Ipod not recognized in itunes. tried a billion things. Can you please help?

Ipod problems... a few weeks ago my ipod died and I managed to restore it over a few days. Seemed to be happy until last night when I plugged it into my computer and ... it didn't work.
Windows recognises the ipod. I can see it under MY COMPUTER. Itunes DOES NOT.
I was able to pretty much almost complete a RESTORE - I got as far as being told to unplug it from the computer and plug it into the wall jack. I didn't get the same scary symbols I got a few weeks ago, but the ipod seems fine and happy - I can browse through it, though as it was just restored, there are no songs on it.
I've tried a bunch of things. I've tried resetting it, reinstalling itunes, changing the drive letter, etc. The really INTERESTING thing is that in MY COMP it comes up as IPOD - if I recall, a few weeks ago, even after the restore, it was coming up as MYNAME'S IPOD - not just the generic IPOD.
I've tried reinstalling the original software, but that doesn't seem to work, either. When I open the ipod updater it says it can't work and asks me to send an error report. (Is this because I've got itunes 7 installed? Don't know...)
Any help is REALLY REALLY appreciated... I love my ipod and just want it to work properly! I'll keep reading the forums to see if I'm missing anything... cheers

I need to view the click data via my Omniture account. To do this I need to install the ClickMap plugin. It works on V4 but when I upgraded to V5 I now get an error saying the plugin cannot be installed.
If ClickMap is an '''extension''', as opposed to a '''plugin''', you have another option.
When Firefox disables an extension, it usually is because it includes a list of compatible Firefox versions and it hasn't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If it worked on Firefox 4, there is a good chance it will work on Firefox 5, but no guarantee.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the extensions important to you actually work in Firefox 5.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

My ipod mounts on the pc, itunes does not see it. An error pops up saying that the ipod is write protected...???? I restored it, reinstalled, rebooted. Not sure what other steps to take.. Thansk for any help.

2nd generation touch ipod not recognized by itunes or Macbook
2nd generation touch ipod is no longer recognized by itunes. The ipod has been reset and the only screen image is the itunes icon with an arrow and a USB cord connection pointing to the itunes icon.

My iPod Nano 7th Generation couldn't be detected by iTunes when I plugged in. I tried resolving the issue by uninstalling the iTunes and then install it back again but yet still the same problem exist. Can you please help me to solve this issue? i have the ipod touch 4th generation and the screen is white, i was going to charge it and it turned white. I have tried to reset it but the apple logo will not show up and it will not turn on! i just got it for christmas... can you please help?
The way I did it was I got the free app sync:stream from the App Store and then added my ipod to my ps3's Bluetooth devices. Then went to audio settings and set output and input to 'Skaggs iPod' you then open the app and it will be listed under music as a media service. You then go to all tracks and click copy (press triangle) it will then begin to copy all of your songs onto your ps3 via Bluetooth. I haven't tried but I assume the same can be done with photos. I want to import songs frm my Ipod to my itunes library. Songs were ripped from CDs to the ipod not purchased from itunes store...how can this be done?
You would have to let itunes rip the songs from the cd's, or you would have to copy the music from the computer which ripped cd's.
iTunes does not support transferring music from the ipod unless it was purchased from the store.
