Ipod not showing up on new itunes screen
recently had to set computer back to factory settings due to bad file - when i go onto itunes - and my ipod is plugged in my playlists do not come up and i cannot add a playlist since it is as if it is not reading loies ipod. HELP -

Music from iPod not showing up on new computer
I recently purchased a MacBook after using iTunes with an HP laptop. Once I hooked my iPod up to my new Mac, many songs that I downloaded from sources other than iTunes and from CDs I had burned onto my iPod did not show up in my new iTunes.
Also, any new music I purchase from iTunes, if I want to put them onto my iPod, iTunes tells me that I must erase all other files before adding my new purchases.
Ideally I would like to keep all of the existing music from my old iPod and have it transfered to my new iTunes library.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Ipod not showing up in Windows/Itunes
when i connect my ipod nothing shows up in my computer. I get an autoplay message that says, "what do you want windows to do.." but there is nothing in the list. And when I hit okay, the ipod doesnt show up in itunes. Once in a blue moon it does show up in itunes and i get a message that says the ipod is corrupted, but as soon as i click okay the ipod disappears from the list in itunes. I have reinstalled itunes, set power management to always let the USB have power, restarted, ect ect. But nothing so far. The ipod hardware itself cant be the problem because it comes up fine in my firends computer. Could it be my computer?? Idk thx! Also this just started happening w/ the new update of 7.0 in itunes...

IPod not showing up in new 7.0 iTunes
I have had this problem several times since the new 7.0xxx iTunes has come out. I follow the steps in the diagnostic help topic and I eventually am able to fix the problem, but it is a different fix that works each time and it has been taking nearly half a day to resolve the issue (this is getting tedious!!!)! Is there something that is probably causing this issue to reoccur? Is there something with iTunes 7.0 and Norton SystemWorks that is causing this to reoccur? I never had any problems prior to 7.0 and obviously we can't go back to previously version since all files were transposed and reinstalling previous version 6.0 just causes errors. Thanks.

My Ipod mini shows "locked" on the ITunes screen
When connecting my Ipod mini to the computer I see in ITunes a " locked" sign.
I can only add new music (still some disk space on Ipod); it does not delete old songs that I have deleted in ITunes.
My Ipod mini is not set to act as external hard diskDo you have your ipod on automatic update or manual update? If it's on automatic update you can't delete songs and there will be a lock symbol down at the bottom of the screen next to where it tells you how much space you have left.

Ipod not showing up, locks up iTunes
I'm sure this is an old question but I bought a used Ipod mini and everything worked great for a while so I don't think it's a bad iPod. Downloaded iTunes 7.7 and got songs sent over and it worked fine for a week. Today the computer won't recognize the iPod and when I plug it in it locks up iTunes. I see the iPod in the device manager and it says it's working properly. Also the songs on the iPod vanished today as well. Nothing has happened (dropped, damaged, etc) so I'm at a loss. I tried uninstalling 7.7 and installing 7.6 but no difference. help! Like I said it worked great before, now nothing.

i finnaly got it to work i tried restarting it 2 times and it finnaly connected.
hope this can help some people.
i think since so many people are having this problem they should tell you how to fix it in the manual it comes with.
it would be alot quicker and LESS browsing and reading. -
How do I get my iPod Touch from the iTunes screen without doing a restore?
If let the battery furlly drain or you smash the iPod it will not show the connect to iTunes screen any more

IPod does not show in Finder or iTunes
My 2nd generation Nano won't connect to my Mac. The screen alternates between a screen with a dimmed-out Apple logo, a screen with a message saying to restore using iTunes, and a screen showing a the small charged battery icon and a message saying do not disconnect.
Of course I can't restore it using iTunes, because the computer isn't recognizing the iPod, and not disconnecting seems irrelevant, since it's not connected in the first place. (I've nevertheless left it plugged into the computer for about 3 hours in hopes it might resolve itself, but it doesn't look like it's going to.)
The 3 screens alternate at about 1 second intervals. I've tried resetting the iPod and I've tried connecting with a different computer. When I try to reset with the iPod not connected to a Mac, the screen just goes to black. Then if I try reconnecting the USB, I just get the three alternating screens again. (I have the latest version of iTunes, and the iPod software is up-to-date as well. I'm using Snow Leopard on my iMac and Leopard on my laptop.) I've tried restarting the computer. In fact, I'm out of ideas, so I'd be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions.Hi CorCakalaka,
Just to let you know, you're not on your own. My 30GB 5th gen iPod is doing the same, but I'm running on Windows XP. Tried everything in the support pages and nothing worked. Tried on my Nano and no problems. Hopefully someone who has had this problem and sorted it will get in touch (fingers crossed)
