue with the Nano going to sleep and the music turning off.

  • IPod nano turns off during playback

Lately my ipod has been switching off by itself in the middle of songs. If i then press any button, it turns on and resumes playing. Until recently, it didn't happen very often. Today it happened three times which is very unusual. I fear it may be a symptom of a bigger problem.
I have only had my iPod for a few months and have taken good care of it. I can think of nothing that I have physically done to it that would make it behave like this.
Is this a known issue and is there a solution? Thanks in advance.

My and my boyfriends IPOD 32 gig are both doing this.. i have the 1st gen nano.. they play part of the song then turn off. could it be something itunes did??

  • Turn off my iPod nano, Turn off my iPod nano

How to turn off my iPod nano without using play/pause?

That IS how you turn it off; the only other way, is to let it sit for a while, and it will turn off automatically, if it's not playing any music.

  • Turning off ipod nano, turning off ipod nano

Always find the most obvious functions conveniently left out by the Apple engineers including how to turn off the ipod Nano.
Ironically it is always resources 'outside' Apple that usually has the answers..
There is so little information available on it, and many theories including the fact that it is still a 'bug'?
    Please enlighten me.
Very disappointed at your poor user interface and repeated signing into the same user name/ account.. just to write this bit of info..

I might have had the same problem as you are having. First of all it seems that the nano takes a longer time to turn off than previous ipods. Try holding it down for a long long time. If that doesn't work then there might be a manufacturing problem with the button. When I tried to turn mine off it would go off for half a second and then turn back on. Right now I'm in the process of replacing my nano with Apple.

  • TS3474 Why does my iPod Nano turn off after one minute of use?

I just got a new 16 GB iPod Nano and it turns off after one minute of use.  Why does it do this?

I figured it out.  Headphones were not plugged all the way in.  This support community is awesome.  Thanks everyone.

  • IPod Nano turning off

    Hi
My iPod nano keeps switching off after about 40 seconds or when I click on the sleep button. I have read that it is a headphone problem and I need to plug them in further, however, when I droped the iPod the headphones socket got a slight dent in it, so the headphones no long go all the way in.
Is there a way to downgrade the firmware? If not, where should I go from here?
    Thanks

You'll need to have the headphone jack replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company. There are no other options.

  • My iPod nano 3rd gen went mad then all the songs were gone can I get them back

My iPod nano 3rd gen wiped all my music can I recover it

If it's no longer in iTunes or stored in a backup anywhere, I"m afraid you are out of luck.
For music purchased in iTunes, you can redownload it again no cost via iCloud if you live in a country where this service has gone live.  See this article for more details.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
As for music imported from outside of iTunes, you'll need to rerip those into iTunes if at all possible.
