Ipod Nano wont reset

Help! My nano is stuck on pause! I cant get any songs to play-cant reset it, cant charge it and when I plug it into the computer, the nano is recognizing that itunes needs to be updated. Any suggestions on how to get it un-stuck? And no, the hold button isnt the problem.
Thanks for any input you can give me! LB

If it still won't work, you may need to wait for the battery to die.

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting?  After leaving the iPod connected to an external power source to charge for at least 30 minutes, have you tried resetting it?

And yes, you can swap the battery out yourself.

  • My ipod nano wont let me download video i downloaded off of my computer

my ipod nano wont let me sync my videos on my computer

Not all video format downloaded from iTunes is compatible with ipod nano. Make sure that the file extnesion is mp4 or any quicktime formats. If not, create a version on these format using iTunes or convert using a third party software. Cheers!

Hi, got the same problem as kerry221. The proposal given by stevejobsfan0123 did not solve it.
Additionally iMac does not shut down after closing iTunes. Need to manually shut down the iMac.
Problem occurred after last software update.
Open for any further proposal :-)

ipod nano 5 resets but won't sync with itunes on two different pc's

What happens when you try? Does the iPod even appear in iTunes?  Have you tried a different cable or different USB ports on each PC?
    Need a little more information.

  • My brand spankin' new ipod 2G Nano wont reset after freeze

OK, got a brand new 2G Nano 4 gig when I bought my Imac. Got it maybe 3 weeks ago or so. To date I hadnt used he ipod at all. Finally got some songs and podcasts into itunes last night, synced with the ipod. Ipod is charged 100%. Went to play the podcast, and it froze. Reading on here that freezing and podcasts seems to be a big issue........lovely.
So I tried to reset......nothing, wont reset. Tried unpugging and replugging into different USB ports, and the itunes will not even recognize the ipod. Right now its sitting on my desk with the backlight on, I'm just waiting for the battery to die and maybe I'll be able to reset or restore it
Is there something else I should try to make the imac recognize it? Or anything else I can do to reset it?
    Thanks

This happened to me as well and let me tell you... i was about to flip out. I couldn't believe that i upgraded to a 2nd Generation Ipod nano just to have it die within' two days of me owning it. Anyway try this it worked for me hope it works for you:
Reset instructions differ slightly from Apple site.
    1. Toggle hold switch on (orange showing)
    2. Toggle hold switch off
    3. Hold down menu AND center button for a few seconds
    4. Try once more if it didn't work

  • Ipod nano wont sync or restor

This is my first ipod of any kind. and i just got the Ipod Nano 4th gen. when i go to the summary tab to restore original settings after going through all of it a window opens up and says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the ipod "iPod". You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
i had at first tried syncing it to my Realplayer but then found that would not work even tho thats where i had been getting most of my music. It had asked me to set the Ipod to manual syncing or something like that i cant remember but it wont repeat it. anyways it set it to that for me and now i cant seem to get ipod to work with itunes at all... I just want it to sync with itunes and ill use that only to save the trouble.
I have went through all the steps to reseting it according to the apple support site but it did not work.

What is the exact wording of the error message?
    Why won't it sync?
Are you running the latest version of iTunes (10.7)?

  • Ipod nano wont rotate

Hey there...I have a Ipod Nano 4G and i have a little problem..every once and a while the accelerometer kidna gets stuck...so when i rotate the ipod..it wont go into coverflow mode,or roatate the video or picture...Thus...the shake to shuffle feature works perfectly and it does rotate when i play the included games..any idea on how to fix this problem?I tryed resetting and restorin it ..but it didnt work..
    Thanks!!=

I am having this same problem. Virtually every time I try to watch a video (or do album cover flow), the screen won't rotate when I want to watch it with the click wheel to the left of the creen. Restarting and restoring iPod hasn't helped. I can usually get it to rotate by hitting it firmly on its side against the palm of my hand a few times, but this can't be good for the iPod. Accelerometer works fine on games and shake to shuffle.
Does anyone know what else to do? I'm frustrated.

  • Ipod nano wont switch off

I have a 4g ipod nano. I went away for a month and left it at home unused, only to find when I got back it now wont switch off when I hold the middle button of the click wheel and stays permantly on. I have tried to restore and reset it, and yes, the hold button is off.

    Welcome to discussions
Well first, you're supposed to hold down the "play/pause" button to put the iPod to sleep. Try that and see if it works.
If that doesn't work, press and hold the select and menu button at the same time until the screen goes black/blank. This is a soft reset of your iPod. Your music will be safe.

    Hi shannons923,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps that may help, and additional information if the issue persists:

The iPod does not need to be turned off to reset it. Here are the instructions for resetting the ipod. If this fails to do the trick you may want to try and do a restore.

  • Ipod Nano wont mount on 10.2.8

I got my nano last week and it worked great (slow on usb 1.1) but I can live with that. The wife used it all week and tonight we tried to recharge it and wala... kaput.
Its locked up frozen on pause in the middle of a song. It won't mount or show in iTunes. It wont reset, it won't do anything at all. It just sits there with its glowing color screen.
I thought it might be the battery was too low... it been an hour no go. Rebooting mac is no help either. Tried the toggle hold reset procedure and nothing.
I did install a couple updates to OSX last night. I did not pay any attention to what they were (my bad).
I have the latest ipod updater... no dice since the drive won't mount.
Hoping someone has an idea or its back to the manufacturer tomorrow for a refund.
    -Ben

    It finally reset!
I toggled the hold switch a few times and (while on hold) then held down menu and the center buttons and it reset.
I had done this procedure a dozen times before to no effect. Still perhaps the battery was so low that it didnt work before. I dont know just a guess.

  • Please Help! Ipod nano wont turn on.

Ok, well, my battery was low so I decided to charge it like, three days ago. Ok? Now, I charged it from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am. I woke up at 6:00 am to unplug it and have a great day. Then, the screen was just plain old black. I checked to see if it was on hold, it wasnt. I tried turning it on, it didnt turn on. I tried reseting it, it wouldnt reset. I followed the steps given for support, it didnt work. I deleted my cookies, it didnt work. Now, it wont turn on and I cant listen to my music! I'm so ****** at apple!!!!! What should I do?
