Ipod not bieng recognised by computer or i-tunes

I need some help please! my ipod was fine just a couple of days ago but just recently my ipod would not connect to itunes or my computer. Now all my ipod does is charge off the computer but nothing else. i have followed all the steps in re-installing, updating, restarting, etc; but NOTHING works! any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My mini just started working, I'm not sure how though. I had been tryin to reset it for a while, among many other things,(holding menu and select down for 6 to 10 seconds) but it was not working. I tried restoring, I don't think I did it and I had been trying to do updates for a while. The last thing I did was go to the "/support/ipod" site and stumbled into the software update site and followed the instructions as best I could. The I connected the ipod and waited for a few seconds, then I held held menu and select down and the menu came up! I was amazed! I hope this may help someone, I have got to go to sleep now.

I have followed all the steps of turning off Ipod and turning off computer..re installing Itunes and my computer and Itunes are still not recognising my Ipod. When I hook up my Ipod the "autoplay folder opens and then browses and then closes. The Itunes says no ipod connected and shows the number for my old Ipod ID. I went into disk managment and tried to change the Drive to I, but its showing it as a K removable drive and I isnt an option. Please Advise.

If you are unable to get the device into Disk Mode, it's likely that the iPod needs servicing. The Hard Drive is probably shot.

  • IPods not being recognised following Update to 8.1

Hi - I've recently updated my (new) Notebook laptop to Windows 8.1.
Since then, when I connect either my iPod or iPod Nano to the computer, neither device is recognised.  Although each will briefly light up and a sound is made to suggest connection, neither device is recognised by either iTunes or the computer itself.  Indeed, it appears that neither device even charges whilst connected.  This is the same regardless of which of the three USB ports I use.
Whilst I don't have a zip-key to test in the ports, I've tried connecting my Kindle and this works (and charges) as expected.
I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and I have also tried resetting both iPod devices...  How can I get my iPod devices to be recognised by, and connect to, the computer and iTunes?
    Many thanks,

  • My ipod not recognized by the computer or itunes?

Ok, the iPod works fine playing music and watching videos and everything else it is supposed to, and it charges fine. But when i plug it up my PC to sync new music, the screen on the iPod does like normal and goes to the gray and orangeish screen that says Connected, then immediately says Disconnecting iPod and shows the little progress bar as if you had ejected it. How can it do this on it's own before anything has recognized it?
I have done everything that the Support on here has said, the 5 r's and all that, and nothing. Checked device manager on my computer and it actually says that is is plugged up and recognized, but has a yellow exclamation point beside it. The properties of it says this error...
"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)"
These errors occurred two days again until now, i have made no recent updates on my computer or iPod to have damaged anything but these problems randomly occur. it's really odd and if someone could help me it would be great.

Have you carefully worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Help.. brand new Ipod 80gb not being recognised by Computer or itunes

Replaced a ipod mini that was stolen from my house with a brand new 80gb ipod. Plugged it into the same computer that had been used successfully with the mini and the ipod will not be seen by either the computer or itunes. It will charge through the usb post no problem but when you plug it in it originally came up with the windows new hardware wizard, as apple have for some misguided reason stopped supplying CD's, the wizard can not find the correct driver, and fails to install. When Itunes is running nothing appears. I have been through the 5 R's, or should I say 4 r's as the fifth rely's on itunes recognizing the ipod before you can restore, countless time, so please unless you are sure don't ask me to click the hold button on and off yet again.
Plugged the ipod into an old laptop with USB 1.0 ports and the ipod was recognized which would suggest it is my main comp's usb ports that are at fault, but as two previous ipod mini's worked without fault I find this hard to believe. I think if only I had the correct driver to install I could solve this problem easily. Can anyone send me the correct driver for an 80gb ipod.
It hopefully goes without saying that I have downloaded the latest itunes software and gone through all the post's on the this site. I thought I'd cracked it with the UBSSORT file post but it was not to be....to tell you the truth if it's this complicated I'd rather send it back and buy a sony mp3 or even an ipod nano. At my wits end so please help Obi one, your my only hope

  • Ipod nano not being recognised by computer, 5th gen

my ipod is not beng recognised by my laptop as my ipod will not turn on and is charged and is also not being recgonised by any other devices such as docking stations. It will not reset for me and have tried numerous links online, please help???!!!!

If the iPod isn't powering on and you are positive that you are using a working USB cable and plugging the iPod into a working USB port or wall adapter, it could be a sign of some hardware issue with the iPod such as a dead battery or damaged/faulty logic board.

  • IPOD Not being Recognised

After updating my Itunes software, my Ipod is now not recognised by ITunes!
I have been through all the suggestions, but to no avail!!!
On top of this I have lost all of my recordings on the Ipod, the only ones left are on the Itunes software on the computer, which doesnt communicate with Ipod!!
    ANY IDEAS!

Sorry to reply again.. I found this on another post - would you recommend trying it? (I just feel uneasy about deleting the bin file - but if you think it's okay)...
"The recent iTunes update seems to have left many users iTunes installation from correctly detecting and synchronizing with their iPods. This problem seems to occur when the iPodService files are not updated when iTunes is updated to version 5.
    Steps to resolve the problem:
    1) Click "Start" | "Run..." | type in "net stop ipodservice"
    | click "OK"
    2) Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\iPod\bin"
    3) Run the iTunesSetup.exe installer. It will probably prompt you to either "Repair" or "Remove" iTunes. Choose "Repair" and click on next or finish.
    Optional Step 4) Click "Start" | "Run..." | type in "C:\progra~1\iPod\bin\ipodservice.exe /service"
    | click "OK"
    Optional Step 5) Restart Computer
If these steps do no resolve the problem, please dont flame me=X
This is not a problem with Windows XP but with the iTunes installer=)"

  • Ipod not being recognised, but with a twist

    Hi,
My ipod nano 5th Gen is not being recognised on my computer. It is now being recognised by the computer itself sometimes, but not itunes. However, when I plug my ipod into my partners laptop, its fine. More to the point, when they plug their's into my laptop, it recognises them. To me, this suggests that both my laptop and my ipod, individually at least, are working.
I have been through the ipod support page, and gone through all the steps, and to no avail.
Final details. I'm Windows 8, and my itunes is totally up to date. I have re-installed iTunes, and have reset my ipod to factory settings on another computer. It still doesn't work, please help if you know anything about this!!
    Cheers,
    Ralf

I have the same issues. itunes 5.0.1.4 doesn't recognize my mini. ipod updater doesn't recognize my mini either. i have uninstalled itunes 5 and reinstalled 4.9, but it didn't work still. something in itunes 5 changed something in my system that reinstalling 4.9 doesn't fix it. updater just shows that i have no ipod connected. if i try to get updater to check for my ipod during the updater installatin, it just sits there and says "waiting for ipod". it's not my usb port because i can read and write to my ipod. i did the entire list of chores that apple suggests on the site including disabling all other functions and services, reinstalling the com port, uninstalling everything, reinstalling everything, getting windows install clean up, e v e r y t h i n g! nothing worked.
I then installed itunes 4.9 and updater 1.4 in my other laptop. i was able to update to firmware 1.4 using that computer. when i put the ipod into that computer w/ itunes 4.9, everything works fine. of course, it asks me if i want to link that laptop w/ my ipod. i said no, because i want to use my original laptop w/ the ipod.
anybody have a solution for this? it's like we all have the same symptoms and going to the same doctor and we end up having to diagnose ourselves. this is extremely annyoying and inefficient.
