IPod no longer plays videos!!!

I have had this iPod for nearly 3 years and it has decided to stop playing all videos: music videos, movies, tv show, everything. I haven't done anything differently, no new iTunes, no new software. I have tried resetting it but that didn't work. I don't want to do a restore because I will lose all my music, not cool. Please help!

What exactly happens on the screen when you try to play a video? Do you hear the sound through the headphones? More details please.

Hello...About a year ago I downloaded a Kelly Clarkson music video to my 5th generation ipod and it worked fine. I haven't watched it for a while but when I tried to play it today on my ipod nothing happened. (works fine on my itunes music library). Instead of a video on my ipod all I have is a small icon of the Kelly Clarkson album cover artwork (the music plays but no video.) Can someone tell me what might be wrong? I tried going into video settings and tried adjusting but it didn't work. My current video settings are:
TV OUT: "ON"
tv signal: "NTSC" (should it be "PAL" or would that not make a difference?
Widescreen: On
It would be helpfus if someone also explained to me what these settings mean...

TV out should be set to OFF if you want to view the video on the iPod's screen. The icon you see indicates it is playing but the video signal is being outputted from the headphone and dock connector jacks and not being sent to the iPod's LCD screen.

I can no longer play videos on my Mac mini.

I got a new magic mouse for Christmas. I connected it to my Mac mini Lion. It works great but I can no
longer play videos like from YouTube. I just see a black screen. Even the start triangle does not show up.
This is date coincident with installing the new mouse.
Does anybody have a clue what is going on here?

The Magic Mouse and YouTube videos don't have anything to do with each other. I switch between my Magic Mouse and my track pad all day, and it has no effect on YouTube.
YouTube playback is browser and Flash Player related.
Check your Safari Security preferences to be sure that Plugins are allowed.

what kind of connection do you have? do you use the ipod 30 pin cable that connects directly to the head unit? it so, maybe you could get help on the alpine site, or a similar site?it could just be a bad connection. you may just have to go oldschool and use rca cables and plug those in...

Guys I have the same problem.
Since I installed iTunes 10.5 I can't play any of my music videos downloaded from the iTunes store.
I can play music ok but no videos. I just click on the videos and nothing happens!!

Why does Safari no longer play video?

When IOS 8 came out & the macbook software was also updated around that same time (Nov/Dec 2014?), Safari no longer plays videos. It continuously claims that I need the most recent version of Adobe Flash installed and even though I do that, & other browsers can play videos without issue, Safari can't play any of them!!! Apple is getting worse than Microsoft nowadays with such issues popping up everywhere & never being resolved.

1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
    Press “Delete All” button under “Browsing Data and Settings”.
2. Install Adobe Flash Player.

    Download it and quit Safari from Safari menu in the menu bar.
    Follow the prompts to install Adobe Flash Player.
3. Allow Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow plug-ins"
    Enable it.

You have two choices to try & fix this: 1. Backup your phone, then restore as a new device, then restore from the backup you first created, or 2. Follow the advise from this poster:
I had the same problem with the black blocks after upgrading to iOS4 on my iPhone. The reason for the black blocks is that the thumbnail images for those particular images have not been created when the Photo Library has been updated to iOS4. I followed the advice on a couple of blogs and fixed the problem.
1. I downloaded iPhone Explorer free software (http://www.macroplant.com/iphoneexplorer/) so I could view the photo data folders on my phone. I could see that the thumbnail images were missing.
2. I followed a slight variation on the instructions on this blog. (http://blog.mbentley.net/2010/06/iphone-ios-4-upgrade-restore-lost-pictures-in-c amera-roll/)
3. First I copied the Photo Data folder by dragging it from the iPhone Explorer window to my Mac desktop.
4. Through iPhone Explorer I deleted the info.plist file in the Media/PhotoData/MISC folder.
5. I also deleted the Photos.sqlite and PhotosAux.sqlite files in Media/PhotoData.
6. I then rebooted the phone and launched the Photo Library.
7. The Library rebuilt it's self again and recreated the thumbnails.
8. The problem was fixed!!! Thank you M Bentley!

My ipod won't play video on my tv

my ipod will not play video on my tv. it tell me tv out enabled please connect video accesory. i have an standard red/white/yellow rca plugged into the earphone jack and it is plugged in properly behind the tv.

The 4th gen Nano has no video out through the headset jack the way older iPods did.. You need the cable that plugs into the port where your sync cable plugs in. As far as I know, the cable is only available through Apple but I could be out of date on that.

ok now are the videos that are not updating to the ipod the same videos that used to update to it? Or is it new content you have imported to itunes since you last updated the ipod with videos? Also, are these videos itunes purchased or user created content?

Now once you have made sure that your videos are in the correct format and have been converted to play on the ipod, make sure that your ipod preferences are set to automatically update the videos. Or you can try manual mode and drag and drop em onto the ipod.

30GB 5G Ipod no longer plays any video -HELP!

I have a 5G ipod purchased toward the end of 2005. It always worked great until I went to play a video the other day. My ipod crashes every time I try to play any video, whether downloaded from itunes, homemade, anything. This isn't an issue of needing to turn the TV-Out setting off. I've tried restoring, reverting to previous firmwares (from 1.2.1 to 1.1.2 and 1.0, using itunes 7.2), formatting and restoring, everything I've seen on forums everywhere. It used to play video just fine, so I'm completely at a loss. If I select a video through the audio podcast area, it will play the audio portion. When I try to play videos properly, the screen stays blank and no longer accepts input - I have to reset the ipod. I know that I'm out of warranty so I'm probably boned, aren't I?

I just purchased my 30gb video iPod, and am running into almost the exact same situation. The only difference is that I don't have to reset it. It just won't play a movie at all. It starts the little "timer" thing that clicks around, but then goes back out of the movie. I know the movie is a good download, because I can watch it from start to finish within iTunes.
Anyone got any ideas? I really don't want to stay on hold for 1-2 hours waiting on a person to talk to with tech support!

Can anyone tell me exactly why I can no longer play ANY (personal, purchased, downloaded) videos or pictures from my iPod 4th Generation to my TV with the same cables I've been using for several months to do just that? I no longer have the "TV output" option in my "Video" menu either. Is this due to a software "upgrade?"

Try:
- A reset. Nothing will be lost:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next restore from backup va iTunes

Ipod Classic will no longer play video podcasts after upgrade to iTunes 10.

I have a 120GB Classic. I used to be able to play video podcasts just fine. Since upgrading to iTunes 10.0 in September I can see Podcasts with a little video symbol next to them on the iPod, but when I click on them the screen goes black for a couple of seconds, then flips back to the menu. If I copy the Podcast to a playlist, I get audio but no video, as always. The video podcast plays fine on the PC. I've tried "converting to iPod or iPhone version" with no success. I've Googled this problem and found many others with this issue, none with their question answered. Does anyone know if this is an issue acknowledged by Apple, and if so, do they plan to fix it? My IPOD 4th generation has stopped playing videos. It will play the audio only and displays message "TV CONNECTED" "THIS VIDEO IS PLAYING ON THE TV". Don't know how to re-adjust video setting to what it was prior to this happening.

Do you have an Apple TV? An iPod can AirPlay to an Apple TV.
Can you provide a screen shot of what yo are seeing? Also what specific app is it?
