?ipod no longer turns off by pressing and holding play/pause on click whee
ipod had turned off before, but now cannot turn it off. It continues to stay on. I've tried to use hold switch to see if that helps, but ipod still won't turn off, and it uses up my battery. hold play/pause button doesn't seem to work?
Did you try resetting it? I had the same problem with my 30gb video and it worked.

TS1425 my ipod won't turn off. I can still play/pause, but cannot turn it off
My ipod will not turn off. It still responds to the play/pause, but will not turn off
There is no way to actually turn the iPod off. Holding the Play/Pause button actually just puts the iPod to sleep. And after so many hours from that point, it goes into a deeper sleep thus conserving battery life.

My ipad has sort of frozen but will not turn off by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button
my daughters i pad has sort of frozen. She can lock it and unlock it. All it is showing is her wallpaper. All her apps have disappeared.
We cannot restart it as per the apple support troubleshooting assistant as it will not turn off. HelpHave you tried to hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds or so, until you see a silver apple. See if you can get it to reboot.

Thanks
BrianHi mende1,

My Ipod can't turn off anymore
So yeah, i've had my ipod for about 8 months now, working great and all, but in the last 2 days it just can't seem to turn off. I'm holding the pause/play button like I did many times in the past, and now it's not working. Has this happened to anybody before? Please help.
ThanksI have the same problem, the iPod just won't quite, and it is not playing, if I have the lock on and switch it off, it still shows that it is locked, i usually have to wait till the battery dies and the unit shuts itself off. Any suggestions. 30gig vid iPod - thnks

i am having major issues! this does not work i dont understand..does the ipod have to be off while pressing the buttons if so how is it possible if it is connected to the computer either way it turns on..and when i tried these steps while the ipod was on it still doesnt work it just asks me “slide to power off” please someone help me i just cant seem to put my ipod in DFU mode
To get the iPod in recovery mode and DFU mode you first have to turn the iPod off.
Just what is the problem you are tying to resolve?
Sometimes you have to let the battery fully drain if you can't turn the iPod off. After charging for at least hour try again. -
My iPod shows a white screen and it doesn't turn off by pressing the right upper button. How do i proceed?

My ipod touch 4g turned off and when i try to turn it on it says its not charged. so i charge it and the apple screen comes up but stays frozen like that for a really long time, and then it just goes back to the "needs to be charged" screen. please help!
- First try resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Next connect to a computer and restore the iPod if theiPod appears in iTunes.
- Next see if placing he iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore -
My iPod is acting a little weird lately. It completely turns of all by itself and won't turn on back again. It turns on only when I connect it to the PC. I taught it was the problem with the battery but, it happens even when it is fully charged. I was watching some videos right after I had it fully charged and all of a sudden it turned off. I tried turning it on but, it didn't work and I connected to my PC, the apple logo showed up slowly and started working as usual. Please help me to sort this out.
Try a hard reset the next time this happens to see if that helps. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, you may want to consider restoring your iPod via iTunes to rule out software corruption.

IPod won't turn off and other topics
Hello,
Just bought a beautiful new MacBook Pro, but need some help troubleshooting:
1. When I first plugged my iPod (slim, black, 30GB) into the USB, my music could not be found. I ejected it, waited, and plugged it in again. This time my computer won't recognize my iPod at all, and my iPod bears the sign 'do not disconnect' and cannot be turned off. I did disconnect it eventually when I saw there was a problem, but am stuck on how to reboot my iPod now and try again. Any suggestions?
2. If and when I do get this problem resolved, how can I transfer the music from my iPod to my empty iTunes library? Why isn't my music showing up, if it's still on the iPod?
3. Is there an easy way to manually transfer photos from my iPod to iPhoto without erasing or overriding anything either one already contains?
4. Unrelated to iPods: Entourage is having a **** of a time importing my emails from hotmail. It keeps crashing, is creating duplicate files, and is generally speaking, making a mess. Any word of advice on how to use Entourage in conjunction with a hotmail account? Also, if I send and receive mail from Entourage will I still be able to see the same emails from a remote location in hotmail, or does one replace the other?
Thanks so much for any advice! Your help is greatly appreciated! For 1) You may need to reset it. Put the hold switch to the OFF/White position. Now toggle it ON/orange then back off again. Then press and hold both the MENU and center buttons on the iPod and hold them for a good 15 seconds or so. Your iPod should reboot starting with the Apple Logo screen.
If it doesn't work the first time, give it a second or third go. Sometimes it takes a few/several tries.
For 2) ...

So I have an iPad with the smart cover, and it's usually supposed to turn on and off the iPad when u open it and close it, but it's not turning on for me. Nor is it turning off without pressing the button. What is the meaning of this?what caused it to be this way? Is there someway that I could fix it?
Wait a sec did this just start?
You set up the smart cover function in settings (you did that, right?) so, if you did that and it's failed you make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar now. -
when I try to print, I get this error message "Communications Failure: The computer is no longer able to communicate with your printer. " followed by intruictions to turn off the printer and check connections etc. I am using an HP Officejet 6500 709e, connecter wirelessly
I'm using a mac (OS X - snow leopord) and am printing over the network (wirelessly).
HP Photosmart Premium Fax All in One - C410a
I was only able to print one page and then both my printer and my computer would display an error message about the printer's inability to print. Since then I've been able to resolve my specific problem.
I
1. uninstalled HP from my computer (checked to ensure that my printer was no longer visible in my printers and the HP Utility software was nowhere to be found),
2. grabbed the software/driver update from Aug, 2010,
3. installed the Aug, 2010 update, and my problems seem to have been fixed.
This is where I got my 2010 update from (obviously you should get the driver/software applicable to your OS and specific printer):

I have a shuffle. When I plug it into Itunes, it tells me that it has not been ejected properly, and it will not recognize the Ipod. I have turned off the computer, and tried this with another shuffle with the exact same results. Any ideas?
Do you remeber the exact (or close to it) wording of the error message?
Try manually placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then try to restore
Next try DFU mode.
