Ipod no longer plays anything, it just sits there on 0:00 and looks at me

My ipod now does not play anything, songs podcasts anything. In each case I can select the song and it will sit at 0:00. I can change tracks, press pause but it won't play.
I have have reset, upgraded itunes to 7.4.1, rebooted the pc, upgrade the firmware 1.2.1, restored, cried, everything.
It's broken isn't it?

Is everyone having this issue able to play music from your iPod through iTunes? I have discovered that while connected and playing music through iTunes and holding the iPod up to my ear I can hear the HD spinning and working as it should.
When I disconnect the iPod and attempt to play a song I hear the same sound for about 3 seconds and then it quits. The counter does not move and the song does not play.
Can anyone having the same issue attempt what I mentioned above and post their results.

Hello ..do you have a history on the phone? did you get it wet? was it dropped? have you been using an authentic ORIGINAL apple charging cable?
this problem occurs when there is a short circuit in the phone... you most likely got it wet at some point and maybe didnt even realize it? The moisture in the phone hasb probablly oxidized one or several capacitors, integrated chips thereby short circuiting the phone. that is why he phone is acting erratic because these short circuits inadvertently "activates" other circuits.. eventually the phone will not turn on anymore- the heat will stress the citcuit board and you will have discontinuity along your main power lines and the phone will cease to function..i see this alllll the time in our shop
the fact you upgraded to ios6 will even work the phone harder because its a more powerful operating system taking full advantage of the A4 chip..

This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:

b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:

iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!!

I am trying to upload movies from my pc to my itunes, when i select import files or folders and select the movie it does nothing, no error message or anything, it just sits there.

You are using File->Add File (or Folder) to Library, right?
Make sure that you also look at the various categories of content stored on the library: turn on the sidebar (Ctrl+S keys toggle) and click the categories to see if the content shows in the content window of iTunes.
It could be you are trying to add a video/movie in a format iTunes does not accept because it cannot play it or work with it. (And yes, if iTunes cannot add it to the library, it should absolutely report an error message rather than leave you wondering and drop the command.)

By default you can only add M4V, MP4 and MOV files to iTunes. Simply drag and drop them into your library. If you have videos in other file formats (like AVI or MKV) you have to convert them one by one with a tool like HandBrake.
On Mac there are dedicated tools that will import videos for you, even without reconverting them. Additionally they will download artwork, put them in the Movies or TV Show category, etc. But I don't know if such tools exist for windows.

When I open firefox 3.6.13, a program called mixer.exe also opens, but it just sits there on the taskbar and doesn't seem to do anything. Mixer.exe is not on my list of add-ons. It uses 872k of memory. What is it? Is it supposed to be there?

mixer.exe uses 872k of memory according to task manager.
It shows up on the taskbar whenever I open firefox 3.6.13. It has an icon of a little rectangle with two white arrows attached to the side of the rectangle pointing inward. When I left click or right click on the Mixer icon on the taskbar, nothing happens. What is this mixer.exe? It isn't listed as one of my add-ons.

what kind of connection do you have? do you use the ipod 30 pin cable that connects directly to the head unit? it so, maybe you could get help on the alpine site, or a similar site?it could just be a bad connection. you may just have to go oldschool and use rca cables and plug those in...

IPod does not play anything. But...

My iPod video will not play anything. It doesn't freeze, it doesn't skip, it just won't play anything. The buttons are functioning, and I've tried the 5Rs, it just won't play anything. The time stays at 0:00, and I'm able to do things like go back to the menu, and change the volume. I've viewed the other topics on the forum, and restoration has worked for all of them, but not me. The songs are from CDs that were lawfully purchased. Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried a reformat in Windows (FAT32, not a quick format) and then a Restore in iTunes?
Also, after doing this and before syncing, Deauthorize your computer in the Store menu, play one of your iTunes Store purchased songs and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password. Now sync the iPod.

These are apps for the iphone/ipod/ipad.
They do not work on your computer.
You need to sync them to your iphone/ipod touch/ipad and use them from there.

Why is it taking so long to see my purchases when using ituens on my ipad 3? It just sits there with a circle going round for ages.

using the ituens icon on my ipad I am trying to see what I have purchased and maybe download a film or album from my purchased items to watch or listen to again. The circle just sits there going round all the time regardless of what router I'm plugged up to on wifi.
Its like something is running really slowly. I can go to stroe and apps store ok. its just the purchases screen is taking for ever.
I can't be the only one with this problem and I certainly don't have a huge library by any standards.
Anyone had this problem or have a solution?

I have this same exact issue, however only with music. It happens when files are added in anyway: dragged, automatically added, opened from safari.
I have Mountain Lion, a new MacBook Pro with Retina, and iTunes Match turned on. I have a feeling iTunes is trying to match/upload the songs first. I've just added 10 songs, iTunes said they were copied over but they don't show up in my library but I can see the cloud icon "working".
EDIT: That's not the reason, the songs finally showed up but they are still waiting to be matched.

Clicking on M/S' RUN and/or SAVE does nothing - just sits there

Have had this problem for a few days. In trying to open again, it always tells me Firefox is still running and to close it first. There is no Firefox running! Have uninstalled FF and in trying to install a new one, I get as far as the Run/Save; clicking on either one does nothing, it just sits there. Thanks for your help. After install of Mavericks, it looks like my system kernal panics and just sits there. I tried waiting over two nights. Tried reinstalling twice, booting r/s. Recovery partition now has Mavericks as OS. Im running a iMac i3 27 inch circa 2011. Any ideas?

Recovery partition now has Mavericks as OS. Im running a iMac i3 27 inch circa 2011. Any ideas? Can still bootcamp into windows.

The file seems to create the CD/DVD/Image and USB just fine. So I used this only to create a CD image which I then wrote on a blank CD which seems to work fine. Also, I played around a bit and had some partial success in booting the partition. I've updated my original opening post with the new findings.
Whew!! what a waste of time! Never want to do all of this again .

Having issues when try to burn a disc., which I never had an issue doing. Yesterday when I tried to burn a playlist it says "checking media" but just sits there. I know drive is working because I can put in a purchased cd and can import it into my library, but now it just sits there and hums until I maually eject the disc.Before all this started it said something about that I should "calibrate disc", since then it won't let me do any burning. I can't find any options in " preferences to change anything except the burn speed. Any suggestions? Tried rebooting, tried using my wifes iTunes on same comptuer.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.
