IPOD no longer appears in Itunes

My Ipod is no longer appearing in Itunes. Everything was working fine last week, then all of sudden, I am no longer able to see my Ipod in Itunes.
The Ipod is running the latest firmware. It was updated with the latest Updater. Itunes is the latest version.
Unplugging, replugging does not work.
The Ipod battery is 100 % charged.
The ipod does not even appear in My Computer.
The Ipod works fine with existing songs that are downloaded on it.
The Ipod was working fine last week on the same computer. For the longest time, it was not working. Last week it worked. This week it no longer works. What is going on here?
Why would the ipod all of a sudden stop working with Itunes on my computer?
Cheers,

A USB flash drive was added to my computer.
okay, let's check on this possibility then (there's also a link to it in one of the articles that Mr Bond referenced):
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
what i'm thinking here is that it is possible that you've usually got a drive letter confusion. (so your PC doesn't recognise the ipod). but when that drive was added, it changed around the drive letter assignments. so you stopped having the drive letter confusion with the ipod (and you could recognise it again). when it was taken back off the system, the drive letter assignments changed again. so you went back to having the drive letter confusion problem with the ipod.

  • Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes. Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod. Only podcasts are affected.

I have not seen this precise issue addressed anywhere. I don’t know if it’s an iTunes or an iPod problem:
    - Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes;
this, after normal behavior for more than a year since purchase of the iPod.
    - Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod.
    - Only podcasts are affected.
    - This concerns an iPod nano 6th gen. and iTunes 11.0.2 (26) on System 10.6.8
    - The only change to iTunes, the Mac, or the iPod is that just before this condition began
I’d begun syncing an iPhone via iTunes.
I sync manually (“manually manage music and videos”). The first time this happened, I wanted to delete seventeen podcast episodes (all belonging to one podcast) existing on the iPod — but they didn’t show up in iTunes. I tried re-downloading them and re-syncing, to see if the new versions would somehow “re-link” to iTunes. They didn’t. Only one — new — episode appeared in iTunes.
I ultimately reset the iPod and manually resynced all the podcasts I currently had on iTunes. That worked, though I had to painstakingly add in all the other content deleted by the reset.
So: after that reset and manual sync, all podcasts and episodes on the iPod were visible to iTunes and I was able to delete the podcast and its — now 18 — episodes I’d wanted to get rid of to begin with. But the next time I connected the iPod, only 8 podcast episodes out of 21 episodes total existing on the iPod were visible to iTunes. These are different podcasts; I’d deleted the original “invisible” ones.
By “visible,” I mean in the “Podcasts” list view under “[name]’s iPod” in the iTunes sidebar. If I select “[name]’s” iPod in the iTunes sidebar and the “Podcasts” tab, all podcasts and episodes are visible, though greyed out because I’m set to sync manually. It’s unclear to me if these are the podcasts on the iPod or those currently in iTunes, as they are currently the same. If I switch to syncing automatically, all content on the iPod will be lost again, so I’m not up to trying it at the moment.
As I said,  this involves only podcasts. All other content on the iPod does appear in iTunes.

I have the same problem- i see my movies in the ipod section in itunes and they even show as mpeg4 in the 'kind' section but they dont have that small TV icon next to them. if i play these in itunes, they play fine- but try playing them on the ipod and all you hear is the sound and no picture. All videos that i manually transfer work fine in the beginning- its when i hook up the ipod to the comp again and start itunes- they start showing up without the 'tv' icon!! i have to again transfer them from the itunes library to activate them as videos.

  • Question:  ipod no longer appears in itunes and my computer.

iPod Nano no longer appears in iTunes or in my computer. Songs are there but the device is not recognized

Okay. I was going to say....
What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
    How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • MacBook is 10.10.2 upgrade, iPod no longer appears in iTunes.

Hi, since upgrading my Macbook pro to latest software OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 my iPod classic is no longer recognised in iTunes. It shows as connected on iPod and can be found in disc utility and as an external source but nothing at all in iTunes. Have read lots of other posts and the apple help without success. I have no updates available in app store. Tried multiple iPod resets, mac restarts and different usb leads/ports.
    Can anyone please help?
upgraded to 10.10.3 now too but made no difference.

  • Ipod no longer recognised in Itunes 12

I bought some music that I would like to add to my Ipod (an older model). Annoyingly, it doesn't show up in Itunes anymore! I've read that it might be under playlists, but it isn't there either. I have this new Itunes 12 now on my Macbook Air so I'm guessing it might be because of that.
I simply cannot believe that Apple would have screwed this up so badly, so what am I missing here? My ipod does start charging, but it doesn't show the "connected" screen anymore.
I obviously tried restarting/reconnecting everything a couple of times and I checked if there is an update available (there isn't). I have Mountain Lion OSX and I don't intent to download Yosemite, as I don't like the way it looks.

I just tried it again and this time a different message showed up "The iPod 'name' cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found." I have no clue what folder it could be talking about.

  • 3G iPod no longer mounts in iTunes

My 3G iPod with Click Wheel no longer appears in iTunes on any of the three computers that I have authorized -- including the brand new Mac Pro that I just installed at work this week -- even after I performed a clean install of OS X 10.4.10. I have tried every recommended step in the Support section, trying both USB 2.0 and Firewire connections, reinstalling OS X 10.4.10 through archive/install, the five steps of Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, & Restore... nothing.
Any help would be appreciated. I'd really like to update my Playlists.

For some inexplicable reason, after nearly a month of not recognizing my iPod, today on my new Mac Pro iTunes decided to recognize that a corrupted iPod was indeed connected to my computer and asked me to restore the software.
I have no idea why it wouldn't see if for so long, or why it suddenly decided to see it now, but it's at least working.
    Go figure.

My iPhone 4 no longer appears in iTunes. But it does charge. Tried most tips please help someone!

    Hi there,
No I didn't. Someone suggested in another thread that my iPod was registering as a disk instead of a device, so if I removed my iPod as a disk on Disk Utility then it would reload etc. and show up in iTunes. Which it didn't, and instead just cleared all my music (16,000 songs).
    So frustrating.
Hope if you have the same problem you are able to find a better solution!

  • Apple TV (1st Gen) no longer appears in iTunes 10.

Hi there, my Apple TV (1st Gen) no longer appears in itunes 10.
I have looked at as many of the forums as I can and I have followed all the advice to reset Apple TV, router and PC. No joy. I have then restored Apple TV, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, checked router ports etc. but still no joy.
The Apple TV is connected to my network just fine (I can download movie trailers etc.), my PC is connected to the network just fine (itunes store opens and I can shop). However, the Apple TV does not appear in the devices list on the LHS of the itunes window, there is no Apple TV tab in preferences and I cannot locate my library (not listed) on the Apple TV.
Basically I have tried everything I can find to try to solve this, but no joy. Please can someone help me as this is driving me crazy?

If you've reset AppleTv, have you actually set up the sync/share computer again?
If not go to Settings>Computers and add a new library - a 5 digit code will appear for you to enter in itunes.
The top computer entry in the list syncs and streams, the others only stream.  If you plan to purchase anything make sure you have an entry for sync/stream as streaming only libraries may not transfer AppletV purchases.

  • My ipod touch has a permanent image of the end of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to an icon of ITunes. I can't reset, and ipod does not appear on itunes when I plug it into the computer.  This happened after I agreed to a failed software update.

My ipod touch has a permanent image of the end of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to an icon of ITunes. I can't reset using the two button method, and ipod does not appear on itunes when I plug it into the computer - and nothing else happens either.  This happened after I agreed to a software update which failed.  How can I get it going again?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod does not appear in itunes after windows scan and fix

Two days ago, I restored my Ipod classic using Itunes 9.2.0.61. After restoration my Ipod started freezing Itunes and Vista. At a point, I saw a blue screen and my computer forced a shutdown. When it rebooted, Vista kept asking to automatically "scan and fix" problems on my Ipod. Thinking that would solve the "freeze" problem, I stupidly went ahead to have Vista scan and fix my Ipod. Now the freeze problem is gone, but my Ipod does not appear in Itunes. I have tried the five Rs from Apple, but that has not helped. Anyone with a solution?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

and my computer opened iPhoto as it always does. It obviously recognized the device, but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it. Is there some setting I may have accidentally turned off?
Also, today, there seems to be no sound coming through either my internal speakers or my headphones, and not just in iTunes. I doubt these two problems are related, but perhaps there is something beyond coincidence and an old computer?

but the iPod sis not appear in iTunes and I therefore could not sync it.
Try reinstalling the AMDS >  iTunes: How to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X

For sound issues check System Preferences > Sound

  • My ipod no longer synchs with itunes

My ipod no longer syncs with iTunes and my computer. It shows up under devices, but not in itunes.  I installed an update from Apple yesterday. Could this be causing the problem (their updates have caused issues before), or is there something I need to do to get the iPod to synch with iTunes? Thanks. JP

    Try

    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause
