IPod not connecting! HELP NEEDED BADLY!

I have 2G iPod nano and I also have the newest iTunes downloaded (7.0.2). However, iTunes cannot find the iPod, or the iPod is not showing up in iTunes where it should (under the device section).
A message does come up, it is this:
An iPod has been detected, but the iPod software is not installed. Please install the iPod software from the CD that came with your iPod or download the iPod software updater from www.apple.com/ipod/download
I have done this and all it does is bring me to a place where I can download iTunes, which I already have.

Also, I do not have a CD.

here's a bit here's what microsotft says: (paraphrased)
To resolve this problem, delete the UpperFilters registry value and the LowerFilters registry value. These values may cause access problems. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the UpperFilters registry value. This value is located in the following registry subkey:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325 11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    4. Locate and then click the LowerFilters registry value. This value is located in the following registry subkey:

  • IPOD NOT CONNECTING TO WIFI AFTER UPDATING TO IOS 8.1.3

I recently updated my ipod touch to ios 8.1.3. after which it stopped connecting to my wifi device saying password is incorrect. Needless to say password was correct and other devices were connecting fine. I restarted device, tried connecting it with other wifi devices (it didnt connect to other devices either) , i reset network setting , erased all contents and reset setting and finally restored ipod to factory setting using itunes but problem is still persisting.. Now I have an ipod without wifi which is pretty useless. Need your help in this regard

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Update time capsule, since ipod not connect wifi to time capsule

message ipod is : impossible de rejoindre le réseau RES_Didier

    Only my ipod cannot connect.
But, if i connect my ipod to an other wifi network it is ok.
That is only with my time capsule that I cannot connect wifi!!
Do you know why ? can you help me ? (sorry my english is not very good)
    Thanks
    Didier

Did you upgrade install Mavericks? I think this can lead to all kinds of issues.. clean install the OS is the only way.
Do a full factory reset of the TC..
Use all SMB names.. that is short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
I strongly recommend when you have trouble.. even different names for 2.4ghz and 5ghz. So you can keep track of where the issue is.
Also use ethernet.. if you have not got ethernet port, buy a Thunderbolt to ethernet (much the preferred) or USB to ethernet.. if thunderbolt is missing or used.
Open network utility on your computer and find the listing for the TC.
    ie scan via netstat.
Make sure you have ipv6 turned on to link local.. this is now essential.
Use the IP address if it is static rather than name.. and try it in full network isolation by ethernet.
So Go .. Connect to server.
    AFP://10.0.1.1 (at default IP)
The default password is public.. you will need to type in a password.
If it fails the TC could be faulty.
Use ping via the terminal to make sure the network is working.

  • IPod not connecting to PC... is it doomed?! =o(

Hi there, I'm really hoping someone can help me out here.
Over the last week, my 40Gb clickwheel iPod has become more and more problematic. It all started when I was copying my CD's to iTunes so I could get them onto my iPod.
Whilst copying CD's to iTunes (running in the background) I could use the PC pretty much unhindered - surf the net, use MS Office etc. When I tried to switch to the iTunes window it was taking up to a couple of minutes for it to appear and whilst waiting, nothing else could be done on the PC. It seemed to put everything into a queue behind the command to display the iTunes window. (If there WASN'T a CD being copied I could toggle between all windows easily, whether they were minimised or not).
This slow appearance of iTunes got worse and worse over a few days until the PC finally crashed in a big way and displayed a rather ominous sounding warning on a blue screen. At the time, I wasn't aware that you could reset the iPod with the 'Select' & 'Menu' buttons, so consequently the PC was switched off with the "Do Not Disconnect" message showing on the iPod. (oops!)
The next day the iPod was working as normal except for a few times when it played the first 20 or 30 secs of a song then skipped to the start of the next song and continued playing normally. The following day it did this even more.
Yesterday I connected my iPod to the PC but iTunes didn't open automatically as it normally does. When I tried to start iTunes manually by double clicking the icon, nothing happened until I reset the iPod. As soon as I did that, iTunes opened but the iPod failed to be recognised.
    A dialogue box appeared saying:
    iPOD NOT READABLE!
This iPod needs to be reformatted for use on your PC. Click on the Update button below to run the iPod Updater application that will allow you to reformat or restore your iPod.
After clicking Update, another box titled "iPod Updater 2004-08-06" then appeared with "Initializing..." for about 2 minutes and then it said "Can't mount iPod".
I've tried the 5 R's, except I can't do number 5 as the PC can't mount the iPod.
Now, the iPod won't play music at all. I can search through all my music that's on it and select whatever I want but it just sits at the start of the song with the Play icon showing but doing nothing.
I get the feeling that the first PC crash (and possibly my failure to reset the iPod before powering down) may be the route cause of all this. Is my iPod doomed? =o( What, if anything, can I do to sort out this mess? Can anyone advise me please?
    Many thanks.

  • Ipod not connecting, only charging. Afraid to pull it out.

This seems to be a common problem but I'm really stuck as to what I can do. I've connected my ipod but the computer isn't recognising it. On the screen, it simply says "Charging". I know that if I disconnect it now, my computer will crash which is something I don't want to happen. I've tried resetting it but it hasn't made a difference. How can I disconnect my ipod safely? Can I reset my ipod settings while connected to the mac? Will that help?

Just as an addendum to your question (I'm glad you got it all worked out). I have two iPods, one connects via firewire (the older one) and one by USB (newer).
The newer one, if I connect by firewire cable, just charges, but iTunes doesn't recognize it. Took me forever to figure out that the newer pods need that USB (don't ask me why - firewire seems just fine to me).
Not sure it's relevant, but maybe helpful to somebody in a tangential way.

  • 30GB 5.5 iPod, Not Connecting

My iPod suddenly stopped connecting, its battery charging is completely drained now. Connected to front and back usb ports on this computer, front and backs on another desktop, side ports on a laptop, and using my FMradio/car charger. help?

Peeps .... had the same prom but my laptop is a Toshiba. The underlying problem here is apple trying to irritate the living daylights out of windows os owners to drive them to buy mac ... hhhhhmmmm, conspiracy!
It has something to do with the USB operation on our systems despite the fact that it's more than likely a 2.0 USB which is apart of the requirements for getting the ipod to work ... told you, conspiracy!!
So ... try this and keep your fingers crossed It worked for me.
    http:www.apple.com/support
right hand corner - in the search field type in DISK WRITE ERROR.
the first document that you will see will read - ipod not recognized correctly on Toshiba Laptop ....
print that out and follow directions to the T. basically you need to disable your USB port. (why? i don't know cause we are using a 2.0 usb?!)
once you do that you can get your ipod to work BUT you will need to enable it back once your ipod is updated. IT'S SIMPLE ... trust me ... just follow the directions and you life will be ALOT easier. I've been stuggling for DAYS trying to get it to work and now I'm one happy CAMPER. In fact, I'm listening to my toy right now ... LOVE IT!
the only thing that freaked me out is everything takes a while so don't expect things to happen immediately, just know that it's working and updating takes some time.
i hope this helps you ... let me know.
    ALOHA

  • Ipod not connecting again, apple please read this.

First let me state that I made posts awhile back about my Ipod touch not being able to be recognized by itunes at all and just as a camera by windows. Now every single guide did nothing to help and the FEW people that posted had posted things I already did that did not help.
HOWEVER the version of Itunes that was prior to the one I just downloaded connected PERFECTLY with no issues.
But I just updates and wouldnt you know it, the connection problem is BACK. Apple please read this, the last version of Itunes had something different with how it connected to the Ipod...PLEASE bring that back, its so inconvenient not being able to connect to my own Ipod
If someone wants to post a reply that might help feel free...but everything on this website and even a few others not posted here have not worked, this is mostly me praying that Apple reads it...that tiny difference on how it connected made a huge difference with my computer.

Thanks. I worked out a simpler method of turning off the internet access - just switching off my wireless modem. Either way, this works and with the PC not connected to the internet, all three Apple devies will sync.
Thinking about it now, I had a similar problem a few versions ago which I recognised because with Home Sharing on and connected to the internet iTunes was trying to find files from someone in another hotel room who also sharing the hotel's wireless network. My devices would not sync then either. This seemed to be resolved with subsequent itunes upgrades until now ....
Thanks for the advice. Let's hope Apple's next 'update' actually updates itunes so it can sync Apple devices whilst simultaneously connected to the internet (not a big ask really).

  • HP Photosmart C4795 Wireless Setup (Error Messege: Device Not Connected) Help?!?

I've had my HP Photosmart C4795 since 2009. I've haven't had any major issues with the printer until recently (probably time to get a new one).
This is my issue; the printer can't connect to my network. I'm able to print via USB from my Mac or PC. But I'd like to be able to print from any computer on my home network. In the past I've setup the printer to network with minor issue. I've had issues ever since the Mountain Lion Update (running version 10.8.3).
I've attempted to try once again to connect the printer to the network and I get an error message from my the HP Installer software (Device Not Connected). I've tried to troubleshoot the printer with no luck. These are solutions I've tried
    1) Uninstalled HP Installer Software/Setup via Mac  - I added the printer using the latested instructions provide from HP Supports section. I set up the printer but I can't it isn't showing up on any other computer.
    2) WPS - My router (supplied by Comcast) couldn't find the printer. I used routers login website to connect the printer but it didn't work.
    3) I've printed out the HP Network Configuration Page and manually add the printer's MAC Address to list on my router's devices list. I still can't connect wirelessly to the printer.
I've connected this printer wirelessly in the past before the Mountain Lion Update. Can anyone help?

First, on the printer go to Setup [Scan] > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
Then, set the printer up using WPS (pushbutton) - start it in the printer (Wireless menu) first, then the router within 2 minutes of starting it on the printer.
There is no HP software for 10.8, so you need to uninstall it.   Uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Why is my iPod not connecting to iTunes?

I have tried every USB port on my laptop and cannot seem to get my iPod to connect to iTunes so I can update the music on my idea. Any ideas?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

    - Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem
