What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  After leaving the iPod connected to an external power source to charge for at least 30 minutes, have you tried resetting it?

And yes, you can swap the battery out yourself.

my ipod nano wont let me sync my videos on my computer

Not all video format downloaded from iTunes is compatible with ipod nano. Make sure that the file extnesion is mp4 or any quicktime formats. If not, create a version on these format using iTunes or convert using a third party software. Cheers!

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

Checking if iTunes is running in the task manager is something that may help work out what is wrong.
You open the task manager by pressing and holding down the ctrl and alt keys, then pressing the delete key. When it opens, you need to click on the processes tab. In the left hand column you will see a list of processes, for example you should see iTunes Helper.exe and iPodservice.exe amongst a lot of others. You may need to scrolldown to find them.
Once you have got then hang of it, restart your PC - and open the task manager, then start iTunes and look for iTunes.exe in the list of processes.
It may not appear at all, it may appear briefly then disappear, or it may appear and remain although iTunes doesn't open.

  • I lost my iPod Nano. Can I retrieve all of the songs in my itunes library, or just the ones I purchased from the store?

I lost my iPod Nano. Can I retrieve all of the songs in my iTunes library, or just the ones I bought through the iTunes store?

The "bar" at the bottom does not say anything about all of your songs being on the iPod.  It just shows you how much of its storage capacity is being used, based on what is on the iPod.
If you see "On This iPod," that means the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible.  This is easier to describe with the sidebar visible, so from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  There is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if (?) your iTunes music library fits on the iPod.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod, and new songs get synced automatically.  A 7th gen iPod nano is 16GB, so your iTunes music library would have to be less than 16GB (not counting non-music content on the iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the iPod, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the iPod.
When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the iPod's Music screen) sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).

  • Ipod Light wont come on when it say do not disconncet..

my ipod light wont come on when it says do not disconncet... hmmm..i am just wondering why its doing that cause its doing it with mine and my moms...it really weird... any idea why it could be happening? or is it just cause this pc is 7yr old?

When you plug it in, and it says "Do not disconnect"?
The light is supposed to stay off.
Right. Mine doesn't come on either.
You've got a normal, healthy iPod. You wouldn't believe some of the horrible injuries we see here, so just breathe out and be glad to be alive!

  • My ipod touch wont turn on at all even when i connect it to my computer

So my ipod touch wont turn on at all even when i connect it to my computer! it was working fine then outta no where it wouldnt wanna turn back on. i tryed resetting but it doesn't do anything. Also when i put it on the charger it seems to get pretty hot...is the normal? help please...

There are two different causes of this, either it has been overheated, or the iPod just crashed.  If it crashed, there is one simple step to fixing it.  Letting the battery die.  Do not connect to a charger port, or the device may get overheated, and need to be replaced.  Once it dies, it normally will show the icon, that is needs to be charged. Once you charge it back up, it should go back to normal.  If this doesn't help, then contact apple to the nearest store about getting a replacement.

  • Please help! ipod nano wont work at all!

Please Help! my ipod nano has decided to stop working altogether - will not switch on or connect to computer. have tried to reset it several times but it wont work!
any ideas much appreciated - it worked an hour ago and i only got it this morning!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Congrats, for your nano! Not for its problems, I mean!
    About your iPod's problem:
First, make sure the "hold" switch isn't on. The hold switch is located on the top of your iPod. If it's orange, then that means it's on. If it's grey, it's not on. Switch it off (grey) if it was on (orange).
If that wasn't the problem, let's make sure your iPod is even charged enough. Hook your iPod into the computer using the USB cord to the computer (that also charges the iPod), leave it there for 10 minutes, and see if it comes alive.
Presuming that your iPod won't charge or wake up to your computer charger, if you have a wall charger for your iPod (that's different than the cord for the computer charger), hook it up, leave it there for 10 minutes, and see what happens.
Thes suggestions should work for your iPod. It's most likely something pretty simple.
Post back if this helped or not, I hope it did. Good day!

    Hi shannons923,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps that may help, and additional information if the issue persists:

Although the image is for an iPod classic, the steps also apply to your iPod nano (7th generation).

  • Can't Get My iPod Nano To Work -- Have Followed All Instructions

My iPod Nano arrived yesterday. I'm generally good at computers, and did think I'd have any trouble getting it working. Apparently, I was wrong.
When I plug it into my computer, it shows up in Windows Explorer as "Removable Disk", but trying to access it just gives me an error. iTunes doesn't see it. I have followed all of the instructions given with the iPod, and on every applicable support page I could find, including this one which seems to describe the problem perfectly: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716, but to no avail. I've reset the iPod, and even tried to restore it (though I have no idea why I should need to for a brand new product). I've connected it to half a dozen different USB ports, tried everything on two different computers, but it refuses to work.
I am getting extremely fed up with this, and would appreciate any advice to help me solve this problem.
EDIT: The iPod itself seems to function properly at the little it can do without any media. Also, when I try to run the iPod updater, it either freezes or throws the "iPod Service Error".

We all seem to having similar problems; so now what? Since I connected my ipod to the computer,I have been unable to use my ipod at all (it won't even turn on, other than display the "do not disconnect" sign) and while my computer recognizes the ipod, itunes does not. I am concerned about re-installing itunes because I have purchased songs and am afraid I will lose them; I cannot restore my ipod since I will lose all the songs on the ipod that have been purchased;and it will not simply do an update.
I agree that this is extremely frustrating, particularly when there doesn't seem to be an online support system directly with Apple.
    Any ideas????

  • IPod Nano wont update songs!!!

Okay, when I plug my ipod nano into the USB port and my itunes pop up, the stage where my ipod would usually update itself is replaced with a popup window that says: Songs on "iPod Nano" cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist.
Yes, I have no playlists right now, for some reason in the past I deleted them all. But this problem has erased all the songs and things I have on my ipod and since it wont update my songs I cant seem to put them back in (this includes the burned ones and ones bought from the music store). I am totally confused on what to do, someone PLEASE help!!

Okay, when I plug my ipod nano into the USB port and

usually update itself is replaced with a popup window
that says: Songs on "iPod Nano" cannot be updated

    longer exist.
I am experiencing, for the first time, a VERY similar issue; except I have MANY playlists, and, up until now, I have been able to selectively manage them on my iPod (2Gb iPod, 60Gb of music). Now, all of a sudden, I get the error that is quoted above, although I have already restored iPod twice, reinstalled iTunes once, as well as selected manual sync, and they all "crap-out" about 1/3 of the way thru the synch-job. Never before have I had any similar problems with my product. Please help.
