5th gen 60 gig video ipod   Windows XP Pro   itunes 7.0.2

If you have clicked on APPLY after setting it up for manual mode, then it should work. There is a way to do that manually without the aid of iTunes. Try this:
With the iPod already on but NOT SYNCED TO ITUNES. Press and HOLD DOWN the menu and select (select is the center button) buttons until you see the screen go black, then immediately switch to pressing and holding down the select and play buttons until you see that the iPod has gone into disk mode. The iPod will have a white background with disk mode at the top of the screen. A black checkmark in the middle of the screen, and ok to disconnect right under the checkmark. Plug the iPod in after this and see how your system responds to it then.

  • IPod Touch 4G not showing up in My Computer (Windows 7)

    Hello,
I'm new to the forums and I don't know whether this is the right place for a Windows user to post a problem. If not, disregard this thread.
My iPod Touch 4G doesn't always show up in My Computer making video/picture transfer impossible. So far I've gotten the following results:
1 - iPod Touch 4g shows up as a digital camera with a camera icon. It then can be accessed through My Computer but iTunes won't see it.
2 - iPod Touch 4g doesn't show up in My Computer at all. iTunes, however, see it just fine.
3 - iPod Touch 4g shows up in My Computer as iPod with a black iPod icon. It then can be accessed through My Computer and iTunes.
I've tried updating, reinstalling the driver and plugging the device into a different USB port but so far no luck. This is actually a pretty common problem for Windows users. This is the only device that I have such an issue with.
    I'm on a fresh Windows install and it's up-to-date.

  • Ipod not showing up in itunes, computer asking to fix but nothing happening

I plugged my ipod into my laptop and it said it was corrupted. Since that I’ve done the five r's and tried to scan it to find the problem. Nothing is working. The ipod just says recharging don't disconnect and then I get the message disk corrupted do you want to scan and fix. If I say yes nothing happens if I say no nothing happens. It shows up in my computer but won't let me look in it and itunes never brings it up. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem. I've been able to get it into disk mode, but then iTunes won't recognize it and so I can't restore it. This is the second iPod I've this happen to (the original one I bought and it's replacement) within two years. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Music from iPod not showing up on new computer

I recently purchased a MacBook after using iTunes with an HP laptop. Once I hooked my iPod up to my new Mac, many songs that I downloaded from sources other than iTunes and from CDs I had burned onto my iPod did not show up in my new iTunes.
Also, any new music I purchase from iTunes, if I want to put them onto my iPod, iTunes tells me that I must erase all other files before adding my new purchases.
Ideally I would like to keep all of the existing music from my old iPod and have it transfered to my new iTunes library.
    What do I do?!

  • Ipod not showing up or charging in Windows

My ipod won't show up in Windows, or charge on my computer. I have tried the 5 R steps, tried different USB ports and different cords. I have reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer and it still won't work. I can't restore it because it won't show up. My sister has a brand new 3rd gen Nano and it's doing the same thing, but my other sister's 2nd gen nano works just fine.
    Any help?

I have looked at other peoples posts with the same problem, tried the solutions they were given but it hasn't worked for me. What can I do?

  • IPod not showing up in iTunes on Windows XP

I know this appears to be covered in the help files elsewhere, but the ultimate suggestion of restoring through the iPod updater still fails as the software doesn't find my ipod.
    Running iTunes v5.0.0.35
Trying to run iPod Updater 2005-09-06
I have two mini iPods and one is working correctly so I can be confident that the cables and PC, etc. are okay.
Second iPod is working in so far as playing music is concerned, and will charge on the mains lead, and shows up as a drive in Explorer when plugged in to the USB2 cable nd can be stopped using the "Safely Remove Hardware" function.
Resetting the iPod using select/menu seems to perform the reset (I get the apple logo) but iTunes software still doesn't see the iPod when connected.
I would be grateful for any suggestions on how I can fix/reset the iPod so that it talks to iTunes again.
If I use the original CD to try to format the iPod, it takes some time to initialise, but finally reports that the unit requires formatting. Having clicked on the format button, the software has been reporting that it is "Waiting for iPod" for the last 15+ minutes.
    Many thanks in advance
    RC

I've decided that a problem I have with iTunes continually asking me to authorize music I have downloaded coincides with plugging the 'faulty' iPod mini in.
Not sure which is chicken and which is egg, but as my other iPod mini continues to behave I still thing it's a faulty iPod rather than software/pc/cable issue.
Just wondered whether posting this sheds any more light on it for anyone. As things stand, I have requested a warranty repair through the website.
    Regards

  • Ipod not showing in itunes or computer

What can I do to get my ipod shuffle to be recognized...Re-installing works when I first do it and then when I go into my library to check off some songs and back to look for my ipod--it is gone again!!

I had 80 GB ipod before and it used to work fine , then last week I upgraded from 80GB to 160GB video classic and also i updated itunes to 7.4.1 , the first 2 days it was working excellent and on sunday morning my laptop did not recognise it , neither did itunes. It was unable to detect it . I was frustrated , so on monday i thought lets try on my office pc , also office pc did not detect. Then I did a hard boot of my ipod by pressing center button and Menu button simultaneously for few seconds and the apple logo comes and after that the menu comes , then i plugged in the ipod to my pc and now it detects as a drive. My office pc doesnot have itunes so i could not check wether Itunes detect it or not. I will check today evening that. but atleast now its detecting as a drive . I guess there is a serious problem in Ipod classic , also I found one other intresting problem. My previous 80 gig ipod was to work as a charm on my laptop external 2.0 USB device , but this 160GB classic doesnt work on external 2.0 USB device , I have to plug to my 1.1 USB port on my laptop which is very disappointing. My external 2.0 USB device shows error saying APPLE USB DRIVER NOT Found. I seriously know this is problem from ipod classic. Since my preious 80GB use to work like charm. I guess I have to update my laptop now.

  • IPod Touch is not showing up in My Computer

I realize that there are several other topics that talk about this problem, but so far none have really helped me. My goal is to have my iPod Touch be recognized as a camera so I can upload all my photos from my Saved Photos to my computer and finally clear up some much needed space on it. Please don't refer me to software that will allow me to move photos from my iTouch to my PC because either they are all only trial versions or they don't allow me to access the images from my Saved Photos album.
Currently my iPod Touch does not show up in My Computer. I'm running Windows XP. Checking my Device Manager for the driver, the only driver that comes up that relates to my iPod is called Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling that driver (and one I was able to get the iPod to show up in My Computer as a camera but when I clicked on it, it said that there were no pictures in the device [and I clearly do], and after uninstalling the driver again and reinstalling it the icon went away). I've read that maybe uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling it might fix my problem, but I'm weary to uninstall it for fear that I might loose all my applications that I've synced into iTunes as well as my purchases and all the movies and things I've downloaded.
If anyone has any comments, suggestions, or further questions about my problem, PLEASE say so because this is very urgent and I need all the help I can get.

Also, I forgot to add that my iTouch is a 1st Gen I believe (I'm sorry, I got it for a Christmas gift, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1st Gen).

I ipod touch is not showing up on my computer when I plug in to update and download audiobooks.

    Hey khdewey,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPod touch being recognized in iTunes on your Mac. The following resource may provide a solution:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591
Note: This article is for Mac OS X users. If you're using a Windows PC, please refer to these troubleshooting suggestions.
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
    1. Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    2. Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
    3. Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
    4. Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    5. Restart your Mac.
    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens and you're using Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, please follow these steps.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • IPod does not show up in itunes or windows

I've been through all relevant troubleshooting pages and I still can't get my 4th Gen ipod to show up on my computer or itunes. I have managed to install a driver, so the device manager recognises there is an ipod fitted.
Is it because I have WIndows Vista? I've checked that its fully upto date.
    Please help, its highly frustrating.

I need help with this as well. (Of course, like the others, I have also checked the various support pages and googled the problem to no avail.)
Basically, I want to connect my ipod to my work computer so I can charge it while listening to music. I did not have trouble with it in the past (I was able to connect it without itunes, ipod would charge once plugged in to a usb port - it showed charging "do not disconnect" message; I could also charge it while listening by ejecting it through windows - right clicking the ipod drive listed and selecting eject) and it's connecting to my co-worker's computer just fine! So I think it's a usb problem on my computer but i have no clue as to what to do... >_<
When I got to work today and plugged my ipod into my computer, it mysteriously did not show up under the windows explorer as a drive so I could not eject it as normal to charge and listen. Originally, this morning it did JUST charge (plugged ipod in and "do not disconnect" message appeared), but after I fiddled around and selected to stop device under the device manager it would not connect again. So now it is not even connecting to charge.
I've tried installing itunes, rebooting various times, resetting my ipod, turning it into disk mode, changing it back... - all nothing.
Although...when it changed from disk mode back to regular ipod mode and I plugged it into the usb drive it did charge for a while (as if it was on aka i could play music; it didn't show the "do not disconnect" screen), but when I touched the click wheel it stopped charging!!!
this is very frustrating so any help would be appreciated

  • 7th gen iPod not showing up in Windows 8 anymore

7th gen iPod not showing up in Windows 8 anymore. Tried all the apple troubleshooting. Help?

I have tried all the 'Rs' that Apple recommend. As said, I can't hook up the iPod to my computer. I have tried to reset the iPod manually (holding the select and menu button) - but this doesn't work.
If there is another (manual) way to restore the iPod, I would love to hear about it.
As said: as for restoring the iPod - I can't get any contact with my iPod with my computer at all.
