IPod no longer sees  ANY wireless networks

Last week I noticed that my Touch would regularly lose its connection to the internet (the little wireless indicator would disappear and the only way to get it back on was to go into Settings > Wi-Fi Networks > "Choose a Network"). Then it started getting worse. I would follow the above process but would see NO networks. I would turn the Wi-Fi slider off, then on, and usually on the first or second try it would display networks. Somewhere in this process the iPod quit asking me if I wanted to join availabe networks in the app (the little pop-up of availabe networks quit appearing). Friday night a friend called to ask me for a phone number and I ran Safari, got online via the above, lengthy process and little did I know, but that'd be the last time my iPod would go online.
Saturday morning I woke up to check my email via iPod and it said no networks available. Normally in my apartment I can see 3, one of which is mine. I manually entered my SSID and was informed that iPod was unable to connect. Then I walked over and rebooted the router, still no luck.
The following also had no results:
1. I "Reset network settings."
2. I "Reset All Settings."
3. Restore from backup via iTunes.
4. Turning off "Fetch New Data"
The following allowed me to see my home network exactly one time (but still didn't let me connect.)
1. Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
2. Restore from back-up
3. Settings > Wi-fi
My network SSID appeared exactly one time, though neither of the neighbors wireless did. I clicked on the name, and got "unable to join..." at which point the SSID disappeared from the list. (which now only says, "Other..." and refuses to join my network when I enter the SSID and the iPod is SITTING ON THE ROUTER!")
I'm now at work and the WPA network at work also doesn't show up. Normally from my desk I can see 3 networks.
At home, I've got (at this point) an unencrypted, SSID-broadcast, non-MAC filtering network that works for 5 other machines in the house. According to apple my Serial Number is not worthy of free technical support so I'm appealing to the masses here with some hope that this is a simple procedure that I'm missing. If this is really a hardware failure of the iPod at 11 months there's some serious quality control issues!

I've got this exact same issue which just started for me last night (running 2.0.1 software). I was unable to pick up my own home network or my neighbours which always shows up in my list. I reset the iPod touch but to no avail. I then did a factory restore on it today but that didn't fix the issue. I phoned Apple Support and within 5 minutes he was filling out a despatch note and arranging for a courier to come and pick it up within 3 working days for repair. Luckily I'm just within the 1 year warranty as I've had the iPod touch for 11 months. Hoping it can be fixed quickly.

  • My old PowerPC G4 no longer sees any wireless networks

My old PowerPC G4 no longer sees any wireless networks. The PowerPC and my new iMac was powered off for a week. When I powered them on, the iMac found the usual wireless networks that are seen around here but the PowerPC did not see ANY! Even though they sit next to each other!! The G4 worked fine before and was connected to the internet.
The G4 has an AirPort card in it and IS enabled. Is the problem with the card (how do I verify?) or did something get turned off on the re-boot?
BTW the AirPort card does shows up in the system info and has firmware version 9.52 but states that "wireless network not available" under the Current Wireless Network.
    How do I fix this?
    Please Help!

As this is an old G4, I presume you have a PCI network card.
I had a similar problem on my son's old G4. After a lot of messing around thinking it was a software problem, I discovered that the antenna was damaged and did not make a good connection to the card. I could get it to work intermittently by pushing it on. The solution was to buy a new card.
So try manipulating the antenna connection at the back of your mac to see if you can get a signal.

  • No longer detetects any wireless network

    Hi
My macbook was correctly connected to the Internet via my wireless network, and then it suddenly disconnected. It no longer detects any wireless networks (and there are quite a few usually!)
I tried to turn airport off & then back on, but no change.
I then tried to reboot my macbook, but no change either.
When it searches for wireless networks, it is very slow (sluggish).
I also booted on Windows 7 (dual boot), and it has *exactly the same* problem. Leads me to believe that it is a hardware problem, more than a software one..
The only recent change: I moved from the UK to France few days ago => new ISP & new router (but I doubt this could be the source...)
Is there anything I can do?
    Replace the wireless card?
    Thanks

By the sounds of it, I've been having exactly the same problem. I will be using my macbook and suddenly the airport will drop out for no reason. Sometimes I can reconnect but often I'll have to try a dozen times or more, with the connection timing out each time. I've actually set up two differently named wireless networks at home to solve this - for a while, if one dropped out, I could reconnect to the other one. Even this has now stopped working. I've tried flicking airport on and off, restarting the airport base stations, I even have one of the wireless networks configured as WDS sending to an airport base station within a couple of metres of where I normally use my machine. Nothing works. I've tried deleting ~/library/preferences com.apple.internetconfig.plist and com.appleinternetconfigpriv.plist and rebooting - for a few times that would fix it, but not any more.
The strangest thing, though, is that if I switch user accounts, I can access the wireless networks again no problem.
It's almost like there's something that needs flushing in the user account's wireless settings - a buffer, or a cache, or something. It'll generally only happen once I've been using the machine for a sustained period of time.
I'm running 10.5.8 with Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0×168C, 0×86) Wireless Card Firmware Version: 1.4.16.2 if that's of any help to anyone.

  • Can no longer see any wireless networks

    Hello,
I've had my macbook for just under a year now and have never had a problem seeing/connecting to any wireless networks in the past. However, over the past few days I have had issues connecting to my router. It keeps kicking me off every 15 or 20 minutes and when I try to reconnect it often gives me a timeout error. I have reset the router countless times and have even reset it to factory settings and triple checked that the firmware is up-to-date. I felt it was a router issue until this morning; it kicked me off so I reset my router and turned my airport off&on but now I cannot even see the network nor the other 10 (or so) networks that are typically viable. Since I cannot even see the wireless networks across the block anymore I seems like this has to be a computer issue (or at least the computer has to be involved to some degree).
I've tried to make an appointment at the genius bar but they are booked solid, as in they don't have any available appointments available at any time, even days in the future. Has anyone seen this problem before? Is my wireless card is on the fritz? Does anyone know of any potential software issues that could cause this?
    Thanks in advance.

You can skip the Genius Bar and just call AppleCare directly.
    However, a couple of suggestions:
    • create a new location in your Network preferences; does the problem persist?
    • create a new user and log in to that account; does the problem persist?
This one's more extreme: Do an Archive and Install, which will completely reinstall the system but preserve user accounts and data:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1545
If these don't help, then it may well be hardware.
    Good luck!

  • HP 6840 no longer sees the wireless network.

I recently updated the firmware on my Airport Extreme and now my HP 6840 wireless printer nolonger sees the network. I have run and rerun setup, rebooted everything even tried using and older MAC to run the obsolete setup software to no avail. Printer works when plugged in to the ethernet, Airport works but the the printer will nolonger funstion wirelessly.
HP said it was obsolete, Apple said it was an HP firmware issue and I am frustrated.... Any suggestions?
    msm

I did have a very long discussion with HP Support but this printer is no longer supported by their phone support. The tech gave me a lot of ideas but none worked. I have determined that one of two things has happened:
    1. The recent firmware upgrade to the Airport Extreme has caused the problem, which you think could be resolved with a new driver, but nothing Apple or HP supplies with work, or
    2. The radio itself has failed. This I doubt, but every attempt to re-enable it does not work.
I have the printer plugged into the router and it is working but the location is not optimum for our home. No worries, as I mentioned before, I have ordered an inexpensive wireless printer server and should have it back in line by this afternoon and back in my home office where it belongs.
    Thanks for the converstaion!

  • Cannot see any Wireless networks

After installing the latest security update for 10.3.9, I can no longer see any wireless networks. I have tried reseating my airport card along with unpluging the antenna with no luck. I have also repaired permissions and trashed the Network Interface preference file, again nada. Another suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have a relatively new Airport Express base station at home and I have also tried testing the connection at several wireless hotspots.

I had the same problem and that's why I ventured here for the first time after an hour's battle this morning.
My solution: restart the computer. Just when the menu has gone out of sight, you get the Keychain pop-up box informing you that the airport application has been changed and whether you wish to allow Keychain access to this new version as well. Here's the tricky part. You must react within 1 (one) second to the pop-up screen and click the "always allow"-button. Once the computer has rebooted, you should have access to your Airport network once more.
Clunky? Yes. With me, the problem was even more bizarre. I could see my trusted network in the Airport drop-down menu but even if the computer seemed to connect to it, I couldn't get an IP. Sometimes the whole upper right corner icon bar would freeze if I tried connecting.
Puzzling? You bet. I'm rather perplexed as to why I couldn't just solve this problem by removing and re-adding the Airport Keychain entry with the new version. I can only conclude: thank you, Apple, for making patches that work.
Experienced people: how do I relay my bug report to Apple?

  • No longer able to connect and use internet on any wireless network after upgrading to iOS 6

Everything worked great for the first few hours.  But now whenever I connect to ANY wireless network on my iPad, it connects fine.. When I do anything that involves internet, the wifi logo goes away, and a screen pops up (as if you're using a hotel wireless network) and says "apple - page not found" at the top, and is an apple.com page.  Even though there is no wireless symbol in the upper left corner, I can go to all of the links and everything, but outside of this one window the internet no longer works.
I have NEVER seen anything like this before.
I didn't do anything abnormal that would have caused this.
    Thank you.

Since upgrading my iPhone5 to the newest iOS (6.1.2) I can longer connect to WiFi. It sees the wireless network but will not connect.. Other devices in my home that weren't upgraded can connect just fine.

I had the same problem.  I did the reset networks on my iPhone & it did not work.  My husband read somewhere that changing the channel on the router to manual & selecting the highest available channel number might help.  I did that & it solved the problem.  I have not had the problem since.

  • My iPhone 5S no longer sees my wireless printer via bluetooth

my iPhone 5S no longer sees my wireless printer via bluetooth.  All it does in Settings is continually search for devices.  I've rebooted the phone, as well as the printer.  I even sat next to the printer with no luck.  It did find the printer when I initially set it up.

Did this work for you in the past?
ios does not support bluetooth printers without extra software.
    Helper app -- /print n share
Print directly to the widest range of network or WiFi printers available in any app. Alternatively print via your computer to ALL printers including USB & Bluetooth printers. View read and display large PDF, Office & iWork files. Easily transfer & store files from the Cloud or your computer.

You need to buy the right printer.
The iPad uses a print technology called AirPrint. Airprint is a particular communication protocol that flows over WiFi.  So, having a WiiFi printer isn't sufficient. The printer needs to be of an Airprint variety of WiFi.

  • HP8500A all-in-one can no longer scan thru wireless network but prints fine.

HP8500A all-in-one can no longer scan thru wireless network but prints fine. Have used this device several times over past 2 years on different wireless networks (at home) but usually at some point I lose wireless scan function but maintain wireless Printing.  I used to be able to reload the software and resolve the issue but now in this "new network" cannot get wireless scanning to work.   Setup software; original software (CD) and current download as well as "Print/Scan Dr"  hangs-up at "network check"  for hours.  Compaq laptop, Dell Laptop, Cell phones and Roku work fine thru network.  Scanner works fine with USB to Laptops.

    Which model Epsons are they?
I'm assuming you're using Yosemite (OS X 10.10), and that the problem developed when you upgraded from a previous OS.
    (Your profile says 10.6.7 BTW).
Maybe the scanning function is not compatible with Yosemite.
You could try a few things:
    reset your wifi system:
power down everything: modem, router, computer, printer/scanners.
    wait a minute.
power them all up again, in that order: modem, router, computer, printers. Let each power up completely before going on to the next.
try a factor reset on your printer/scanner (if there is such a function). You'll have to check your manual for how. If you do that you'll have to enter the wifi password in your printer/scanner, assuming you have security on your network.
uninstall any printer manufacturer "utilities" that are on your Mac, and try Image Capture again.
If it is a compatible software issue, you could try VueScan, but I've never needed to use it.

  • Ipad2 is no longer detecting ANY wifi networks.

Hi, my 9 month old ipad 2 no longer detects ANY wifi networks. Was always logged on to our own home router and in settings was always able to 'see' neighbours wifi - now nothing shows. Is this a hardware problem?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • N800 no longer detecting any wireless access point

The device is working fine couple days ago, then today when I turn it on, the "connection manager" can no longer see any wireless access point. Not only my home network, also
my neighbor's wlan. My laptop can detect 10 networks
around my house. I try upgrad my os to the latest version and it is still not working. Is anyone has similar experience ? Is it a hardware problem ? Any advice will be
    welcome.

It happened to my N800 too just a couple of days ago after I installed a number of applications. I have already removed those applications but the N800 still would not detect the access points that it usually detects with no problem.
It could not detect the WLAN inside our house even if the N800 was physically sitting on top of the router. It would intermittently detect my neighbor's WLAN (the one which I usually use) but it would not log on to it.
I tried removing the battery hoping to reset it but nothing changed.
It also would not connect to my PC via USB. The computer could not detect it. This one happened even before I installed those applications.

  • Satellite L300-17L - don't see any wireless networks detected

    Hello all,
I just bought a Satellite L300 - 17L. All drivers seem to work except for the wireless card.
First, I installed the driver pointed by this site but I discovered that the card is actually an Intel Pro 3945 card, not Realtek as specified in the driver section.
Now I installed the driver for the INTEL PRO 3945ABG, version 11.5.1.15 and also the PRO Set utility, and I don't see any wireless networks detected.
I have a colleague that sees many networks using the same adapter but on a other Laptop.
I also tested the switch on the Laptop and it is on.
Did you experience this kind of problems on your system ? Please help me because I am really sad because of this issue.
    Thanks & Best regards
    Valentin

    Hi
As far as I know this notebook was equipped with the Intel 11a/b/g WLan card.
You should firstly check if the WLan router and the WLan card use the same WLan standard.
In the WLan card properties (in device manger) you could check this settings choosing Advanced tab.
I would also recommend checking if the WLan was enabled properly
    Bye

  • Apple TV 1st Gen can no longer connect to wireless networks

My Apple TV (1st Gen) has recently lost the ability to connect to either of our wireless networks at home.  I rean the diagnostics at the reset screen and the Apple TV says it is performing normally.  In the settings, whenever I attempt to connect to a wireless network, I am now only offered "Other..." as a choice. Proceeding to the next screen, I enter the name of the network closest to the Apple TV -- an Airport Extreme set up for 5 GHz that this Apple TV connected with daily up until 2 days ago.  The Airport base station is perfoming normally, as my MacBook Pro can see it and establish a network connection without any difficulty.  The issue is limited to the Apple TV.  I did a Factory Restore, and now when I go to Wireless Network > "Other..." > Enter the name of the wireless network"  the resuit is always the same, and error message stating: "There was a problem connecting to the network. Check your settings and try again. (-4)".
This message comes up almost immediately, without requesting a WiFi password -- suggesting to me that this Apple TV has lost the ability to connect to ANY wireless network due to a hardware failure.
Q: Has anyone else in the Support Community had a similar experience with their 1st Gen Apple TV, and if so, did you find a solution to it?
Note: When I first noticed the connction to this Apple TV had gone stale (greyed out in the iTunes Airplay Speakers list), and prior to doing the Factory Restore, I could play back iTunes content stored on the hard drive, but could not connect to the local wireless networks.  I noticed that the Apple TV was running very hot -- it has alwasy run pretty hot to the touch.
If this Apple TV has died, I will get a 3rd Gen Apple TV, but wiill then have to work through the HDMI to Composite video + Audio issues, as this Apple TV is connected to our older (non-HDMI) TV.

Follow-up:  Able to connect with ethernet cable, downloaded software updates, connected to iTunes, and synchec content.
Next, disconnected the ethernet cable.  ATV1 froze and was restarted using the Menu + ( - ) combo on the remote.  Re-ran diagnostics yeilds: Apple TV is working fine.
Restarted, then went to configure the Wirelss settings.   Apple TV once again does not show either of the two wireless networks.  Selecting "Other..." and entering the SSID yields the same immediate response:
"There was a problem connecting to the network. Check your settings and try again. (-4)"
No change on the wireless front :-(   Bummer.
Looks like an ethernet connection is the only option left to continue using this Apple TV 1st Gen.
Thanks for your help. -- Paul

  • Cannot detect any wireless networks on my HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 j120dx

    Hello,
My laptop won't pick up any wireless networks at all - I'm having what seems like a few different problems:
    1.  Because the laptop won't pick up any wireless networks, I can't of course connect to the internet without using my ethernet cable.
    2.  When I try to turn my adapter on using the F12 key, all it does is toggle airplane mode - which isn't going to help me connect to the internet.
    3.  When I go to 'Network' under PC Settings, I can toggle airplane mode but the bluetooth is greyed out and can't be toggled and it doesn't even give me an option to turn back on my wifi adapter.
    4.  When I went into the Network and Sharing Center to enable the adapter that way under 'Change Adapter Settings', I couldn't even see the adapter listed there.  All it showed was Ethernet and Hamachi because I use LogMeIn Hamachi on my computer.
By this point, I was like "Oh, great - the adapter might somehow not even be there even though it was last night," (I was online wirelessly the night before) so I went into the device manager and then expanded Network Adapters I only saw the same two Ethernet and LogMeIn adapters.
    5.  So next, I tried downloading the adapter - but the problem is, I have no idea what kind my laptop is supposed to have.  Going to the download drivers section in the support area of the hp website, I found many options and none of them seemed to work.  I also tried redownloading the Wireless Button Driver (whatever that's called) and that didn't work.
    5.  I even tried doing a system restore to a point of about a week ago - this also did not solve my problem because the same things were happening and the same things I tried above still are not solving the problem either.
I know countless other people have had the same problem(s) mentioned above (simple Google search told me that) with their HP ENVY Notebook PCs, so I'm hoping that someone can help me and finally solve this problem for me.
The model  is HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 j120dx, the model number is E8A11UA#ABA, and my computer is running Windows 8.1 64-bit.
    On another note, here's the names of the only 2 adapters that show up in my device manager list (one is for LogMeIn Hamachi);
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Ethernet)
LogMeIn Hamachi Virtual Ethernet Adapter (Hamachi)
The wireless was working fine before with Hamachi installed, so I doubt that has any significance.
If there's any other information you need that I did not mention above, feel free to ask me.  I look forward to someone replying as soon as possible and being able to find a solution to this problem for me!
EDIT: One other thing I should mention is that the wifi in my location is working fine for every other device I try (phone, gaming console, other people's laptops/desktops, etc.

    Hello dginther,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand wireless is not working properly. If the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore
Next, please try the steps in this HP document: Troubleshooting Your Wireless Network and Internet Connection (Windows 8)
These steps should be enough to resolve the issue. If not, you can try a manual reinstall of the driver:
    1. Go into Device Manager, then Network adapters.
    2. Right-click on the wireless driver, and select "Uninstall".
    3. Restart the computer. This will force the driver to reinstall itself.
Please let me know the results of your troubleshooting. Thanks!
