IPod not Recognised by Latest Update in Windows 8.1/64 bit .

Howdy, I am using Windows 8.1 / 64 bit, have updated the iTunes to the most recent verision (11.1)  My computer says it ""doesn't recognise the iPod "" When I re-instal  iTunes, it still says the same. I go to the left hand side to authorise the iPod and it says ""You have already authorised this iPod"" When I go to ""more"" it rambles on about goinmg to the Right Hand side and something about a  "" Charm Bar  "" Then it says type Services in, I type Servises in and up comes a rambling diatribe of nonsense and things that are not mentioned in the Aplle help. I am supposed to ""choose services below search field"" ????.. Ther is NO ""Choose Services""
Can anyone advise as the help page is seriously out dated but hey that's APPLE for you. So from having a perfectly good  iPod that is about 5 years old and having paid for 64 downloads and updating to the latrest version, I can't even charge the iPod let alone play the music i have paid for. The iPod isn't recognised, the APPLE help is out of date and very vague and doesn't work. 14 Feb 2014 .

Hello @vmsbobj ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand after installing Windows 8.1 you are no longer able to use the brightness, hibernate or sleep mode options.
I cannot seem to find the exact model you've listed. The drivers found here should do the trick for you though: HP 15-g030au Notebook PC Drivers. What you're looking for is the HP System Event Utility software found in the Software - Solutions section.
If you can respond with the product number for the notebook I may be able to give a better answer. For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Let me know if this utility resolves the issue.
Please click the "Kudos, Thumbs Up" at the bottom of this post if you want to say "Thanks" for helping!
Please click "Accept as Solution" if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • Ipod not recognised by finder, updater or itunes

whilst updating my ipod (older version 30gb with dock) with my mac last night (power mac G5) - there was a problem which meant that i had to restart the mac. now the mac doesn't recognise the ipod (not seen in finder or itunes) and i can't restore it, because updater doesn't see it either. the ipod software doesn't see the music either, although it must still be there as the "about" section in settings tells me that there is still alot of usage of the memory. any help with this would be gratefully received.

    Have you been through these?

  • IPod not recognised by windows iTunes

iPod not recognised by windows 8 computer.
After I recently updated iTunes I plugged my iPod Touch 4th Gen into my windows 8 desktop.
It was not recognised as an iPod by iTunes, only as a storage device in MS Windows.
After much searching I identified the problem was there was no apple mobile device USB driver installed.
    I searched for … devmgmt.msc
    Which opened the Device Manager
In Device Manager, under Portable devices, the Apple iPod should have been listed. It wasn’t.
So I Right Clicked on ‘Apple iPod’ and left clicked on ‘Update Driver Software’.
Then ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.
Browsed to this location … Windows (C) / Program files / Common Files / Apple / Mobile Device Support / Drivers /
    And then clicked on ‘usbaapl64’
It installed the Apple mobile device USB Driver, as it should have done already, when I recently updated iTunes.
Could someone check the above to see if I have described the problem and the solution correctly.
    Thanks. Chris KV

OK, update to try to provide a clearer description of the problem and solution that worked for me.
    Problem.
After I recently updated iTunes I plugged my iPod Touch 4th Gen into my windows 8 desktop. It was not recognised as an iPod by iTunes, only as a storage device in MS Windows. After much searching I identified that there was no Apple Mobile Device USB driver installed. Without the driver Windows did not recognise the Apple iPod when connected via USB.
    Solution.
I needed to use the Windows Device Manager, so I searched for … devmgmt.msc (You need to include the .msc) and clicked on it, which opened the Device Manager in a new window.
In Device Manager, under Portable devices, the Apple iPod should have been listed. It wasn’t.
So I Right Clicked on: ‘Apple iPod’ and left clicked on: ‘Update Driver Software’.
Then clicked on: ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.
Then clicked on browse and drilled down to the following location on my hard drive:
    C:\Program files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers /
    And then clicked on ‘usbaapl64’
This installed the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
Now Windows recognises my iPod again.
PS. I can’t remember if I had to restart the computer once the device driver was installed. But if the above doesn’t work for you, then at the end, try restarting to see if that finishes the installation of the device driver. Good luck

  • Ipod shuffle 2 nd gen itunes 9 ipod not recognised (windows 7 64 bit OS)

    Hi
I see that others are having issue. My problem is that I have windows 7 ultimate installed (64 bit) along with itunes 9 (64 version) . When i plug in my ipod shuffle 2nd gen 1gb I get the following message " the software required for communicating with ipod and mobile phones is not installed properly. Do you want Itunes to repair this for you?'
Say yes reboot - same error message .Connect ipod not recognised.
    Have reinstalled itunes 9
Have also uninstalled itunes and reinstalled
gone to portable devices under device manager to update drivers still issues
Is anyone getting the same error message and is there a solution
    really frustrating !!!

I'm having the same kind of problem and haved tried pretty much everything my self. We have two computers. One with Vista and the other with XP pro. We have three iPods.
80g video, Touch first generation and touch second generation. Everything works fine with the first two, but windows cannot find the driver for the 2nd generation touch. Altough all drivers seem to be installed. The problem started with the Vista computer. I've uninstalled and re-installed everything and nothing works. Took everything on the XP computer, and the 2nd generation touch is still not recognized.
Of course I-tunes is up to date and all drivers as well.

my ipod was doing the latest update of ios (think it was 6) and it froze so i tried to reset it now all i get is a light blue screen. help please.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT6058 my ipad screen will not rotate since latest update

my ipad scrren will not rotate since latest update, i have done everything i can think of including wha tapple told me

What have you tried, and what did Apple tell you ?
Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via control centre instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085
If there isn't a lock symbol then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Hold down the option key during start up - you will be given the choice of which partition to use (Macintosh HD or Windows). I am having the same problem - Windows 7 seems to have installed but it goes to a blank black screen and there is nothing to do but force a reboot. I too have an i3 iMac... Windows 7 32-bit from original disc.

yoohoo nokia! it's getting too boring in here!..

    hi mate,
We don't comment on rumour or speculation here, so for now, Windows Phone 7.8 has been the only announcement that Microsoft and Nokia have made and rolled out as updates to users. There will be more information, if, and when, another update arrives.

  • Ipod not recognised by Windows - need urgent help!

Just bought my Ipod Mini. Found out that Ipod is not recognised by Windows because Ipod is configured for Mac...
Restoring to factory settings not possible because Windows does not see the Ipod. What can I do?
    laptop   Windows XP

First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
iPods come pre-formatted for Mac, so you will need to format it for Windows.
See this article to verify its format: How to determine iPod's hard disk format.
Make sure that you have the latest iPod Updater software
    - Download the Update Installer to your PC (do not run it from the web site).
    - Place the file on the Desktop, or in a Folder you can remember/find.
    - You also need to install the Updater software by double-clicking on the file that downloads.
    - After you install the Updater to your PC, reboot your computer.
    - After rebooting, run the Updater.
--- Go to: Start ==> Programs ==> iPod.
    - It should initialize then ask you to connect an iPod.
    - Connect the iPod when asked (not before) and you should have two options available: Update or Restore.
--- Choose the Restore option and it will update your iPod's firmware to the latest version and format (erase) your iPod's hard drive.

  • Ipod not recognised by Windows, USB device not recognised

    Hi hope someone can help
I have recently received my ipod back from Applecare who have sent the ipod back in ' working order ' but it will no longer be recognised by my windows. It says USB device not recognised and i cant find, nor will it install drivers that i located on the ipod updater etc.
I have tried several methods on this forum but none seem to work.
The letter from mycare says the iPod is formatted for a computer operating Mac OS X. Although i stated wi use Windows. But the leter states this can be changed bu installing the updater, but this wont make a diff as comp still wont regonise the device after i have followed there instructions. Any advice?
    Thanks

I'm not really up on the complexities of the Windows OS but try this tip I picked up a while back, hopefully it might help.
"USB Device not Recognized in Windows".
    1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click the System icon.
    3. Click the Hardware tab.
    4. Click Device Manager.
    5. Scroll down the list of devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers
    6. Click the plus icon next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    7. Double-click one of the indented USB Root Hub entries.
    8. Click the Power Management tab.
    9. Deselect the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.
    10. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
    11. Restart the computer.
