Ipod not registering songs

Hi,
I am having a problem at the moment with my ipod. When the ipod is plugged into the computer, I can see the songs being transferred but when i disconnect from my computer, the songs are not on my ipod. I've reset my ipod several times and have all the current updates. Even though the ipod is empty it still shows a large memory used on the ipod screen in itunes.
I use my ipod on 2 computers, one at work and one at home. When I use my computer at home, the ipod works perfectly but when I use the work computer the problem persists. My internet connection at home is not very good and I find it difficult to download anything from itunes otherwise I would use my home computer exclusively.
Has anyone experienced anythinh similar to this and if so can you help?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Is your iPod set to manually update?
Also, you may want to restore the iPod and then begin transferring your songs again (assuming they are on your computer)...

Finally, do you notice any patterns in the songs that aren't transferring? For example, are they all purchased?

  • HT1386 Why does my iPod not registered as connected to iTunes all of the sudden?

So I got a new iPod touch (4th generation) for Christmas this year, and have had no trouble thus far syncing my music and other things to it, but recently, when I plug my device into my computer, iTunes does not register that it is plugged in, but my computer does....I have run out of option, and have even restored my iPod completely, hoping that would help, but nothing has worked and now I have lost everything on my iPod alltogether. I have grown frustrated and need assistance with this as soon as possible.

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

  • Ipod not skipping songs in shuffle

I seem to have the opposite problem as most in the shuffle mode.  I have marked all of my holiday songs to skip in shuffle mode, multiple times now, but a few songs continue to play when I hit Shuffle.  Any ideas?

You haven't actually set some songs to skip when shuffling
You have two copies of a song that plays in shuffle mode - one copy set to skip when shuffling, and the other one is not and this one therefore plays in shuffle mode
You have set skip when shuffling while the iPod is connected to iTunes, and that change to skip has not been synchronised with the iPod
If a song plays in shuffle mode when you think it should not do so, check the setting for the song in your iTunes Library to make sure it's the way you want. Make sure you select just the one song, do not check multiple items while trying to resolve this issue.

  • Ipod not registering on Itunes screen

    Hello,
I'm having problems with my Ipod registering on my Itunes screen. When I plug the Ipod into the USB plug on my computer the Ipod shows the 'do not disconnect' logo as normal. However the Ipod no longer appears on the left hand side of the Itunes screen allowing me to transfer music onto the Ipod.
Itunes appears to be working fine. I can purchase music and access my Itunes library. Not much good if I can't transfer it onto the actual Ipod.
I have tried all the suggested troubleshoots, such as the 5 r's. I have removed and re-installed Itunes, wiped the Ipod clean of all my music, nothing seems to be working.
The computer and the USB port appears fine.
Has anyone had similar problems and can offer assistance ?

I was able to wipe the music off my Ipod using someone else's computer. The Ipod did register on the other computer. It allowed me to wipe the music off and it allowed me to add on music I purchased on that computer only. I can get into my Itunes account on the other computer and it does display my music library but it will not allow me to do anything with the music from my library.
My problems started occurring after I had a clean up of my own computer and installed anti virus software. Surely that can't have wrecked my Ipod connection for my own computer.
    Any suggestions ?

  • IPod Not Showing Songs

I have a 4th generation iPod and I use it with both a Mac and a PC. I recently had it connected to my Mac and disconnected it before it was fully ejected. Now none of the music will show up on my iPod and the iPod will not show up on my computer. It still says that I have the same amount of memory used as before and the photos I have show up, so I believe my music is still on there, but I cannot access it. Any help anyone could offer would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

You could try resetting your iPod, in hopes that that might retrieve your music.
    Tor reset an iPod:
First toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times.
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
You might need to try this quite a few times. Also, for more effect you might want to try connecting your iPod to a power source while you try resetting it.
As for your iPod not being recognized... have ooyu first tried connecting your iPod to your computer while it is in disk mode? Follow in the instructions in this article:
    Putting iPod into disk mode
If that doesn't help, then take a look at the suggestions in this article, as well:

  • IPod not registering on windows when connected

    Hi,
My ipod is connected up to a usb 2.0 port and it just isnt registering. ive tried on another computer with the same result. Has anyone encountered similar problems?
    Please help thankyou

    I might have an answer....
I had this problem for 5 days and I finally sorted thru 15 articles to get it to work.
    1. If you have a lap top go to this support web site and follow the instruction. I had the same problem with my creative media MP3 player.
    2. The other useful tip is that the IPOD tries to pick a default drive on your computer and if u are already using that drive for something, then it does not work. To check/fix this...
    a. Go to "MY computer"
    b. Each drive will have a letter ("c:\")
Write down all of the ones you are using.
    c. Right click on the "My computer icon" and select "Manage" from the menu.
    d. Under "storage" pick "Disk management"
IT MAY TAKE upto 5 minutes to load!!!
    e. Find the ipod in the menu on the right and make sure that the drive letter is not one that you wrote down in step b. If it is, then right click and change it.
    f. Restart your computer.
    3. IF this does not work, re-install ITunes.
    AFter than... keep looking.
I got this stuff off of other discussion page so thanks to everyone who has helped me out!!!

  • IPod not playing songs/ not detected in iTunes!

Okay. I've been searching for days in forums, etc for a solution to no avail.
    I have a 4GB ipod nano 3rd gen.
I run Windows Vista. I updated my iTunes to version 8 and plugged in my iPod to charge it. First time charging the iPod in this computer running Vista. Every other time I would charge in my other computer running XP.
When I connected the iPod I recieved the message saying the iPod may have disc problems. I cancelled the message. I recieved a message asking if I would like to sync the songs to or from the iPod. I chose to sync the songs from my iPod onto my computer (again, first time using this Vista computer).
After syncing the songs onto my Vista computer I noticed it had not synced all the songs. I ejected the iPod. Plugged it back in. This time when the message prompted about the disc needing repair I chose yes.
My iPod was not detected by iTunes, and has not been from that point on. Furthermore, I cannot play songs from my iPod. I can power it on, scroll through songs, etc, but when I choose a song to play it either flashes the album cover then that screen goes away right away, or it freezes for about ten seconds, in which time if I circle the wheel I hear my click volume going up and down but nothing on screen is happening at all. Another weird thing is I can load the Quiz Show game that plays clips of music and has you guess what they are, but when I play the game now it's just the Quiz Show music the whole time and none of my songs will play.
This is really weird and I don't know why no one has posted a solution on any websites yet. I have read so many differrent threads on so many differrent websites, but no one can answer my question.

  • Please help me. ipod not registering

    Hi
My ipod charger broke so I havnt used my ipod for a while. When I pluged in my ipod to my computor it said that it was corrupt and needed to be restored. So I tried that and my computor crashed. Now when I plug it the do not disconect thingy comes up on the ipod but my computor doesnt register it at all. Please help me!!! Im going to my best friends party on Friday and desperately need it sorted by then. If you have any advise at all please reply asap.
    Thanks in advance.

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
Then try with the iPod in forced disk mode.

  • Ipod not updating songs, but disk space is still used? HELP

Okay, I got my video ipod 30gb on my birthday june 2 and it's worked fine all this time. Yesterday, i accidentally unplugged it while it said 'do not disconnect' and now all my songs are gone, but it still says 4.94GB / 22.89 used. There are no error messages popping up or anything, i have tried to restore my ipod and it cleared it, so i thought okay and i redownloaded all 800 songs i had and put them in the ipod. Yet when i unplugged it (this time the right way) it still showed i had 0 songs 0 everything! How do I fix this? Do I need a new ipod?

I have the same problem, but in addition to that I got another problem. When I realised that my iPod suddenly was empty I connected it to the Mac, but then a picture appeared of a magnifying glass and a disk, and a progress bar. I guess this is some kind of disk check program. The problem is that the progress bar stops at about 90%!
Since this process is started every time I connect to the computer, I can´t restore the iPod.. What am I supposed to do now?

  • IPOD not playing songs in order when not set on shuffle

During play of music.  My IPOD will make a noise and then change songs.  There is no other problem with the unit.  Does anyone have a suggestions as to what the problem could be?

I have used these two programs to get the data out of the ipod, Xplay and Floola. The former is commercial, the latter is free but xplay has a few more options.

  • Iphone and 3 ipods not registering with iTunes since upgrading to version 10.4!

Good day and thanks for your help.  AppleCare has been unable to solve or identify my problem.  Since upgrading to version 10.4 I am unable to have my iphone or ipods be recognized in iTunes.  I have deleted and reloaded iTunes four times, as instructed by my AppleCare tech.  I still cannot see any devices in iTunes.  I am running a Dell Latitude D620 with XP, Service Pack 3.  My device manager shows all USB ports are active and working properly.  I have tried multiple Apple sync cables.  My phone and cable work fine on my wife's laptop, so I do not believe it is a hardware issue with the cable or phone.
I heard a rumor that I need USB 2.0 ports for version 10.4.  I believe my ports are version 1.  Is this true?  If so, how can I find and reinstall iTunes version 10.3.
Thank you for your time and assistance.  I am extremely frustrated by this process!

  • Why does my iPod not register with iTunes when I plug it in?

My iPod has been having a continual preoblem, where it shuffles through my entire library, song by song, and stops at each one for about a second each. It has happened a few other times. I plug it into my pc to try to correct the problem, but my iPod doesn't reister with my iTunes. Does anyone know what's wrong? I'm beginning to think I have a defective iPod.

  • Ipod not showing songs only online

Some of my songs arent showing up on my ipod touch 3rd generation but it shows all of them on my itunes account. How can i get them back on my ipod?
    Message was edited by: kkcool1737

Not one reply. Does this mean that no one knows the answer to this?
    Dell Windows XP
I'm using a 4th generation iPod. I was having no
trouble importing songs from CDs or ones purchased
through iTunes onto my iPod until now. I haven't
purchased any new music from iTunes recently, so I
haven't checked to see if that's still working, but
I've been downloading songs into iTunes from my CDs.
I have my iPod set up to "manually manage songs and
playlists". I can get the songs from the CD into my
iTunes library, and then I click and drag them to
the iPod icon in the source list. My iPod used to
show all songs that were on it when I selected it in
the source list. Now it only shows the songs that
I've recently dragged over, however, those songs
don't actually show up on my iPod when I disconnect
it from my computer. So my iPod shows (and plays)
all the songs I previously had on it, but within the
iPod view on iTunes it only shows the songs I've
recently tried to import (which don't show up or
play on the iPod itself). I've gone through all the
menu lists and options trying to figure this out but
didn't see anything that looked relevant. Any
    suggestions?

  • IPod not registering as a device in iTunes....

I got an iPod on Saturday and when I first connected it to my PC through the USB it did all what seems to be the usual thing of bringing over files but mid-way through the line was disconnected by my cousin (small family house party at the time) and now everytime I connect the iPod to the PC, iTunes loads up but the pod's not listed as a device and it's not doing the initial read-through that it did the first time and I can't find a way around it so, can anyone help?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
