IPod not registering as a device in iTunes....

I got an iPod on Saturday and when I first connected it to my PC through the USB it did all what seems to be the usual thing of bringing over files but mid-way through the line was disconnected by my cousin (small family house party at the time) and now everytime I connect the iPod to the PC, iTunes loads up but the pod's not listed as a device and it's not doing the initial read-through that it did the first time and I can't find a way around it so, can anyone help?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes

  • Updated iTunes and iPod software  iPod not showing up under devices in iTunes

Updated software since computer said there were updates.  Now I'm having trouble with iPod not showing up under devices.  Have gone through all the steps under troubleshooting.  Nothing helped.  Had this same problem periodically in the past, as well.  Itunes also says I have an app I reinstalled today due to it not working properly, and it won't synch with iPod.  (earlier today, iPod was showing up and synching properly, but this app wasn't getting downloaded to the iPod.  Just shows up in iTunes.  HAve tried restarting computer, iTunes and iPod, but no luck.

Thank you but I have tried this and it still does not show up.  I even tried to delete itunes and reload it but the computer says that it is not able to delete itunes.

    Thank you!!!!!!!
I have tried every USB port.

  • IPod not recignised as a device in iTunes, although in Windows

I have two problems (which are possibly linked).
    (1) In iTunes when I connect my iPod, the 'Device' option does not come up. I have tried several times, but nothing. The iPod just charges. So I cannot copy music into my iPod this way. For info, I have recently purchased 5th generation iPod Nano so it has never connected.
    (2) This would be ok if I could just go into Windows and copy muic across. In theory the music does copy across, but on the iPod for some reason the only artist recognised is Ben Fold Five. Every other artist / album is not listed, just the song. This means that I cannot search by artist or album, just by song.
Ben Folds is a CD copy, but none of my other CDs come through. Even the songs purchased on iTunes do not come through. I have gone into the details of the songs - the Ben Folds ones are 'MPEG Layer 3 Audio'. Everything else seems to be 'MPEG-4 Audio'.
Even in Windows the artist and album is listed only with Ben Folds, but not the other bands. And no, these are not compilation albums and these are not compilation downloads.
Any ideas on what I can do? I would really be grateful for an early reply. If the iPod Nano is at fault I have until Monday GMT to send it back.
    Many thanks!!

Why not?  Additionally, my device's version is ios 6.1.6 and says it is currently updated but periodically, when I try to install "apps" updates, the screen freezes during some updates and says "Unable to download app at this time."  Tonight my device says there are updates needed, but it won't even go to the update screen.  I am so confused. • TS1425 it won't disconnect   it says connected but is not showing up under devices in ITunes

I Pod is not showing up under devices in ITunes...it is connected to my MacBook Pro and it says connected ...but it is frozen...

I'm not a Mac user, but do one of the following:
    > Restart your mac.
    > uninstall & reinstall iTunes
    > reset your iPod (if possible)
    > make sure iTunes is up to date.
This is what I really know, I don't use a mac. If this doesn't help, then sorry.

  • HT1719 why doesnt my 1st generation ipod shuffle appear on my devices on itunes?

Why doesnt my 1st generation ipod shuffle appear under my devices on itunes when i plug it in? i have windows 7. I got the ipod today from a friend with their music. i deleted their music and added my own to the folder it was in. but when i unplugged it i still had their music and none of mine.

You need to restore the Shuffle in iTunes first. Then sync all of your music stored in iTunes over to it. Or is that what you did?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Re-pair your library with iTunes.
Settings/computers, disconnect your library, then remove the Apple TV from iTunes prefs if necessary.
    Then settings/computers/connect to iTunes.

  • HT1386 Why does my iPod not registered as connected to iTunes all of the sudden?

So I got a new iPod touch (4th generation) for Christmas this year, and have had no trouble thus far syncing my music and other things to it, but recently, when I plug my device into my computer, iTunes does not register that it is plugged in, but my computer does....I have run out of option, and have even restored my iPod completely, hoping that would help, but nothing has worked and now I have lost everything on my iPod alltogether. I have grown frustrated and need assistance with this as soon as possible.

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
