Ipod... not as organized and trustworthy as u think

Is it possible for Apple to actually pay attention to the products that they make. I advice all of you not to download the new version of itunes. It is not at all useful to you. I was trying to do all of the "updates" on my ipod. In return as a customer, all my music is erased. Some of that music is on my home computer, some of it I bought. I have to spend the amount of time which seemed endless to put music back on to it. Is is so hard for Apple to make it easier to use ipod. Why should i have to go through endless headaches to transfer music on my new computer. APPLE!!! Please pay attention to the products you are making. Thanks you I am one of many people who are extremly unsatisfied with your products. I would never again purchase anything from Apple!

Ummm, no offense but...
You probably hit "restore" instead of "update." Not to mention the fact that you could simply just drag the music all at once onto your iPod, or just choose auto-update and let the PC do it for you. If there is anything I can do to help solve your problems, just post back and I'll get on it.

Ipod not being read and freezing

When I plug my ipod into my computer, it goes to "do not disconnect" but not the flashing do not disconnect. Its frozen. My computer wont read it. So I unplug it and its frozen. i am having a similar problem with my 4g 20G
it freezes when i try to update. i thought maybe it was the latest version of itunes i recently installed but i reverted back to an old updater version and itunes 6 and while i was able to get 300 songs on the ipod without freezing, when i tried to put the rest of my library on there it freezes. i've even tried to put as little as 15 songs on at a time and that still freezes the ipod.

Ipod not syncing correctly and songs skipping on ipod but not itunes/wmp

My old ipod was having this same issue(so I presumed it was broken) and I wanted to get a new one as the old one was an 8 gig and didnt really have enough size for me so I bought a new 32 gig ipod. Unfortunately this new one is having the exact same problem and I cannot figure out why. I've tried uninstalling itunes and all the other apple programs and reinstalled them all and I've tried converting the songs to AAC but these have had no effect.
The songs play perfectly in both itunes and windows media player it's just when they transfer over to the ipod the problems start. Usually what happens is the song plays for xx seconds then the sound stops but the song continues playing on the ipod if I leave it alone the ipod skips to the next song but if I force it to speed up eventually the song kicks in again but at a different point. Other times the song will play out of sequence and will sound completely disjointed.
Another problem that keeps cropping is when trying to sync the ipod it will get about half way and randomly cut out on one song telling me it's corrupt but it's always a different song and will happily skip over previous songs that caused a problem when I run it again.
I would import all the music again but I don't have access to the CDs as I am out of the country for a year, I didn't buy any of the songs through itunes so can't re-download them either.
I am running vista 64 bit but I used the 64 bit installer so I'm not sure if that would really cause any problems or not and yes I made sure the ipod is up to date and I have tried resetting it numerous times.

It's hard to say without a lot more information; Here's a sample of things that would need to be answered in order to really determine the cause:
*Age of the computer and/or hard drive
*What application(s) are installed
What updates occurred or new applications were installed before the issues started popping up
*Whether files/folders have been deleted
About the only one that really matters for you now is the age of your hard drive. Most hard drives last for 3~5 years, and the hard drives on the newest iBooks (from 2005) would be nearing that 4-year mark. If you've never had your hard drive replaced, there is the possibility that the hard drive is failing. Hard drive failures can result in software corruption--which would be the issues you're seeing.
What you want to do from now on is make sure you have all your important data backed up (and all installation CDs/DVDs accounted for, just in case) and monitor the machine. If the odd behaviors return, we may have to do more troubleshooting.

IPod not turning on and not being recognized by PC

I have got a 2nd gen iPod nano 2gb, and have had it just over 2 weeks. I have used already and it had music on it. I attempt to use it in the morning and it wouldnt turn on. i connected it to my PC (Windows XP Pro) and it wouldnt recognize it. I haven't used iTunes as it refused to luanch on my PC, instead i have used realplayer. I have tried connecting it to every USB pot on my PC and it didn't recognize on any. I have attempted to restore it however it hasnt worked. Any ideas anyone?

If you have never used iTunes then I am not sure how you have tried to restore the iPod since you must use iTunes to restore. You need to try and get iTunes to work on your PC so that you can do a restore or if anyone that you know has iTunes 7 on their computer you can try and use theirs to do a restore.

Ipod not updating! -And no error comes up, so i dont know the problem

I can't put songs on my ipod, nor can I delete them. I've had the ipod for a year now, and i'm using the same method as i always have to put the songs on and to delete them... so i know how to do it and everything.
But this past few weeks i can't delete nor put songs on my ipod. Why is this?
I've observed that when I do delete them, the name still remains on my ipod. However when I press the track to play, it shows theh name and details on the screen and then without playing a second of it, it skips to the next track.
After playing around with itunes and my computer for a while trying to fix the problem, I got a warning message that said "ipod could not be updated, unkown error, error (-53)". Does anyone know what this (-53) might mean? it might help me on the right track. And then again it might be irrelevant because i got it from playing around with the comp...
I really need help because my ipod is my favorite possession, im an audiophile, and I don't have enough money for repairs or a new ipod

Ipod not turning on and connecting

when i plug my ipod into the computer, a screen pop up and says "please wait. very low battery." i have tried turning it into disc mode but it won't let me. it also shows that my computer doesn't recognize it. i got a new battery for it so i know it can't be dead. please help

I have the same problem with my ipod. I let the charge get too low and it turned itself off. Then I connected it with my computer to let it charge and when I do it says low battery connect to power. I also connected it to another charger. None of them work. My computer does not recognize my ipod either. Help anyone?

my ipod touch stopped organizing the artists and albums in the music application since the last time i synced music... so when i go to music, artists, i see the artists not organized in letters.. it used to organize them, it used to put each artist in a letter section (the letter that the artist's name starts with)
and the search bar on the right side isnt showing up as well
and the same thing is happening with the albums section...
why is that happening and how ??

Ipod not recognized by windows and causes programs to crash

for some reason my ipod is acting weird. the other day it froze an so i restored it and it was working fine. now i connected it to my firewire (my ipod is a click wheel one) and when i hooked it up to my firewire to update on itunes, i noticed that like all of my windows that were open started to freeze including itunes. when i disconnected the ipod everything works fine. and now i cant restore the ipod because its not recognized by my computer. i put it in disk mode but when i hook it up to the firewire, it doesnt show on my computer and my programs freeze.

thanks for the info guys, ive never used my ipod on a mac (not that im aware of) and i would try using the usb but my computer does not have that 2.0 high speed usb thing so im forced to use the firewire. its weird cuz yesterday i uninstalled itunes and the ipod and when i installed everything, my computer recognized the ipod and it updated but now its doing the same thing again. dont nkow what the problem is? u guys think its the firewire?

5th Gen IPOD - Won't Sync and Not Seen by Windows

Tried the 5 R's. I have the IPOD in Disk Mode but whilst it will happily charge, it still is not seen by ITunes or Windows Explorer (though is visible inDisk Defragmenter). I have already un-installed and re-installed ITunes etc.
Prior to putting it into Disk Mode the IPOD still had my library on it and owuld happily work.

Ipod not recognized by itunes and i have the DND screen

Hi: I am a new user of discussions, I have a 20GB ipod with a connector dock, I plugged the ipod into the computer and immediately got the Do Not Disconnect message. My ipod does not show up in the itunes source list so I can not eject it. When I click on the ipod tab in the itunes preferences Iit says no ipod is connected. - After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod? If yes, restore the iPod from backup.

After reviewing your post, the iPod is not recognized in iTunes. A frustrating situation to be sure. You haven't mentioned what OS the computer you are using uses. You can choose what article to use either OS X or Windows from this quoted section.
