Ipod not being reconized by the 64 bit itunes.

For some reason I am having a problem with the itunes not reading my ipod touch..it keeps saying that I need to uninstall the itunes and reinstall the 64 bit..which I have done and still not reconzing my ipod...please help!!!

Similar issue. Sometimes iTunes does recognize an ipod is attached but has lost reference to it's name and refers to it as 'iPod'. A pop up appears indicating that 'iPod' is corrupted and should be restored. When I try to restore it I get an error indicating "The ipod 'iPod' could not be restored. And unknow error ocurred (1437).
Other times iTunes does not recognize it all. I have gone through all the trouble shooting steps for ipod nano 3rd generation.
The ipod is still functional but it it will not sync anymore.

    Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    And that did the trick.

  • Ipod not being recognized by comp or itunes.

its not being recognize and the prob is not the usb port itself(flashdrives, cameras, ect will work) the comp is a dell and when i do connect it just charges and stuff no actually activity with the comp

I may have found the problem - a corrupted piece of music.
Background: My wife's iPod had been giving me fits. Tried syncing it at home and also here on my work computer with the same results...the dreaded I/O error message. It was still under warranty so I sent back to Apple - they returned it citing no problems with the device. When I then tried to sync again same results.
With iTunes off and the iPod connected, I had to reformat the iPod using My Computer>right click Manage>then click on Disk Management. When the iPod shows up in the right hand screen, right click on it and then format. (This will delete everything on the device but if you cant read it what good is it anyway?) You will get a message that the format cannot be completed. Ignore this message. Disconnect the Ipod.
With the iPod disconnected, start iTunes. Break your library up into separate playlists like genre, artist, whatever, just so you have it broken up into smaller groups. When you sync later your going to want to sync one playlist at a time until you find the offending group. When finished, leave iTunes running then go ahead and connect your iPod. iTunes will tell you it has found an iPod in recovery mode. Go ahead and restore. When completed, your iPod should restart and be recognized by iTunes. If it does not, physically unplug it then replug it. Do not sync your entire library. Sync only one playlist - then check your iPod. Continue until you find the playlist upon which the I/O error rears its ugly head. Make note of which one that is...then start over with the whole process again.
This may not work for everyone and it sure is a **** of a lot of trouble. ABBA seems to be the culprit on this one and it is a legit mp3 rip of something we own.

  • Ipod not being reconized in ITunes ..Help

I have 2 iPod classics (120 and 160) that will not show up in iTunes, I have gone through all the steps that I have seen on Apples website and still nada. Any other ideas or suggestions? I'm beyond stumped at this point and becoming extremely discouraged with Apple products quickly.. HELP !!!!!!!
    Thanks !!!!!

Yes, I'm having the same problem. If I connect my iPod to my laptop while iTunes is open, the 'Do not disconnect' sign appears, the battery does not charge, and my iPod doesn't appear either in iTunes or on my desktop. Since it doesn't appear in either of these places, I have to ignore the 'do not disconnect' sign and disconnect anyway. If I then reset my iPod, quite iTunes and reconnect iPod to laptop, everything's fine - iTunes opens, and recognizes the iPod. I guess this isn't the end of the world, since I can simply avoid ever connecting my iPod to my laptop while iTunes is open, but is this normal?

  • Ipod not being recognized by the emac

My 20 GB photo/color ipod was not working, so it was suggested that the ipod get a new hard drive. After installing the new hard drive the ipod will not turn on and keeps returning to disk mode. When I plug it into the computer, it is still not showing up at all on itunes or my desktop. It only gives me the screen with a check mark that says OK to disconnect. What should i do to get the ipod to successfully turn on and be recognized by the computer? Do i just need a new battery?

  • IPOD NOT BEING RECONIZED OR BEING CHARGED

i have a ipod shuffle and i left it on overnight and then tried to charge it. before this it wasn't being reconized and now it won't show it or charge. HELP!!!!!

I'm not certain if you mean you can't find where to download it if you want to have it, or you can't find it to get rid of it, so I'll answer both:
If you wish to download it (which I do NOT recommend because of issues with spyware, try a program called Alcohol 120% instead) go to
    http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php
If you wish to get rid of it, it should be on your list of "Add or Remove Programs," if not, it isn't on your system

  • Malfunctioning iPod, not being recognized by the computer. Why?

Ok, yesterday I wanted to update my iPod so I plugged it in and I got an error message about my USB malfunctioning and then my ipod was frozen on "do not disconnect". I unfroze it and tried again. Same thing. Then I changed ports and same problem. I kept unfreezing and got rid of the songs I added thinking they might be messing it up. I plugged it in and I thought it was fine. When I checked it the next day when I wanted to use it all my songs were gone. I plugged it back in, restored the iPod settings and it still doesn't recognize it. Its telling me "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod '__ iPod'. Go to the summary tab in iPod preferences to restore settings it the factory settings." It won't let me restore, though because of an unknown error. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

This is all of the sudden; I plug my iPod into my computer and - nothing.
I tried starting and stopping it through My Computer, upgraded iTunes, unplugged and plugged and everything, toggled the Hold button and still nothing. All my iPod is doing is charging.
    Thanks

    I HAVE THE ANSWER!
If you go into your device manager, is there a little red x or yellow exclamation point next to the necessary drivers?
Right click and select Update Driver Software.
Click Browse My Computer and enter in C:\Windows\System32
Windows will find the iPod and so will iTunes!
    YAY for music and stuff!
