IPod not 2 weeks old and it's already a paper weight

Just received the newest iPod as a gift not 2 weeks ago, and it's dead. Went to use it and it didn't respond - no power? Plugged it in to charge it and got a lit blank screen. No other response. Reset does nothing. Can't even "restore" since it's not recognized by windows or iTunes.
I've searched the forums, done everything possible to fix it myself to no avail. Here's my question - Send it away to be serviced by Apple or try and exchange it at Bestbuy (where it was purchased) for a new one????
Any thoughts/opinions would be great. Thanks!

Don't despair, most stores are more than happy to have you back as a repeat customer. With all the flack that Bestbuy has been receiving because of thier practices before Christmas, I believe they will replace it without questions. I bought a 4th generation Ipod two weeks before the video version came out and it decided to stop working. I was afriad to take it back because I thought they would believe I was scamming to get a new one. Although I was three days past the date they were more than happy to switch it for me. The store gets credit for each one returned, so it doesn matter to them

    If the damage is due to a manufacturing defect, they will unquestionably replace it.  If the damage was caused by misuse or mishandling, such as dropping, Apple is obliged to do nothing.  Your best bet is to go to the Genius bar at an Apple store and explain what happened, perhaps they will replace the iPod.  Also, If you bought your iPod with a credit card, check with your card company.  Some cards provide Purchase Protection insurance which will replace or repair any item lost, stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase.

    Hello! My Macbook is just one week old and I have already had problems with it shutting off due to " Mac OS X quitting" or something rather.     Had absolutely the same problem. I called applecare, made me restart PMU, did not do anything. It's likely that its also not because you are closing the lid too quickly, that was not the problem with mine. The problem persisted so someone suggested to do an archive and install. The problem was gone. However, it starting having the random shutdown problem. Went into an apple store, and they exchanged the heat sink. I would recommend getting it checked out as this problem ended being a signal of something worse. Click the Macintosh HD icon, then click the Library icon, then click Logs. If you see an icon saying Panic.log, then you probably have the same problem as me. Go to an apple store and show them this panic.log icon and click it. They will probably do the same thing they did to my computer.

    Your home button and power button are completely unresponsive, even when you attempt a hard reset? If so you will have to put into recovery mode and restore through itunes or possibly DFU if that does not work

    my ipod is 4g and only a few weeks old, and i dropped it a week after and got a tiny crack and it worked fine. then two weeks later(yesterday) it fell off of this planter and when i picked it up i expected if to be all cracked and shattered, but it was in great shape, then in the car i tried to use it, adn it was off. so i tried turning it on, resetting it, connecting it to power, and everything. it wont be detected in itunes either, so i dont know what happened. will they replace it since its only a few weeks old? and i looked at my service and support coverage and it said that the warranty is still active, and on the support-repair-pricing page in small print it reads:

    so willl they fix/replace it? pllease help asap

    I recently got a new Iphone (1 and half week ago) because my old one was broken after 1.5 years.
    So i'm glad that i got a new one, till i noticed i NEVER have any wi-fi and he doesn't find any wi-fi locations near me, not at home at school or at any other places.
    I don't know what's wrong, it might be the new IOS7, i got it the same time i got the new Iphone, so it might be that because i heard alot of wi-fi problems with the new IOS7.
    But it's just annoying that i got a new phone, and it already has problems after 1 week, it doesn't make me happy at all. I basicly can't do anything without my wi-fi.
    So are there any suggestions or idea's whats wrong?
    I've googled myself, and some say it's hardware issue, but this is a new iphone 1 and half week old and it already started on day 1 the wi-fi problems.
    So this shouldn't really be the case unless apple has given me a broken iphone, which would be pretty fcked up because i don't have any warranty anymore, and i'm not going to pay loads of euro's because they gave me a broken phone.

    What? All new iPhones come with a one year hardware warranty, minimum. Replacements, 90 days or the balance of original warranty. If you phone is a week old, make an appointment at any Apple store.

    Does the Caps lock still work, just not the LED?
    Or does the caps lock not work at all? You usually have to hold the caps button for 1-2 seconds.
    If the key is indeed faulty, then you should contact Apple, or go to an Apple Retail Store, or Service Provider to have the keyboard replaced

    Did you purchase the Mac new?
    You have 14 calendar days from the time your items are delivered to initiate a return as noted here.
    Even though you are past the 14 day limit, if it were me, I'd take the Mac back and explain what's going on. Your Mac should work out of the box.

I already had to go through contact-by-contact when I bought this phone and added contacts from my Blackberry and MS Outlook on the phone.  Many duplicated at that time and Apple said the only fix was to go through each one and decide to keep or delete.  I really don't want to do that again!

    I had this problem while I had iOS 5.1.1 installed for many months. Fortunately I only have about 150 contacts and only about half of them duplicated. I found that my problem was the way thing were set up in Outlook. I removed all of the duplicates and corrected everything in Outlook contacts (ignoring the address book) and have not had the problem since, Hope this helps.
