IPod Nano will not work
My daughter has had her iPod Nano 8GB for about 10 months and now it will only play when its attached to the computer. What is causing this and how can it be fixed?
I guess you've tried the obvious - power down the pc, and then power back up (my pc sometimes shuts down the USB ports for no reason). Try connecting the one that won't work first, I've also experiences one ipod disabling another from connecting. Next try resetting the ipod (toggle the hold switch, then press middle and top buttons together for about 6 seconds).

I downloaded the I pod Updater 6-28-06. when I connected my ipod nano, the updater came up and stated that my ipod needed updating, so I hit the update button. After forever, nothing happened, but my ipod no longer works and all my music was erased from it. My ipod keeps saying not to disconnect, but I tunes does not even register that the ipod is connected.
How do I fix this problem?That is a pretty good sign that the battery is shot and in need of replacement. You can have Apple replace the battery for a flat fee, sending it a third party repair company to have them swap it out for a little less, or you can even purchase a replacement battery and change it out yourself using one of the numerous guides found online.

Try:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server

3rd gen iPod Nano will not sync with latest version of iTunes on new laptop. It passes the connectivity test but not the sync test under diagnostics. Worked fine on old Windows 7 laptop but not new one. From Control Panel it shows up as an Apple iPod USB Device...
Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok. -

I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. Hello.
I have searched through the help section and through the forums, but I can not seem to crack this problem.
My inlaws told me there iPod nano would not work anymore. They simply told me that they could not get it to come on. I thought I could fix it rather easy. Turns out that it isn't that easy.
The nano will only work when I have it plugged up. It says it is fully charged. When I unplug the nano, the screen dims out for a second and then goes to gray as if it were off. I can not get it to come back on however. When it is plugged in, I can navigate through the nano as if there are no problems. As soon as it is unplugged however it acts dead.
Any suggestions? I've tried resetting. Doesn't work unless plugged in...and didn't solve the problem. I've done the five r's. No problems with the hold button...
I am lost on this one guys.I would say that it's a dud battery.

My ipod nano will not power off. Even the sleep button does not work. I have reset everal times. Any thoughts?
I've been through 4 of those R's, as well as the Quick Fix and about 5 hours on the phone with Apple. It will now turn off, but it is still not visible to iTunes and the iPod updater won't run because it also can't see the iPod. Windows sees it just fine, so now I'm awaiting a 3-5 day response from an Apple engineer about what is wrong. This all started when I installed the 6.0 update. I'm now back to the older software, but it still won't reconize my iPod, so therefore will not update it with new songs, etc.

My generation 6 IPOD Nano will not let me put songs on my playlist from the library. A message comes up saying it has to be downloaded from the cloud. I do I bypass this?
If the songs are not in your iTunes library, download them as indicated here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519. Then sync them to your iPod.

Do I have to buy Lion or snow lepoard or is there a way to updated from OS X 10.4.11?? I have a new ipod that will not work without the ne itunes, but the new itunes will not install without a newer vesion of Max OS X. Help please
Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

i was able to connect and synced songs yesterday.
but when i tried it again today. i cant connect again.

I have had problems with my iPod ever since I got it, and it has never functioned properly, even with the use of support. My iPOD simply will not work. It will not turn on, or charge. My computer will not recognize it, nor will iTunes. I took it to an Apple store for repairs, and they marked my total charge time at a whopping 6 minutes before it died. I worked temorarily after I got it back, and it hasn't turned on since. It has never been dropped or mistreated.
Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Is there any way to get it replaced without having to spend to buy a new one, since mine never really worked in the first place? If it's under warranty, send it in for service or replacement. If not, then the answer's no.
