IPod Nano + USB Power Adapter (+ Universal Dock)

Hi,
I've got an iPod Nano and a USB Power Adapter to charge it. Untill a few days ago it went fine, even with my Universal Dock between them. But since 2 days my iPod only charges when I put the Power adapter direcly into the wall plug, but with my Hi-Fi installation I'll have to use it with a multiple socket.
Does anybody know why and how to get round this?
Thanks

possibly a fuse blown in the multiple socket plug?? or even in the power adapter itself

  • 2nd gen iPod Shuffle USB power adapter

    Hi everyone,
haven't found thi info anywhere... One year and a half ago I bought the 2nd generation iPod Mini (silver pod, remember?) and its USB power adapter, which worked with every iPod at that time.
Just bought the brand new 2nd gen iPod Shuffle: will it work with my "old" USB power adapter, or have I to get the new USB power adapter (I've seen a new form factor around...)?
Thank you - Best of all

  • Old iPod USB Power adapter ok for iPhone?

    Hey folks,
Is the old-style iPod (classic) USB power adapter ok to use with the iPhone 3G? I wish I could post the picture of what it looks like ...
It's that 1.5" x 1.5", white, biscuit jack-looking plastic adapter with retractable power prongs on one end, and the female USB port on the other. Plugged my old 60GB iPod dock cable in to the USB end, and the adapter to a wall outlet and viola ... AC power / charging ...
Was wondering if I can do the same with my iPhone 3G dock cable?
    Thanks!

    Yes, that will be fine.
All of the old USB charging accessories will work for the iPhone just fine. The firewire ones, however, will not.

  • I bought a usb power adapter for my ipod nano so I can plug inti a power outlet. Will this take less time to charge my ipod or same amout of time if using the computer?

I bought a USB power adapter for my ipod nano so i can take it camping and use an outlet. Will this take less time for charging or the same amount as the computer?

    Hi, Atcandela.
I've a Macally external fire/usb enclosure that powers up and mounts directly on to my PB Aluminum 1.67 laptop but the USB portion doesn't draw power.
Do you mean it mounts and works OK when connected via FireWire, but not when connected via USB? If so, that's unsurprising. I would be surprised to hear that it doesn't mount when you use the FireWire connnection, because most drives are able to get enough power from that port.
Does MacAlly not offer a cable for your drive that allows it to draw power from both your USB ports? Some manufacturers of external drives or enclosures do offer such a cable, and it's well worth buying because it's much smaller and more portable than an AC adapter. Have a look at this one from Western Digital — it might fill the bill for you.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen does not charge on new 5W USB power adapter

    Hi,
my perfectly functional ipod shuffle 2nd gen with original dock will not charge with the new Continental Europe 5W USB power adapter, even though the specs of the power adapter include the 2nd generation shuffle. Shuffle will blink orange three times, longer than normal blinking, and then do nothing. probably nothing I can do about it, but worth a note. The US model of the new 5W adapter does not include the 2nd gen shuffle, so maybe it is an error on the apple specs page.
Maybe the 2nd gen needs more than 5W to charge?

indeed, it needs the bigger 12 Watt Adapter and the apple site is wrong.

  • Can I charge an iPod Classic 3G with the Apple USB power adapter?

I have just buy an iPod Classic 3G with 15  GB (SN JQ4239GQQQF) from ebay.
I have read that it's posible to sync it with my PC with Windows 7, but, It is not possible
    to charge it by usb.
I could charge it with the Apple USB power adapter?
    Thanks

With that particular model, only the Firewire cable and connection will provide power to the device.  The USB cable is only for syncing.

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with new nano

Hi. I have an older Apple USB Power Adapter (model A1102) that I've been using with an Ipod Mini (bought it with the mini a long time ago). I have a new 3G nano on order. Will this power adapter work with the new nano? Or will I be forced to buy a new one?
Output from the adapter is 5V - 1.0A
    Thanks

Since I also converted from a Mini to a 3G Nano, I thought I'd give you a couple of pointers; I probably spent a couple of days preparing my existing mp3 library (and that says nothing about videos).
    1) Make sure all of your mp3's are NOT marked read-only and load everything you want into the NEW iTunes
    2) Work on collecting/saving the NEW things like album covert art and lyrics (I sometimes use the lyrics area to list musicians/personnel)
    3) Re-construct your playlists and SAVE everything (iTunes actually writes back to the mp3 files--that's why you don't want them read-only)
    4) Only then start messing with videos, because they tend to crash iTunes depending on your hardware, OS, etc. (for example, iTunes doesn't work well with Vista). My best advice for videos is use a 3rd party converter (like Nero Recode) to ensure iPod format compatibility; don't even waste your time with iTunes for anything that isn't a downloaded/purchased item.

  • The USB Power Adapter of the iPod AV Connection Kit

I am a new user of iPod and thinking of buying an iPod AV Connection Kit ("Kit") so that I can view video from TV. If I am not wrong, the "Kit" includes a USB Power Adapter, which charges iPod plugged. My question is "do I have to switch off the Power Adapter if iPod is unplugged?" Or the Dock is so smart that the power will be cut if the iPod is unplugged.
The 2nd question is can I select a video and/or music inside the iPod through viewing the connected TV by using the remote included inside the said "Kit"?
    Thanks a lot

The USB Power adapter isn't a smart device - much more like a charger: The only way to switch it off, is to unplug it from the A/C outlet.
But you may leave it pluged into A/C: Nothing will happen except a small consumption of electricity.
ad 2: You may view a video through your connected TV set, but there will be nothing like a TV menu to select it - if you want this feature you have to buy a 3rd party docking station.

  • New iPod touch 5th generation charger won't work with computers or USB power adapter?

I just got this charger less than two weeks ago and just yesterday it started saying "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work on this iPod." It will only work on some occasions, but most of the time it won't. Other times it will show that it is charging, but when I select to "Trust" my computer it stops charging. When I plug it into the USB power adapter, it rarely works (even when I try it in different outlets.) Any way to solve this issue?

  • Travel Adapter and iPod USB Power Adapter

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but this is all new to me so please bear with me I just bought an iPod video, a World Travel Adapter kit and the Power Duo kit - which contains a power block wall charger, USB mini cable, and car charger. I was looking at the plugs in the travel kit and do not see how they work. The product data says that it works with the USB power adapter - which at this point I am assuming is different than the power block wall charger? Can someone verify this for me? Also, can someone then tell me how these travel adapters plug into the USB power adapter (or power block wall charger) so that they can be used when traveling overseas. I can't tell from the photo of the USB adapter how this would be done...I don't want to buy yet another power adapter if I don't need one, but I sure can't see how they work with what I have so far or how they would work with the USB power adapter..I would have thought that the travel kit would have some with everything that I need but apparently it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance.

Now I have hooked it up to a PC without itunes on it. The ipods says it is charging but when you disconnect you can see that the battery level is even lower. Does this mean that I should just take back the ipod to exchange it for a working one?
    Thanks

  • Apple iPod USB Power Adapter - ?

    Hello everybody!
I've got a problem with my new iPod mini and I hope you may help me.
After updating the new software for my iPod Apple told me to charge the battery with a Apple iPod USB Power Adapter which I don't have.
I tried to connect the iPod to my computer (Windows XP) but there's always the picture of the adapter on my iPod. I've tried to reset it, restart the computer and so on ...
But the display always shows this sign of the adapter.
I hope you can help me, I'd be very greatful.

but it's already worked with my computer, the iPod worked alright, so I don't think that I need this stuff you've just named.
The iPod will work just fine without those things.
It's the update/restore process that needs the A/C adapter.
Anyway, you don't need to listen to me if you don't want to. I won't be insulted.

  • Can't recharge using iPod USB power adapter

My 2nd gen iPod shuffle will recharge ok when plugged into the USB port of my Mac, but when I plug it into an iPod USB power adapter it won't recharge, the indicator light does not light up, and if I turn the power on the light turns to amber for a couple of seconds then goes blank.

This sounds like your iPod USB Power Adapter is malfunctioning... does it charge other iPods?

  • Will iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen work with 1st Gen USB Power Adapter?

    Hi.
I have the iPod USB Power Adapter (M9837ZM/A) and was wondering if it will also work with the iPod shuffle 2nd Gen?
Mine only lists the original shuffle (naturally) and I just realized that Apple apparently re-designed the USB Power Adapter (MB051LL/A), which does list the 2nd Gen shuffle (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=E82 45892&nplm=MB051LL/A).
Does anyone know if I can use my power adapter with my new 2nd Gen shuffle?
    Thanks!

Will I be still pleasantly surprised when my iPod is fried?
So, what you're saying is, that whatever happens, it cannot do harm to the iPod?
If that's so, i'll give it a try.

  • USB Power Adapter for use on both iPod Touch and Mini?

Will the Apple USB Power Adapter that charges the iPod Touch also charge my iPod Mini? The Mini is not listed specifically in the compatibility chart. 1st and 2nd generation iPods are listed as compatible. Would the Mini be considered one of these? Just wanted to check before ordering the charger.

It's fine.  Any adapter that is 5.0 or 5.1V DC at 0.5 to 2A (500 to 2000ma) will work.

i wanna know the model of my usb power adapter that comes with my ipod touch 2nd gen model a1288..it's already erased that's..i wanna know the output ampere and voltage..thank you

No iPod touches came with a wall charger. You would have had to purchase it separately. As I saidm one with at least 500 ma will work. 1000 ma (1 amp) sime to be standare for phones and iPods.
