Ipod Nano wont update firmware

Hello,
I have a dialup connection and although, I can download video content, and the new apple itunes 7.3, I have not been able to get my ipod nano to update the firmware version from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3.
I will either get kicked out during download, or get an error message related to verification of the file.
Is there a separate way to download the file directly, or do I have to use itunes.
thanks

In the restore instructions it says that you need to plug the iPod into a power adaptor during the second stage.
Not really.
Actually it says,
"iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
* Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
* Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models)."
You will get Restore Instruction 2.

  • IPod Nano wont update songs!!!

Okay, when I plug my ipod nano into the USB port and my itunes pop up, the stage where my ipod would usually update itself is replaced with a popup window that says: Songs on "iPod Nano" cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist.
Yes, I have no playlists right now, for some reason in the past I deleted them all. But this problem has erased all the songs and things I have on my ipod and since it wont update my songs I cant seem to put them back in (this includes the burned ones and ones bought from the music store). I am totally confused on what to do, someone PLEASE help!!

I am experiencing, for the first time, a VERY similar issue; except I have MANY playlists, and, up until now, I have been able to selectively manage them on my iPod (2Gb iPod, 60Gb of music). Now, all of a sudden, I get the error that is quoted above, although I have already restored iPod twice, reinstalled iTunes once, as well as selected manual sync, and they all "crap-out" about 1/3 of the way thru the synch-job. Never before have I had any similar problems with my product. Please help.

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer.

Hi, got the same problem as kerry221. The proposal given by stevejobsfan0123 did not solve it.
Additionally iMac does not shut down after closing iTunes. Need to manually shut down the iMac.
Problem occurred after last software update.
Open for any further proposal :-)

  • My ipod nano wont let me download video i downloaded off of my computer

my ipod nano wont let me sync my videos on my computer

Not all video format downloaded from iTunes is compatible with ipod nano. Make sure that the file extnesion is mp4 or any quicktime formats. If not, create a version on these format using iTunes or convert using a third party software. Cheers!

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

I get a message "The Itunes server could not be contacted, check your internet connection" when trying to check for Ipod Nano software updates. I have a 1st generation Nano and haven't updated the software for a while. My internet connection is working. Was thre a change in the internet address for NANO software updates? Do I have to reconfigure something in Itunes to point to the correct address?

What version of iTunes are you using?  The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

  • Direct download of 1.1.1 iPod Nano 2nd gen firmware?

Sadly, lack any broadband access in our very rural area. Got iTunes 7.something downloaded and home via usb drive, installed fine. 2nd Gen iPod nano working fine. iTunes says update to 1.1.1 firmware, fails repeatedly during attempts at 40MB download over dialup ISP. Can't find a link anywhere on apple.com to enable download 1.1.1 firmware then transport home via usb thumb drive/install via iTunes, etc. Surely such a direct download is possible? How to perform?
      Windows XP

Had zero responses, fair number of reads, will assume no way to download just the firmware file, without an iTunes-installed PC with broadband access. iPods, iTunes, all non-project SW are verbotten where I work, but boardband could be used to download a firmware file, take it home and apply. Will try snagging free wifi somewhere with a laptop, just wanted to avoid that hassle.

  • Nano wont update, wont play video

I just bought my two little sisters both ipod nano's and when i try to add video it wont go on the ipod, and it keeps telling me to update the ipod software but when i do, it downloads and freezes and says intunes network is unavailable. I've tried to update the software on both ipods for 3 hours, still get the same message. Anyone can help? I just bought them yesterday.

See if this helps: iPod Updater for Windows: "Internal manager error" occurs when restoring or updating iPod
You most likely will need to get the latest updater if you don't already have it by now. If it's not downloading on your PC maybe you could have someone download it for you.
