Ipod nano video firmware

I think the current v1.0.2 firmware is in need of an update, as this has caused me no end of problems with my ipod nano video, causing it to shutdown on it's own and then require switch to disk mode, to restore. Trouble is, each time I get it back to v1.0.1 firmware, as soon as it's connected to iTunes, it recognises v1.0.2 is available and prompts me to install (whether I have auto update checked or not).
With v1.0.2 I also have a problem after I've added songs as the ipod just switches to a black screen with the apple logo and it can't be used. Not much use for a player bought as a present for someone.
So c'mon Apple, do the decent thing and provide a firmware update to fix this problem, as it seems I'm far from being the only one having problems going by the forums here.

  • MAJOR PROBLEM ABOUT VIDEOS IN IPOD NANO VIDEOS!

    i neeeed help !
i added mpegs videos to iTunes Library but when i tried updating my iPod nano video , it wouldnt and it says it has to be converted so the videocan be used for the iPod and i did but when i played the videos on the iPod nano Video there was no sound .
HOW IN TTHE WORLD DID THAT HAPPEN?
anyone has answers for me pls. ?

There is no such thing as a nano video.
There is a fifth-generation, full sized iPod capable of video, but there is no nano capable of video playback.
What ipod do you have? The fact that you say it does play video indicates that it's a fifth-gen. If that's the case, what version firmware are you running? Go to SETTINGS > ABOUT to find out.
    Cheers!

  • IPod Nano Latest Firmware Page and Download???

I would like to know where apple has their Ipod Nano (2nd Gen) firmware page so that I can keep up to date on the firmwares. I do NOT want to install iTunes under any circumstances as I do not use it, and don't ever plan on using it. I'm sticking with winamp for all of my transfering as it's much more intuitive and a much smaller foot print (i.e. more efficient code and no windows services installed like on iTunes).
    Thanks

The second generation iPod nano's firmware isn't available outside of iTunes; if you have a copy of the firmware file, you still need iTunes installed to run the actual update process on the iPod.
Apple stopped producing standalone iPod updaters when iTunes 7 was released.

  • IPod Nano Video & iChat A/V

This is a shot in the dark, but does anyone know if you can use an iPod Nano Video as a web cam for your iChat? I have not found any documentation on this but it would make sense if you could.

    Doubt it very much.

  • IPod Nano Video with Windows Movie Maker

I found this page by Apple that explains how to use video from the 5G iPod Nano, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3837
But, I cannot find Windows Movie Maker V2.5, and V2.1 with Windows XP will not import the video from the iPod Nano. Anybody have any ideas on how to solve this? (Besides buying a Mac...)
Also, Windows Media Player 11 will not play the video created with the 5G iPod Nano either.

You can use the AVS Video Editing software to import MPEG-4 Movie files in the same way you'd import .avi files into Windows Movie Maker. Also, the AVS Video Editor will allow you to import iTunes .mp4 audio files and incorporate them into your soundtrack. If you still want to use Windows Movie Maker for your video editing you can also use video conversion software from the same company, i.e. AVS Video Converter 6, to convert from MPEG-4 into .avi or .wmv format. I've found converting to .wmv to be considerably slower than converting to .avi though. Here's a link to the AVS video software offerings below. BTW, the AVS Video Editor can be used for free, while there's a charge for the Converter.
    * As always, exercise caution when using Shareware. So far my own experience has been good.

  • Itunes won't transfer short film to ipod nano (video)

Hope you can help me. I've got a new 8gb ipod nano and am using latest itunes for Windows. Vista is operating system.
I bought a short film through itunes (one of the Pixar movies). However, when I sync my ipod, it WILL NOT transfer the film to my ipod.
I notice in itunes the film was only listed in "Purchased", so I added it to Movies but no joy. When syncing, my music video will be transferred, as will my songs, but my one short film just sits in itunes and never goes anywhere. What am I not doing?

Sorted it. Itunes default setting is not to sync any movies with the ipod. Changed this setting and all OK.

  • Ipod nano video and radio????

hi, i have a ipod radio and i was wondering if you can putt a movie on it and watch it or can you putt radio stations from itunes on youre ipod?

Video is only for the iPod with video, not the nano. Radio stations from iTunes require an internet connection, so no iPod can play them. You can buy an FM tuner that attaches to your iPod and lets you play regular radio stations though.

  • Ipod Nano Video - Charging or not? Who knows?

Okay, since Apple can't wrap their heads around the idea that some of us don't want video (and don't want to PAY for it) but would still like an MP3 player with a decent storage capacity, I finally broke down and bought a Nano video.
Got it home, plugged it in, and the thing won't charge. Battery icon remained red even after being plugged into my mac all night. Screen says "connected,"
but there is ZERO indication of charging.
Took it back, exchanged it for another one, same deal. Changed connector cables, same deal. When plugged in initially the battery icon shows a lightening bolt, and then that goes away to leave an empty battery icon with a red sliver (traditionally means "low battery.")
    Any ideas, anyone?

So the Classic line doesn't meet your needs as well? Per gigabyte it is cheaper than a Nano and has lots more storage.
So anyway, perhaps it is your computer, since that is still the common component to both iPods. If you go back to the Apple store (or take it to work or a friend's house) see if it charges on another computer besides yours.

  • Ipod Nano video recorder and Windows?

Hello all, just want to say I LOVE my new Ipod (haven't had one since the first gen nano)
I was just curious, what would be the best way to open the videos in say Sony Vegas or Windows Movie maker? I tried a converter last night and the video was horribly compressed/muddy looking. Are there specific codecs I need to use?
I'm running Vista, but I also have an old iMac G3 (with an orange case) which is too slow to edit video. Any help would be great

I have a new ipod nano and can not download iTunes to Winnows Vista.
Need all the help that i can get. Thanks,

  • Ipod nano video and audio

I am thinking of getting my first apple product which would be a nano. The question I have is can use video from other sources other then from apple also can I use audio other the from apple?

You really should have posted this in the iPod Nano forum rather than the iPhone forum.
You can use video from other sources so long as they meet the specs for the type of videos the Nano will play. Specs are available at the Apple Online Store, information for how to convert videos is available at http://www.ilounge.com. If you are thinking about Limewire or similar pirate sites, please don't: their files are often flaky and many times contain viruses and malware. Please don't steal music or videos.
While at the website you can also check the music formats the iPod can play, which is extensive. One it can't play is WMA protected files.

  • IPod Nano Video Camera

My fiance just got the newest iPod Nano for his birthday. It has a video camera to record videos. He can't use the video camera because it's not on the main menu. How does he go about putting on the main menu so he can use it?

    Hello musicrl87,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Head to *Settings - > Main Menu*. Then locate the video camera menu item and click the Select (Center) button to place a check mark on it. This should make the camera available from the main menu.
