IPOD NANO WON'T DOWNLOAD PURCHASED SONGS

I have purchased songs from itunes and when i try to put them into my IPOD i get the following message.... Some of the songs in the ITUNES music library icluding the song (songg purchased name) were not copied to the IPOD because you are not authorized to play them on this computer. PLEASE HELP. I am tired of messing with this IPOD. Got it for CHristmas and still can't use it.
Thanks,
CIndy

Pull down the 'Advanced' menu. There should be an entry that says one of two things... either 'Authorize computer...' or 'Deauthorize computer...'
If it say 'Authorize computer...' press it. I don't know what happens after you do that, but I imagine it asks you for your itunes username and password details.
If it doesn't say 'Authorize' and only says 'Deauthorize', then don't click it. If that's the case, I don't know what's wrong.

  • Ipod Nano won't play any songs downloaded from MySpace pages...

My first generation Nano was initially sent back to Apple due to the battery losing it's charge to quickly. They sent me back what appears to be a replacement Nano and now this one won't play any songs downloaded from MySpace pages of bands, shared from friends (unprotected mp3 files) or otherwise downloaded from the internet.
Whats unusual is that any songs imported from a CD to the Nano play fine as do any songs purchased from iTunes. I know Apple has stated that any files the user wishes to play on their iPods will play as long as the format is compatible. (All of these songs in question played on the original Nano and the problems started when they said they fixed it and sent it back (although it is missing the engraving which to me indicates they gave me a refurbished Nano). My Applecare runs out in mid-October so I need to figure out what is wrong. I sent it back a second time and they told me they couldn't recreate the problem so they just updated the software and sent it back.
Someone suggested that some iPods have a part of the firmware activated (which Apple may have been testing) that prevents any non-ITunes store music or music no t off an original CD to fail to play.
When attempting to play downloaded songs from sites like Purevolume and MySpace the iPod plays for a few seconds then shuts down and restarts itself, all of these songs worked fine before Apple took it in for service.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. It`s so annoying.
I did a little bit research on this discussion board and this problem seems to be known for quite a long time. It`s confusing me Apple is not able to fix that prob or give customers quick introduction to resolve the prob.
I am currently on vacation in Florida and just bought the new iPod 30 Gig. I transfered already songs from my music cd. That worked fine.
I bought 2 music video files, synced them with no error to the iPod, but it only shows me a black screen when I want to start the video on the iPod itself. itunes plays the files with no problem.
Any ideas how to fix it??

  • New iPod Touch, won't sync purchased songs from iTunes library on new "authorized" laptop.

I must have missed a step.  My old windows laptop died.  Tried syncing iTunes library from old laptop to new iPod touch.  Didn't work.  Downloaded iTunes to new windows laptop.  Logged into iTunes from new laptop and Authorized new windows laptop.  Uploaded a few CDs into new laptop's iTunes library.  Old purchased songs appeared on new laptop, however only uploaded songs from CDs will sync to new iPod touch.

  • Macbook won't download purchased songs...

I recently bought an album, ok two, on my phone and my macbook won't download anything but the booklet. What gives?
The Macbook is authorized to access my account in iTunes.
The phone is authorized on my Macbook.
I can download songs purchased on the Macbook on my phone with no problem.
    I am running iTunes 11.2.2 (3)
The macbook is running OS X v10.9.3
The phone is an iPhone 5S with latest downloads.
    I appreciate the help, folks.

Yup. Same here. I ordered 2 seasons of Daniel Tiger for my daughter around 1pm EST today and it downloaded 1 show from each season (10 episodes per season) and then said network connection has been lost. It is now 8:45pm EST and still doesn't work.

  • IPod Nano won't accept new songs

When I try to add new songs to my iPod Nano in iTunes it LOOKS like they get added. I can see them on the iPod, both at the top-level and in whatever playlist I put them in, and I can even PLAY them from the iPod in iTunes.
But once I disconnect the iPod from the PC they're gone from the iPod - they're not in Songs or in any playlist. The only sign that I did anything is that Info shows the amount free space decremented by the size of the songs. So they're taking up space on the iPod but they're not visible.
If I reconnect the iPod to iTunes it doesn't show them either (and it fixes the available space discrepancy, too).
FWIW I currently have 291MB of free space, and 314 songs on my 2GB iPod Nano, PC is Win XP.
    Thanks in advance!

    > I'm sorry that there doesnt seem to be a better
solution unless the post above applies :)
Reloading the the songs seems like reloading the whole OS on a PC just because one DLL or Registry entry is bad or replacing a car engine because of a blown head gasket.
Right now I have an Ipod with lots of songs on it that plays just fine. It just won't accept new songs. What if I dump everything to my PC, blow-everything-away, and try to reload it and it won't load ANY SONGS? I'm 4000 miles from home, so then I'm really stuck, with no tunes! From an engineering standpoint this approach just doesn't make sense to me. This is my first Apple product - are they all like this (i.e., if something acts up start over from scratch)?
When I have my iPod connectd to my PC I can see all kinds of system files in iPod_Control\Device. Aren't there any diagnostics we can run on those to simply solve the problem?

  • My iPod Nano won't update new songs onto it!

Alright, so i went to go download new music one day in the Music Store and it said that I needed to download iTunes 6.0.2 or whatever its called. So i finally got the download to work and all my old music showed up and everything was fine. Then i decided to go and buy some more music (in the iTunes Music Store). All the downloads worked and everything and they play on my iTunes but when i plug my iPod into the USB port, it says its updating my iPod, and then it says it is complete but then when i look on my iPod itself, none of the new songs are there! I have no idea how to fix any of this so if someone has any suggestions that would be great!

  • IPod Mini won't play purchased songs

My wife's iPod Mini (all software current and running iTunes 7.1.0.59) will not play songs purchased from iMusic. When a song is selected from recently purchased music the iPod rapidly scrolls thru the songs and returns to the Music folder. After the Mini is synced with the computer and ejected, the purchased songs will play for a day or so then begins scrolling thru the songs until synced to the computer again. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Restored iPod Classic won't download some songs purchased on iTunes

OK, so I just restored my iPod Classic so it could receive software updates through my new Mac Book. But now a few songs that I purchased from iTunes (all more than a year ago) will not upload to my iPod Classic. Songs that I purchased from iTunes during the past few months appear to have uploaded without a problem.

That didn't help directly, but you got me to sign on to iTunes and, to make a long story short, discover that I actually have two iTunes accounts. I think I signed up for the second one mistakenly when I activated my iPhone. All the songs that wouldn't play, were purchased under the account that wasn't yet authorized on this computer.
So now I have a new question for you. Is there any way for me to merge the two iTunes accounts?

  • New Nano, won't accept purchased songs.

Just bought my wife a new nano, I installed the iTunes 7 update. Her iPod is recognized, but it won't let me click and drag songs to transfer them into her iPod library. It shows up as recognized but won't let me transfer any songs.

  • IPod Nano Won't Sync New Songs

My 6th (or whatever the latest version is) Gen Nano is having an issue since updating the iOS.  It has only been synced to my iMac, and now it doesn't sync with iTunes (latest update).  It acts like it doesn't recognize my iMac as it's home computer.  When I go to sync music, it cannot because iTunes continually unchecks the box telling it to sync my selected playlists and songs.  It works once and will sync what I tell it to.  But when I try to do it again; it will not and has unchecked my choices and has greyed out the entire "Music" area on iTunes relating to my Nano.  And yes, I did check all the correct boxes... have done it for years so I know something is definitely wrong here.   It keeps what I've synced on the Nano, but I have to re-select and then re-sync all the playlists if I want to add a song in a playlist.   I did re-install the iOS but no good, and I did a restore, reboot, hard reboot... nothing works to make iTunes rermember how to sync my Nano.  Very frustrating... any ideas?

I am having a similar problem with my Nano 6th gen too.  I changed laptops ( H.P.) purchased several songs over the weekend but when I went to synch them to my NANO, it indicates a synching taking place ( when I connect the Nano to my laptop), the battery is charged but the music is not transferred from the laptop to the NANO. I too need some advise.
    Thanks in advance

  • I downloaded the latest version of itunes and now my ipod nano won't sync.  The sync process appears to be locked up on the 2nd song and will not continue to sync.  I unchecked the 2nd song so a different song would be 2nd, no benefit; reset my ipod nano;

I downloaded the latest version of itunes and now my ipod nano won't sync.  The sync process appears to lock up on the 2nd song and will not continue to sync. I let it run all night the first time and it never went past the 2nd song.  I unchecked the 2nd song so a different song would be 2nd, no benefit; reset my ipod nano; shut down laptop and restarted a different time; shorted the number of songs to sync; all without benefit.

When you connect your ipod up to the computer. It should show the device, usually with the name of the device, in my case 'jordan's ipod'. This should be on the row which shows 'songs', 'albums' e.t.c on the far right. There when you click on it it should go to a different screen showing a picture of your ipod along with two buttons - Update and Restore. Click update and it should take a 2 mins while your ipod is updated to the latest version of Ios.
After updating te ipod see if there is a change in results.
PS: make sure the device is active while syncing so keep tapping the screen.
Sorry for any incorrect info, i have an ipod touch, but i've had experience with an ipod

  • My iPod nano completely eliminated all 214 songs from my music, leaving just the songs I recently purchased (9).  How can I get them back?  I've tried redownloading them but it didn't work.

My iPod nano completely eliminated all 214 songs from my music, leaving only the 9 songs I last purchased.  When I try to sync, I get a message, "cannot be synced because the iPod cannot be found."

When you say "account," do you mean your iTunes library, because your iTunes library is what is on your computer?  Your iTunes library does not have an email address.  An account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID (which is an email address) and you use it as your user name to sign in to the iTunes Store, to make purchases.  Changing your Apple ID will not make songs disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you had an Apple ID and used it to make song purchases from the iTunes Store, and then started using a different Apple ID, you should be able to re-download the songs purchased with the old Apple ID.  In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store using your OLD Apple ID (and password).  That may not be your current email address, but Apple uses it as your user name, so it does not matter.
On the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  This takes you do the Purchased screen, where you can re-download previous song purchases (for that Apple ID) at no cost.
NOTE:  If those song purchases are from more than a few years ago, you may also need to authorize your computer to play (and sync) songs for your old Apple ID.
For songs that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, if they are also gone, you cannot get them back unless you have a backup (or they are still loaded on your old iPod).
If that's not what you mean by "changed the email address on my account," please post back with more details.

  • Won't let me download purchased songs (error 8517), Won't let me download purchased songs (error 8517)

There's about 25 or so songs that I have purchased but can't download. Whenever I click on Downloads, It says there are 25 songs available for download, I click to download them and they all come up with an error. Someone suggested I go to Store --> Account --> and then click download purchased songs from there, if I do that in the library it seems to act like they're all about to download but none of them do. Anyone please help?

  • IPod Nano Won't Play Songs...Stays on Menu

Hi! My husband's 2GB iPod Nano will not play any songs. It will charge and it will show the menu with Music, Photos, Extras, Settings and Shuffle Songs...yet it won't let you click on any of these. I have tried resetting it by holding the Menu and Center Buttons, and it will show the Apple logo and then go back to the menu it was on before. Any suggestions on what I can do now???
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You may have a hardware issue and need to have it serviced, but before going that route, try this. Connect your iPod and in Device Manager or My Computer, right click on your iPod, then select disk management. Format the iPod (FAT32) and while you are there, assign it a different drive letter, try M or P or Z. Now Restore it in iTunes, fully charge it, resync it, and try again.
