IPod no longer will play content or connect to iTunes!

Hi,
I just upgraded to iTunes 8.1 last night... I decided to do my wife a favor and get the latest version... big mistake.
OK, so i download and install 8.1, but it won't start up after the 8.1 is installed, keeps giving me an error 13014. I do some research and find that I might need to disconnect the iPod and restart the machine. Which I do. And iTunes comes back up, no error. Brilliant! or so I thought.
I never reattached the ipod, so my wife leaves for work and calls me MAD. What did you do to my iPod?! Um... nothing? well, nothing really... i just unmounted it and took it off the machine while i installed the new itunes.
OK, so she gets home, I look at the ipod it shows half of it's capacity is used, but if you go to music it says there isn't any...
Then I plug it in to the mac and BLEEP! itunes can't recognize this iPod, why don't you reset to #$*@ factory settings.
Do you have any idea how much trouble this is going to cause me?
I should add that this falls on the heals of some INSANELY ridiculous problems that i have been debugging with her itunes, ever since the genius (sarcasm) crap showed up in itunes her brand new iMac has been running iTunes like a 286. scrap that... like a TI pocket calc. It skips, it 'can't save library', it won't import some songs, it imports cd's at speed approaching never! I was all happy for her to have her first Mac, and now... i may never live it down. She revels in pointing out how messed up apple's licensing of the new ipod headphones is... she is turning into a hater.

This wound up being a hardware issue with the ipod.

  • My ipod touch 3g will not run or connect to itunes

My iPod shows the Apple logo when I reboot it, and then shows a connect to iTunes screen.  However, it is not recognized as a valid USB device by my PC.  I've got another iPod Touch that works just fine on the same computer.

try restarting it by holding down the home and hold button at the same time untill the screen goes black then press the home button untill the apple logo shows up (you will not loose any data)

  • HT201210 Tried to reset iPod Touch.  Will not go past Connect to iTunes screen.  Connection is being made because I can see my apps in iTunes.

In order to get rid of frozen screen, I did a reset from the utilities app.  Now I can not get past the "Connect to iTunes" screen.  I can see connection in iTunes and when I sync or restore, screen changes to "Connected to iTunes."  But when sync is over, I am still stuck on "Connect to iTunes" with no way to proceed.  I have tried different USB ports.  All updates are current. How do I get past this screen?

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

after updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod.  It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

    Try:
    - Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

  • HT1351 I have an Ipod classic which was the original device connected to Itunes.  I connected an Iphone 4S and can no longer see my Ipod classic.  How do I once again get it connected?

I have an Ipod classic which was the original device connected to Itunes.

The right way to consolidate your music is to copy it from one computer to another. You can copy music from an iPod classic though:

When the music is all in the same library, sync the Touch.
You will still need to authorize your computer to play purchased music. For that, use the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have to connect the iPod to the PC and sync it to get the songs in the device. You will only get your music in your iPod automatically if you have purchased your songs in the iTunes Store and Automatic Downloads are enabled in your iPod

  • 3G IPOD SHUTS DOWN ON "LOW POWER" AFTER CONNECTING TO ITUNES 7.0.2.16

My 3G Ipod will shutdown after briefly connecting to Itunes Ver 7.0.2.16. The Ipod displays a message saying that it is out of power. However, the display shows a full power meter before connecting to Itunes. I reboot Ipod and start playing songs and the power meter slowly begins to display a full power meter. I believe the Ipod has plenty of Power -- it has been charging all day. I am able to transfer songs to the Ipod for a short period before the Ipod shows low charge and then automatically shutsdown.
HP Pavilion a250n - Intel Pentium 4   Windows XP Pro

I typically charge the Ipod with my Altec Lansing Musical Docking station or my automobile FM transmitter. So the Ipod is already powered up when I connect it to my PC via a USB cable. But it shuts down and displays a low power alarm before it shuts down. So I only use USB to update -- and this has worked fine for many years. When I try to use the firewire connection, my PC bombs (blue screen of death error).
    Thanx for your comment.

  • How can I move movies from my computer to my iPad? They will play in quicktime but not iTunes

How can I move movies from my computer to my iPad? They will play with quicktime but not iTunes so I can't sync them

Th AVPlayerHD works well for playing other video types.  You can transfer the videos via USB in the app tab in iTunes on your computer.  When you open that tab when you have you iPad connected to the computer scroll down and you will see apps listed on the left and a blank on the right.  Click on the app and then click on the add button under the blank window on the right.  Then navigate to the video you want to play and it will transfer it to the iPad.  I have about 14 movies on mine using AVPlayerHD.  works very well.  Also have VLC player (before it was yanked from the app store).  Works about the same.
You can also get the app Air Video and stream the video to from your computer to the iPad, and even have Theo ad connected to the tv to watch on there.  I do that all the time with my iPhone.  Saves time with not having to sync movies all the time.
