Ipod not recognised in my computer or i tunes

tried uninstall and reinstall i tunes twice no luck, read discussion about windows recognising i pod in my computer under usb device - not there- saw article about updating drivers telling me to go to run program from start and giving dode to input which opened device manager clikd plus sign to expand usbports - articl asked if red light next to my device right clik to do somthing or other mine was a yellow flash so i right clikd and one of the options was to find and update driver this worked job done im back in business.
im glad i didnt take apples help advice and try the three arrses because they forget to tell you that this wipes your 120 gb of music a small detail and for me it was a years work moving it from record to ipod format and naming all the tracks which i didnt particularly want to do again. Phew what a relief! thanks for nothing apple! but im not bitter i love my ipod its not the wheel nuts its the nuts behind the wheel as they say. now i can get on an finish filling it up all ineed to do now is find out how to change the name of the ipod good luck keep trying everything except the support advice from apple- power to the people

In my case the problem started with latest update (10.01.022). After the update I haven't been able to connect my Ipod 5G or my kids brand new Ipod Touch 4G.
I have removed Itunes and all other Apples software, reinstalled Itunes+Quicktime. I have disabled and enabled USB Mass Storage in Device manager. Tried with two different cables, 5 different USB-ports... Everything, but nothing helps.
I noticed also, that normal USB-memory stick doesn't work any more on my computer
We are not alone with this problem. E.g. google search for:itunes does not recognize windows 64 gives 72300 hits for last week only!!!!
It is obvious that the Itunes update has a bug, and I hope Apple comes with a fix asap.

And i tried to charge it as usual one day, after which it is not functioning. I did not drop it or mishandle it.what can be done for this?

i posted this in another thread about this problem, it's obviously a common problem but as yet apple aren't offering up any explenations or solutions
[quote]guys there's another post on this forum about this issue with over 650 posts, apple has now closed that post to stop anyone else replying to it so that it slips away down the pages on the forum, and surprise surprise they still haven't offered any suggestions as to why this is happening or on how to fix it, in fact the silence from apple on this matter is deafening!!!!. the 650+ posts >thread on this subject can be found here>>> http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=176568

  • IPod not recognised on one computer but OK on another

I manage a number of iPod nanos for my children on my PC (vista). In the last few days, one of them (pink nano)is not recognised by windows nor therefore in iTunes. I tried by 60GB iPod and had same problem. Plugged in my blue nano and works perfectly.
Tried pink nano on my laptop (xp) and works perfectly.
Using latest version of iTunes and PC fully updated.
On PC, pink nano does not appear under USB controllers, but under Other Devices as Apple iPod USB device (with exclamation mark). The device status is: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
Can anybody shed any light on this please?

If you have more then one USB port, try the other port.

  • HT1320 ipod not showing up on computer in i tunes

hi my i pod classicn has died and is showing the red cross on the screen. tried to reset nothing happens pluged it into computer and nothing shows up HELP!!!!!

iPod Displays a Red "X" Icon
If you are unable to get the device into Disk Mode, it's likely that the iPod needs servicing. The Hard Drive is probably shot.

  • Ipod not recognised by computer or i-tunes,

My Ipod ran out of battery and now it won't reset or turn on. It's not recognised by my computer or i-tunes.
I think its died can someone please help me try and bring it back to life.
Any suggestions will be welcome thanks.

First, connect it to your computer or power adapter and let it charge for a long time, at least overnight. Then give it a try again.

  • Ipod 5th Gen not recognised on any computer - will charge via usb

    Hi,
Does anyone have a fix for my ipod which is not recognised by any computer. Have tried the software reset, putting into disk mode, but no computer will see it as a device. The ipod will however charge by the usb.
I have tried another 5th Gen on the same computer which is recognised everytime.
Cannot use the system restore as the computer does not recognise it..
    I need helpppppp!!
    Thanks
    Jimmy

You've pretty much exhausted everything so it is time to get it serviced. Is it in warranty?

  • IPod not recognised by windows iTunes

iPod not recognised by windows 8 computer.
After I recently updated iTunes I plugged my iPod Touch 4th Gen into my windows 8 desktop.
It was not recognised as an iPod by iTunes, only as a storage device in MS Windows.
After much searching I identified the problem was there was no apple mobile device USB driver installed.
    I searched for … devmgmt.msc
    Which opened the Device Manager
In Device Manager, under Portable devices, the Apple iPod should have been listed. It wasn’t.
So I Right Clicked on ‘Apple iPod’ and left clicked on ‘Update Driver Software’.
Then ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.
Browsed to this location … Windows (C) / Program files / Common Files / Apple / Mobile Device Support / Drivers /
    And then clicked on ‘usbaapl64’
It installed the Apple mobile device USB Driver, as it should have done already, when I recently updated iTunes.
Could someone check the above to see if I have described the problem and the solution correctly.
    Thanks. Chris KV

OK, update to try to provide a clearer description of the problem and solution that worked for me.
    Problem.
After I recently updated iTunes I plugged my iPod Touch 4th Gen into my windows 8 desktop. It was not recognised as an iPod by iTunes, only as a storage device in MS Windows. After much searching I identified that there was no Apple Mobile Device USB driver installed. Without the driver Windows did not recognise the Apple iPod when connected via USB.
    Solution.
I needed to use the Windows Device Manager, so I searched for … devmgmt.msc (You need to include the .msc) and clicked on it, which opened the Device Manager in a new window.
In Device Manager, under Portable devices, the Apple iPod should have been listed. It wasn’t.
So I Right Clicked on: ‘Apple iPod’ and left clicked on: ‘Update Driver Software’.
Then clicked on: ‘Browse my computer for driver software’.
Then clicked on browse and drilled down to the following location on my hard drive:
    C:\Program files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers /
    And then clicked on ‘usbaapl64’
This installed the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
Now Windows recognises my iPod again.
PS. I can’t remember if I had to restart the computer once the device driver was installed. But if the above doesn’t work for you, then at the end, try restarting to see if that finishes the installation of the device driver. Good luck

  • Ipod not recognised after upgrading to iTunes 11.2.2

I upgraded ITunes to version 11.2.2 yesterday afternoon and have tried to update my ipod classic this morning. The ipod is not recognised in ITunes nor does it appear in My Computer. My partner has plugged in her Ipod nano and this is not recognised either. Have done all the recommended troubleshooting, which doesn't work. What's happening? I am using Windows 8 on a brand new laptop.

  • Ipod shuffle 2 nd gen itunes 9 ipod not recognised (windows 7 64 bit OS)

    Hi
I see that others are having issue. My problem is that I have windows 7 ultimate installed (64 bit) along with itunes 9 (64 version) . When i plug in my ipod shuffle 2nd gen 1gb I get the following message " the software required for communicating with ipod and mobile phones is not installed properly. Do you want Itunes to repair this for you?'
Say yes reboot - same error message .Connect ipod not recognised.
    Have reinstalled itunes 9
Have also uninstalled itunes and reinstalled
gone to portable devices under device manager to update drivers still issues
Is anyone getting the same error message and is there a solution
    really frustrating !!!

I'm having the same kind of problem and haved tried pretty much everything my self. We have two computers. One with Vista and the other with XP pro. We have three iPods.
80g video, Touch first generation and touch second generation. Everything works fine with the first two, but windows cannot find the driver for the 2nd generation touch. Altough all drivers seem to be installed. The problem started with the Vista computer. I've uninstalled and re-installed everything and nothing works. Took everything on the XP computer, and the 2nd generation touch is still not recognized.
Of course I-tunes is up to date and all drivers as well.

  • My ipod not recognized by the computer or itunes?

Ok, the iPod works fine playing music and watching videos and everything else it is supposed to, and it charges fine. But when i plug it up my PC to sync new music, the screen on the iPod does like normal and goes to the gray and orangeish screen that says Connected, then immediately says Disconnecting iPod and shows the little progress bar as if you had ejected it. How can it do this on it's own before anything has recognized it?
I have done everything that the Support on here has said, the 5 r's and all that, and nothing. Checked device manager on my computer and it actually says that is is plugged up and recognized, but has a yellow exclamation point beside it. The properties of it says this error...
"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)"
These errors occurred two days again until now, i have made no recent updates on my computer or iPod to have damaged anything but these problems randomly occur. it's really odd and if someone could help me it would be great.

Have you carefully worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?
