IPod Nano using the new Camera Connector

I resently purchased an iPod Nano and a new Camera Connector direct from Apple. Before I did this I checked the compatability issue with both the camera and the camera connector, and with the Nano and the camera connector. All the adds at the Apple store state that the camera connector works with all ipods that have a color screen. When I connect them the screen on the ipod states "The currently attached accessory is not supported by this iPod". They advertise that you can store 25,000 photos in a Nano. Did I waste my money on a Nano and camera connector. (I already had a 4G 20GB iPod with an older Belkin Camera connector)

Yes, you may have wasted your money on the camera connector. The problem is that the camera connector has been out for a while and, at the time it was made, the only color iPods were full sized ones, and the camera worked with them. So, what they advertised was true up to the time until the Nano was released.
Now, Apple has released the Nano, which technically is a color iPod, and it dosen't work with the camera connector. The problem is that they haven't changed the advertising for other products to account for limitations of the Nano yet.

I have just bought an ipod classic, I already have an ipod nano.  The new ipod was connected to the computer to charge and it named itself with my name on the old nano, how do I get the computer to recognise the new one?

My mistake, it was nothing to do with format.  It woldn't sync because my movies were HD.  HD movies won't sync to an iopd classic 160 GB but when you purchase a HD movie, itunes gives you a SD vervsion of the movie which is compatible with the ipod.  Just needed to go to store, click movies, click purchased and untick the HD box and there you have the SD versions.  Download the SD versions and then sync your ipod and bobs you uncle, movies are on the ipod

  • Hello, can i use the new magsafe connector on a mac pro from 2008?

Hello, I have a mac pro 15' from 2008, and the connector just stop working, in fact I have 2 connectors, because I broke a mac pro brand new, and then I had to buy this one, so both connectors stop working all of a sudden, and now when I went to Apple Store, the anwwer I got was "is not possible to repair" and we don't have to deliver before 4 months. I am atonished! 4 months?? How is that possible, and they show to me in Apple online the answer and it say 4 months indeed. Now I am looking to the new magsafe connector, that was made to the new mac pro and the deliver is the next day. My question is
can I use this one on my mac pro from 2008? Because i reada few things that there were complains that the new did not work. Can i get some help one this please?

ANYWAY - What I know of the magsafe cord is s different sized port.
All magsafe plugs fit in all magsafe sockets, no exception. Your only concern is that the power output of the supply be equal to or greater than the computer into which it is plugged.

  • Can I exchange the old iPod nano for the new iPod nano?

I was wondering if I can exchange my old iPod nano for a new one even if it costs a tiny bit extra.

    Hi Deborah,
Your profile doesn't say what country you live in, but for example, if you go to the US Apple online store, you can click on the
    b Sales and Refunds
link at the bottom of the page, to find Apple's policy.
I'd suggest you dig a bit deeper into the online store site until you get to the appropriate
    b education store
    webpage, in case the
    b Sales and Refunds
links at the bottom of that page leads to a modified policy.
And even if you are past the stated
    b Refunds
period, you have nothing to lose by calling the appropriate number (eg. in the US: 1-800-676-2775) to see if you can get a Return Material Authorization, especially since you wish to order a new computer at the same time. The worst they can say is "no".
I'm assuming the iBook transaction was entirely online, but if it was instead bought through a campus bookstore to get the educational discount, the campus bookstore would then be another place to approach to see if they have different policies to the online store.
    best of luck,
    ...ben
PS. I assume you know that this is a user-to-user discussion forum, and Apple won't respond to the questions you post here? But you will certainly find empathetic, fellow Mac owners who are happy to help you if they can.

  • Does the nano use the same dock connector cord as a 3rd generation iPod?

I currently have a 3rd gen iPod (touch wheel w/ four buttons above it) and am looking to upgrade to the new iPod Nano. Will all my old accessories be compatable with the nano? - Dock connector, AC adapator, car charger etc. Thanks in advance.

I made the same switch - 3G iPod to 3G Nano, and it all works, even the dock! Of course, even though the dock connector works, the sizes of the two are difference, so anything that the 3G iPod fit perfectly in will be too big for the nano - but that has nothing to do with the connector.
A little trick you may not have though of - if you have a Firewire cable for your old iPod, you can connect the new nano to the charger that came with your 3G iPod - it won't sync, but it will charge.

  • IPod Nano with the new iTunes 7.0

I have had no problems with my iPod before. Just yesterday I upgraded to itunes 7.0. Now, my computer says I have plugged an "unknown device" into the USB port. I have tried everything I can think of. Since my computer doens't recognize the decice, itunes doesn't either. This means that I can't get new songs on to my iPod. I can't even listen to my songs I already have because my iPod is out of battery and my computer, not recognizing it, won't charge it. My younger brother has the shuffle. He is having no problems. By the way my nano is the first kind that came out and is 2gb. If you are having the same or similar problem, or just know what to do, PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks!

  • Transfering my music in ipod nano to the new Video Ipod

Does anyone know how to Transfer music from one ipod to another?

"Does anyone know how to Transfer music from one ipod to another?"
You can't. At least, not directly. If the music is no longer in your iTunes, you'll need to move it from iPod to the library and from there to the new iPod.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Copy playlist to iPod nano in the NEW version of iTunes

I have watched the video and still cannot understand how to drag and drop a playlist into my connected iPod icon
in the top right part of the window. If I try I get a RED circle which means NO GO. What am I missing?

View > Show Sidebar or Ctrl+S. Your device should be on the left like iTunes 10. Do the results change?

  • IPod Nano 5g, the video camera doesn't work.

Everytime i click on the camera the screen goes black and the ipod freezes.
What can i do to fix this problem???

Try a hard reset first.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center ) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  If still no luck, connect the Nano to your iTunes library and click the Restore button from underneath the Nano's Summary tab.
Otherwise, the issue is likely hardware related, meaning you'll need to have your iPod serviced.

Does anyone know if the new ipod nano comes with a camera?

The newest nano is the 7th generation. It does not have a camera. The 8th generation is the next one, for Apple to release whenever they want. We do not know when or what it will have.

  • How can I add the content from a iPod Nano to a new iTunes account

how can I add the content from a iPod Nano to a new iTunes account

On the computer in iTunes log into her Apple ID and then see if recent purchases are shown by clicking on her name in iTunes, entering her password and then selecting the option. If there is nothing there then she bought that music with a different Apple ID.
You can use TouchCopy to move all the songs on the iPod to the computer. Then try to play one of the purchase songs and it should show the account used to purchase it and ask for the password.
