  • 16 GB x-Fi Style - does not start after charging

    Hi,
4 weeks ago I bought my x-Fi style and used it during my holidays for 2 weeks. After charging the player only twice (USB-connection with notebook), it now fails starting. Maybe there is an internal temperature fuse to protect from overheating and I only have to wait to try again? After connecting to USB the CREATIVE sign appears but disappears directly and a battery symbol appears and remains on the screen. After disconnecting the player does not react in any way. I already tried to reset but cannot start it again.
    Can anyone help me?
    Cheers,
    Uli

Re: 6 GB x-Fi Style - does not start after charging:Just fyi
I found the website for Creative to be very frustrating. Not one snail mail address or corporate headquarters info. The link for website feedback didn't work and one other customer service link was a dud. They clearly don't want to be 'bothered' with complaints, or anything positi've for that matter!
But, I searched on the forum and found a three-year-old post about someone who was frustrated with having to carry around a paperclip to always push 'reset' on his X-Fi -- and the light dawned! Didn't know I had one of those. I pressed reset and voila! it is working again. Still had to charge it, but it accepted the charge this time and I was able to finish my book and move on to the next. Now, the next problem is I tried to access my wireless network which has a $ in the password and there is no $ in the choices for entering a password. So, now I have to change the password, change all of my device passwords (Blu-Ray, iPad, laptops(2), friend's laptops, etc. a huge pain. Seems to me they could have included a $ in the choices!

  • 3rd generation ipod not starting up

My first generation iPod doesn't start up (black & white). I haven't used it for few years and want to use it again. I guess the battery is dead? Is there anyway to fix it? I really want to use it.
Its 3rd generation iPod (NOT IPOD TOUCH)

How long have you left the iPod to sit and charge?  After leaving it to charge for an extended period of time, try resetting it.
    How to reset iPod
About how long did it go unused?  iPod batteries need constant activity in order to maintain any sort of capacity to build a charge.

  • 5th Gen Ipod Not Syncing or Charging

I'm having problems getting my ipod to sync or charge. I've tried my wall charger and it's not detecting it. It's not being detected by my computer. I've tried 2 different cords and replaced the battery. I haven't had any problems with it. It's been clicking for awhile which makes me think the hard drive. So now I'm here. ^_^ Can anyone help me please? I just want to make sure it's the hard drive before I go and spend money on another part. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

    Hello Seirra I,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
The clicking noise very well could be signs of a failing hard drive, but before we make any final assumptions or decisions, let's just make sure you have tried everything you could.
Have you worked through each potential troubleshooting solution provided in these Apple support documents? You stated a couple of troubleshooting techniques in your post above, but it wouldn't hurt to try the rest of them at this point right?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Another option is to see if you can get another computer to recognize it. From there you can determine if the problem lies with your iPod or your PC.
If not luck with any of the above, I would definitely recommend getting the hard drive replaced. You can either opt to do it your self, have it serviced by Apple, or a third party company repair it for you. That decision is entirely yours.
    Hope this helps.

  • IdeaPad S100 does not start or charge

    Dear Lenovo,
Last year on February 2nd, I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad S100 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have used it almost
every day and I am very happy with the product.
Last Friday I tried to turn on the IdeaPad, but it did not do anything. It would not start, it would not charge...nothing. I took the battery out for the night, thinking this might solve the problem. Unfortunately, it still did not work.
This afternoon I called Lenovo Australia to tell them about the problem. The gentleman on the phone told me that Lenovo Australia does not sell this product, so that I should contact Lenovo Malaysia.
When I purchased the product last year, I specifically asked them if I would get world wide guarantee and word wide service. This was essential for me, as I travel the world for my work. The answer was: yes! Lenovo Australia however said "No. This warranty and the service is limited. Lenovo Australia cannot do anything for you."
I asked the service desk employee if there was an office in Bali that sells the IdeaPad S100, as I will be going there next week. His answer was: "Have a look on the website to see if there is an office there."
To be honest, I was pretty much flabbergasted by the information Lenovo Australia provided to me. I do not consider this as service, but as moving the problem that YOUR CUSTOMER submits, back to YOUR CUSTOMER.
I would like to know, what Lenovo Australia expects me to do? Send my IdeaPad S100 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and see if they can solve the problem? Even though it might just be a simple problem, like changing the adapter? If I would summarize the costs of sending this express to Malaysia, paying for the service costs and maybe even having to pay for replacing products, it is probably cheaper for me to purchase a new laptop here in Melbourne, Australia. And I can assure you: it will not be a Lenovo.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
    With kind regards,
    Peggy

Hi Peggy, welcome to the forums,
    by entering your system type, S100, on the following linked to site you can see in which countries the system has warranty.  Please bear in mind that in some countries proof of purchase will be required as part of the warranty entitlement;

  • Hp Pavilion 15 Notebook will not start or charge

I bought this notebook I believe a year ago and at first it had a minor issues of not turning on but it was resolved soon after that. As the year went by no problems what so even I didn't use the laptop too much but it was working well. Recently however I started using it more frequently and installed a few games on it. These games were obviously meant to be played on a high end gaming computer but I worked around tweaking some settings on my computer and besides the CPU being worked at its max the games ran smoothly with minor problems but these were normal considering game crashes happened on even the most top grade pc. However a few days ago after a little while of playing games I closed all my programs and closed the laptop like I normally do and set it on my desk to charge. I come back maybe 2 hours later and it doesn't turn on, no lights, no fan, not even a charging light. I have tried doing a hard reboot take out the battery everything currently as I speak the computer is on my desk with the bottom of the computer open with the hard drive exposed along with other things. I have no idea what is wrong but maybe it's a mother board problem or CPU fried I don't know but I need help and was hoping if I knew what the problem was if I could just order the parts and replace it. • IPod not holding its charge

I have had my iPod colour 60gb model for just over a month now and all of a sudden the battery is not holding its charge. It is literally going from full to empty in minutes. Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar problem with a mini, (no not the car, the ipod!) and did a reset and then it held the charge next time.

  • IPhone 4S will not start or charge, error message when trying to restore in recovery mode

So my iPhone 4S shorted out the other night while I was charging it. I did the hard reset and it restarted itself. But later that evening, it turned off and wouldn't restart no matter what and would not charge. When I connect it to my computer (mac) iTunes recognizes it and says it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. It starts the restore process and the apple logo comes up with a loading bar but then when it gets to the "verifying restore with Apple" it gives an error message (9) and then the phone goes back. Please help!

    Hey rileyec,
I found this information about error 9:
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
via: iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
If those steps do not resolve the issue, I would attempt to perform a recovery-mode restore:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • Ipod not connecting, only charging. Afraid to pull it out.

This seems to be a common problem but I'm really stuck as to what I can do. I've connected my ipod but the computer isn't recognising it. On the screen, it simply says "Charging". I know that if I disconnect it now, my computer will crash which is something I don't want to happen. I've tried resetting it but it hasn't made a difference. How can I disconnect my ipod safely? Can I reset my ipod settings while connected to the mac? Will that help?

Just as an addendum to your question (I'm glad you got it all worked out). I have two iPods, one connects via firewire (the older one) and one by USB (newer).
The newer one, if I connect by firewire cable, just charges, but iTunes doesn't recognize it. Took me forever to figure out that the newer pods need that USB (don't ask me why - firewire seems just fine to me).
Not sure it's relevant, but maybe helpful to somebody in a tangential way.

  • IPod not holding a charge

My fourth generation iPod touch does not register when I plug it in to charge or when I try to sync it to iTunes. I haven't dropped it, and it has not been damaged in any way, and it isn't even a year old. Could there be a manufacturing problem? Will apple fix it for no charge since I haven't done anything to damage it?

  • Ipod not seen wont charge no screen activity

my ipod will not do anything pretty much its completly dead and last it worked was the last time i used it like a week ago the battery life is completly dead i believe but i cant do anyhting to it because it doesnt idk ... help plz

The reason I ask how you are charging it is that if you are charging it via USB then you should check if you have USB ports 1.1 or 2.0.
Also if you are using an AC adapter you might want to plug it into a USB cable.
Are you able to try another method of charging? Such as using a friend/family members USB cable or AC adapter. This will rule out a faulty cable.

  • IPod Not starting

The iPod will not load apple logo and no noise made by iPod when a power on is attempted. Plug-in to power source results in no action. Bricked?

Try isolating the problem by connecting IPOD directly to a computer USB Port.
Your IPOD will not work if the Battery level is too low.
For more info go to the link below:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60970 .
    Read the batter Icon and see what the charge level is;
and if you have available use a AC/DC IPOD Charger which connect directly to
AC circuit,; it should charge within 2 hours and full in 4 hour.
If battery level is okay try doing Manual Reset>
by selecting Menu and Center simultaneously, for about 6 seconds. You may have to try several times to complete
    Re-try IPOD
If all of the above checks out okay> then do:
These five steps (known as the five Rs) will conquer most iPod issues.
    1. Reset your iPod.
    2. Retry with a different USB port.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software.
    5. Restore your iPod.
