IPod not picking up home network. Help!

I recently just got an iPod touch 32GB and it will not pick up my home network. It picks up any other network around where I live, but not the one I have set up. My laptop is set up to it too, but my iPod does not seem to find it.
I called Apple Support, and followed their instructions to resetting the network settings; unplugging router and plugging it back in; rebooting the ipod itself. Still nothing works.

does ur wifi router send out its name to devices
some router's can be set up to not show there name or send out its name to new devices not paired to it via its settings so they can c u wifi name check ur wifi router setting's
on u computer find ur router ip ads and enter it in to ur web ads it will be 191.xxx.x.x or 192.xxx.x.x  x will be ur internet ads given to by whoever gives ur internet eg bt/sky/vig media
Thank you Kevin, I will try this out.

  • My macbook doesnt not find my home network.

My macbook doesnt not find my home network. It finds the surrounding networks but not my home network. My ipod touch and iphone uses the home network and another computer in the house. My home network does not appear in the wifi drop list and when I search via network preferences it doesnt help even though i am using the correct password. Every once in a while it will find the network more thats the exception.

Turn the router and modem off then back on.
I don't have iStubmler downloaded but someone told me that it can do a better job of picking up network signals. So you might try downloading it, but I can't say that I know it will help.

  • Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi

Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.

I have a similar, but slightly different problem. My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G.  It will access other wifi signals.  My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook.  This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.
Help!  I reset network settings and rebooted the router (Apple), no avail

  • How do I share my iTunes library with my mother, but not on our home network?

How do I share my Itunes library with my mother, but not on our home network?

Another alternative is she can select tracks from your library copy and just add them to her library. Then she does not have to bother with switching between two libraries.

Yes, you can install and use the software on the 2nd machine so long your new company owns the license, the software is used but the same person who is using the primary installation (that is, you).

  • IPhone WiFi will not connect to home network.

iPhone will not connect to home network.  WiFi is on and correct password is entered.  iPhone error msg says incorrect password.  Reloaded network software and did not activate password but iPhone still shows network as locked.

Some people who experience issues connecting to or even seeing there Wireless network should follow these steps.
These steps are just a guideline and its not 100% that it will fix your issue.
Mainly, if the issue persists, its possible there is an issue with your iOS settings or a hardware failure within your iPhone or iPad, specifically the Wifi adapter.
You would want to follow these articles to do a reset & restore prior to saying it is a hardware issue.
    #1: Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
    #2: Restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You will need to access your Admin control panel for your router.
If you have an Airport Extreme BaseStation, you just need to open the Airport Admin Utility found in Applications > Utilities Folder.
Enter your credentials and you will have access to the settings from there.
For a PC: Do NOT use the CD that came with your router. That is used for people who do not know how to setup a router properly and these settings will not be available for you in most cases.
If you are using anything other than an Airport BaseStation:
    Open a web browser:
    In the address bar, type:
192.168.1.1 (Mainly used for Asus, Linksys, etc) or 192.168.0.1 (D-link,Belkin)
How to figure out what the IP address is to type in?
    Windows:
Hold down the windows key, then press R. This brings up the run box. In that box type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press enter. In the black box that pops up, type "ipconfig" (without quotes) then hit enter. Your default gateway is the IP address for your router. It will start with 192.168.....
Take that number and put it into the address bar in your browser and hit enter. It will then ask you for a user name and password. For linksys, it's admin for both. If you have another brand, just google "default password for ******" replacing the asterisks with the brand name of the router. Once you have entered the correct user name and password, you're there.
    Mac:
1.From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2.In System Preferences, from the View menu, select Network.
3.Select the appropriate port. For example, choose Ethernet for broadbandconnections, AirPort for wireless, or Internal Modem for dial-up.
4.Click Advanced... , and in the sheet that opens, click the TCP/IP tab.
The number next to "Router:" is your default gateway.
Once you get into your admin panel do these setting changes.
1.On the router change the channel for the 2.4mhz band to channel 1, 6, or 11 (recommended), rather than auto.
2.Also set that channel width to 20hz only, rather than 20hz or 40hz (Auto)
3.Make sure Security is set to WPA/WPA2-Personal. Anything else will cause issues. (of course, make sure you know your password for security)
4.Make sure to Apply/Save these settings. Sometimes the wireless connectivity will go out during this change and will come back on within 15-30 seconds.
5.On the iPhone/iPad go to Settings > Wi fi > click the blue arrow beside the network > Select Forget network
6.Go to Settings > general > reset > reset network settings
7.Power the phone off and on. Connect again

  • IPod touch not working with home network?

I know this question has been brought up dozens of times before, but I couldn't find a working solution in any other posts so allow me to explain my situation.
I got my touch a few months ago, it was working fine with my unsecured home network. Now, the ipod claims that is connected to my network, however it will not load webpages or anything else that might make it seem like it has an internet connection. When I go to Safari, the page attempts to load for what seems like forever and then comes up with the same message everytime claiming that the server has stopped responding or that the server cannot be found. It does, however, work perfectly with the free Wi-Fi hotspots that I connect with in businesses with no problems at all.
    I have tried:
    Resetting Network Settings
    Resetting iPod (factory restore)
    Resetting my router
Renewing the Lease on my iPod network connection
Turning the iPod's Wi-Fi on and off
Turning the iPod off and back on
Changing the DNS number to (4.2.2.2,4.2.2.3.)
I'm not sure if this is significant, but when I am "connected" to my network according to my iPod, it says I have full signal. When I am disconnected and my default network is just on the list of networks, it says that there are only two bars of signal strength.
Please help, I don't know what is wrong with this thing.

Have you updated your router firmware lately? If not, please do so.
DNS is usually provided by your ISP. I would use that unless your other devices can't reach the network either. A good alternative is OpenDNS which you can find out about at opendns.com.
When you think you are connected, tap Settings > WiFi > then the little blue > next to your network name. What type of IP address are you seeing? If you see that your IP address starts with 164, then you really are not connecting to your network.
You might want to look at a couple of router settings. What is DHCP set to? (this issues your IP address) and What is MAC address filtering set to? (if this is on and your iPod MAC address has not been entered into the router table, you will not connect). DHCP should be on, MAC address filtering off. Additionally, look at what your default DNS is set to. Most routers have a box to check saying "Use ISP" for DNS.

  • App Store not loading on home network

    Hi,
I've had this issue the last few days, i've changed no settings on my home network (Virgin through Belkin N150 router) or on my iPhone 3G. It's that the App Store just stays on 'Loading...' screen without ever loading, but when i take off my Wi-Fi and use 3G the App Store loads no problem at all. Only today i've realised that its not only my phone, its my Dads iPhone 4, Brothers iPhone 3G and Sisters iPod Touch 8gb 3rd gen, its really strange.
Im pretty technologically minded, but with this i just have no idea what to do and how to fix it.
Can anybody help out, any ideas?
    Thanks

I've already tried turning on/off iphone and router, deleting network settings, airplane mode, renew lease option, without any luck, by the way.

  • Wireless printer not found on home network

    Help!!!
I've got an HP Photosmart B110 printer. It connects to my Thomson Gateway router ok and the test report that prints out shows everything as being ok.
When I log on to the router it shows that it can see the printer
I'm using both a PC and a laptop, which both have Windows 7. The PC is 32 bit, the laptop is 64 bit. They will print ok when the cable is plugged in but can't get either to work on wireless. I've tried downloading the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility and it can't find the printer on the network. I've tried giving the printer and static IP address and all the settings on the router seem to be ok and I've run out of ideas
Can any one suggest anything else to try?

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. There is good news and bad news!
I tried most of things posted; I changed the wifi channel to 11, I unistalled the HP software on my laptop, disconnected the dsl cable to the router and then reinstalled the HP software (with my Mcafee firewall disabled) and SUCCESS, the printer worked wirelessly!!
So then I did it all again on my PC and it also worked.
I tried restarting my laptop and printer still worked wirelessly
I tried turning off the printer and put it back on and again it still worked.
    That's the good news.
Printer, laptop and PC all switched over night, turned them on again today and surprise surprise I can't print wirelessly.
The printer wireless test report says that it is connected to the router. When I log onto the router (Thompson Gateway) it can see the printer but shows it as being inactive. Is this a printer fault? A router fault? I'v not bothered disabling the router firewall today as I can't see this making any difference but I'm running out of ideas
    Any other suggestions from anyone??!!

  • Ipod not picking up converted Dvd's

Hello, right now I purchased Super DVD to iPod Converter. I converted it and imported it into Itunes. Following that, I plug in my Ipod in which it updates. It seems to skip the dvd. I go to convert selection and it says it's already in the right format. I'm baffled as to what to do for my Ipod to pick it up. If anyone could help me out please, I would appreciate it greatly!

Connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferenes. Click the iPod tab. Click the videos tab under that. Make sure automatically update all videos is selected.
Note: Your preferences may look slightly different.
Or, is the Video set as a TV Show in iTunes?

  • Airport Admin Utility Not Picking up my Network

I am connected to my Airport, and using the Internet. However, neither Airport Admin Utility or Airport Setup Assistant picks up my network (when I scan for it).

    Hi,
it seems the original poster's OS is: 10.3.9. I think I have the same issue.
-> with my 1.67GHz powerbook G4, 10.3.9 - after upgrading the internal airport software to 4.2, I can no longer connect to old access points. This Apple help page worked with 4.1 - holding down the Control key while selecting the network. Now with 4.2 it does not work anymore.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107938
Daamn, why did I accept the upgrade?! now I cannot connect to any WLAN in the office anymore! How to downgrade the powerbook airport drivers to 4.1?
Guys, please check your Apps->Utilities->Console output. Are you getting this too?:
    "WirelessJoin unexpected status: 4".
I'm also haveing the same problem with my iBook G4. Is there anyway to downgrade it? Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

  • 2 Ipod touches sharing a home network? bc mine wont allow msgs to send!

I just recieved an ipod touch 8g as did my gf.  She had an old ipod nano so she was able to easily transfer her data and connect to her home network with her apple id.  I did not have an apple id until today.  when I connected to our internet it now says that her imessage is not connected.  however she can sent a msg to her brothers iphone and earlier we had used my ipod touch to facetime.  any clues how to work out the kinks and get my msgs. sending ???!

I'm not sure what you're asking. You can install OS X Server on your MBP, but I can't tell from your post what features of OS X Server you're looking to use.
Generally speaking, laptops are not the best platform for servers, but they will work. Some folks bristle when there is mention of a laptop server, some say go for it, and I would say it depends on what the server is needed to do. I've been running a website using a spare copy of 10.4 Server on a G3 iMac for several years - but that's a far cry from using a G3 iMac to really use the functions of OS X Server. If you're satisfied with your backups and file sharing capabilities, a dedicated server may be overkill, and added maintenance. If you want or need more functionality that your current setup provides, then a server is worth considering.
If you're not familiar with OS X Server, there will be a learning curve and possibly some frustration, and you'll want to back up the server as well which may add more work to keeping your network where you want it to be.
So the short answer is, what will the server do?

  • IPhone 4 will not find my home network

I bought an iPhone 4 two weeks ago and I still cannot get it to detect my wireless home network.
I use a Time Capsule as my router, which is plugged directly into my modem via ethernet.
My Macbook can find my network/TC fine, and has done since I bought it.
My wireless settings are 802.11n only (5GHz) with wireless security set to WPA2 Personal.
I tried changing my settings and found that the only one that worked at connecting my iPhone was 802.11n(802.11b/g compatible), but it caused serious problems.
The connection between my TC and Macbook was severely reduced, and it could not detect my TC in Airport Utility, so it would not run the Time Machine back-up, and I was unable to get access to the settings to change them back.
I had to do a full reset on my TC(power down, hold reset button in and power on again) about six times before I could get it all working properly again and get access to the settings.
If I try to manually search for my network on my iPhone, it still will not find it.
It will find other peoples networks, but not mine.
And my current settings are the only ones that work perfectly with my Macbook and Time Capsule.
    Any help?

My wireless settings are 802.11n only (5GHz) with wireless security set to WPA2 Personal.
    Therein lies your problem.
    Copied from this link.
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
    +Cellular and wireless+
    +UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)+
    +GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)+
    +*802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n _2.4GHz only_)*+
    +Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR wireless technology+
I also have a TC which supports simultaneous dual band. I have two bands or networks - one 5GHz for my MBP, Time Machine Backup, and Apple TV, and another set to 2.4 GHz for my iPhone. The name for one of the networks includes 5GHz with the name and the other doesn't, which is the one I connect my iPhone with.
