Ipod not syncing notes/calendars/contacts

i use itunes 10.1.1.4 and office 2003 sp3(i think).
everytime i try to sync itunes i get an error saying "iTunes could not sync contacts/calendars/notes to the iPod because an error occurred while merging data"
aanything that can be done?

it came up with an error for the calendar sending the info or something like that... when i turned off calendars it came up with the origional error-merging data... when i told it to replace the notes with the data on the computer it said an error occured while sending the data to ipod... i am thinking that it is outlooks fault... it isn't taking anything or talking to itunes it would seem... any other notes program that i can get itunes to sync with? or is there a way of getting outlook to work again?

I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S).  I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone.  But not sure how to do that.  When I open iTunes it has a button that say "Back Up iPhone", but I'm not sure what that does.  When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that.  Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

  • ICloud 3.1 only syncs Outlook Mail, not Calendars, Contacts or Reminders

When I launch iCloud 3.1 on my Win8.1 PC, the program shows Outlook Mail, Calendars, Contacts and Reminders as an option until iCloud completes loading. When it completes loading, it only shows Mail as an option. The other 3 disappear from the window. My iCloud syncs with Outlook 2013 mail perfectly. The other items don't sync. Can anybody help me?

Same here. I don't mind having my personal appts in the company outlook calendar, but do not want my email sitting in Outlook and on the the company servers.

  • How can I turn on Facebook integration in iOS 6 without syncing w/Calendar/Contacts?

Just updated to iOS 6.  I would like to turn on Facebook integration but I don't want to sync with my contacts and calendars.  It seems that there are options to turn this off but only after you've signed in to Facebook -- and you get the warning that signing into Facebook merges your contacts and calendars!  Is there any way to turn off the merger in advance?

You'd do that if you wanted to add in all your contacts from facebook - it makes it useful to find out who's using other apps - 4 square - whatsapp, facetime etc.   I had many facebook contacts that I don't call, however if they are using other things, I might be talking to them.  So yeah, I decided to bring in all my facebook contacts.  It has created a mess that I'm trying to clean up though.  The mess is that I have a lot of duplicate contacts ( a facebook contact of Mary Smith and a contact on my phone of Aunt Mary).  I know that when I go and edit one of the 2, there is an option to link the 2, which will then merge the data (adds email info, birthday, facebook contact info, twitter etc) but it doesn't delete one of the contacts.  It should give an option to delete one of the merged contacts.. but it doesn't.  I'm not sure how to fix this.  I've been asking the boards here, but no solution has been given.
There has to be a way to do this (easily) that is

  • Cannot sync outlook calendars-contacts

    Hello,
I am having problems syncronizing calendar, contacts and to-do notes.
I am using PC Suite latest version (6.83.14.1) on a Win XP SP 2 with a Nokia N73. During the setup process of the synchronization, the program will not let me select outlook's folders. I have checked but microsoft outlook (2007 version) seems to be working fine.
To be honest I had tried before but I have never been able to sync the contacts, even when I only had the windows mail contacts.
I have tried what is being suggested in the forum, but it seems there is no way out and I need to update contacts and calendar on my phone-computer.

In the end for me the solution was in the mapi32.dll .
Eudora had changed it and the communication btw outlook and pc suite was not happening at all.
As Ed of http://www.bloged.co.uk/ suggested, I went to c:\Windows\system32\ and renamed the existing mapi32.dll to mapi32.old .
Then i ran fixmapi in the same folder, rebooted and made sure the new mapi32.dll was something written by Microsoft.

If you use Mozilla Thunderbird for reading emails, and Outlook for managing your contacts, notes and diary, there is a high probability that PC Suite synchronisation was broken because Microsoft's MAPI library (MAPI32.DLL) was replaced with one from Mozilla.

  • Can Sync Apps, Calendars, Contacts But Not Music/Video

    Hi all,
I have been syncing my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.1) very nicely with my iTunes 10 for a while now. New apps get reflected on iTunes, as do calendars and contacts. However, today, I tried to click 'Sync all Music' on iTunes and I am told that I have synced my iPhone to another library and then I had to erase and sync everything. I gather that that message means everything on my iPhone will be gone, which is obviously not something I want. Strangely, I have all my music in my iPhone.
I suspect this came about a few months ago when I tried to sync the iPhone with another computer. That worked to some extent, and then I switched back to my iMac. But by then I had updated the firmware to iOS 4.2.1 and started on a clean slate, so to speak. That probably explains why I have all my music on my iPhone. So it is very curious that I can sync my apps and not my music.
So my question is - are my apps being backed up nicely? If they are, I am willing to live with this situation until I get a fresh iPhone 5 and then sync everything afresh.
    Appreciate any comments, thank you.

I believe you may see this warning if you had your iPhone set to manually manage music and you change it to sync. When you do, I don't believe it does much other than check to see if there have been any changes to the list of media to keep on the phone since the last sync.
I could be wrong... but I believe this is the case.

  • HT4527 How to transfer iPhone content (playlists, notes, calendar, contacts) to a MBP's iTunes library after a crash where I had to reinstall everything?

I have a MBP and the hard drive crashed. I had to reinstall everything from zero. I didn't have a back-up of everything. Now my iTunes library does not recognize my iPhone and ask me to erase it to sync it. How can I transfer content from my iPhone to my MPB and rebuild iTunes library from my iPhone?

I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them.  Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
    Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions  to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder  BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other  way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

  • Can you have 2 iCloud accounts on one device, i would like to share photo stream with my wife but not calendar, contacts

How do you setup 2 icloud accounts on one phone.  I would like to do that to separate contacts/calendars from photo stream.  I have a shared photo library that i would like to be able to access from each phone.  How do you do it?
    Thanks.

I don't think there is a method cause when you have 2 iCloud account you double the memory given by them (5gb) and if you want more memory you have to pay so I don't think apple might have a loop in that :p bu if you want to share pics then you can always use luthoot enabled apps

  • Exchange vs. Outlook Sync for Calendar/Contacts

I currently sync my iPhone with Outlook 2007 calendar and contacts, and (with the notable exception of the 9.1 fiasco) it has been great.
This week, they migrated us to an Exchange server. I'm still syncing via USB (everything stayed with the same name in Outlook, so iTunes was fine) but am considering switching to Exchange for contacts and calendar (I don't use the email address on the exchange server on my iPhone - long story).
What I was hoping for is to find someone who has more familiarity with Exchange on iPhone to answer a few questions.
    1. If I setup Exchange on the iPhone, that means contact/calendar changes made in Outlook (to the exchange account) automatically update on the iPhone, right? Can I control how often this update happens? Does it use heavy data amounts every time, or just the updates? (In other words, if I add a phone number to a contact, does it send my whole contact list, or just that contact?)
    2. Is there any harm in leaving iTunes configured to sync to Outlook? Logically, it's syncing the same data (like I said, the pointers are to the exchange items), so I can't see if there's a reason to remove it. But at the same time, I don't want to mess up my contacts/calendar by leaving it on.
Any help or advice anyone can offer would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think I can answer your first question (assuming you're on iOS 4.0.1 like me
When using Exchange ActiveSync on the iPhone, you can independently set which of the following you want to sync: Mail, Contacts, Calendars. This means you could choose to sync mail and calendars, but not contacts (or any other combination of 1, 2, or all 3 services).
I have all 3 set to sync, and I find that any change I make to my inbox, contacts, or calendar, in either Outlook 2007 or on the phone itself, is generally synced the other direction within 30 seconds (sometimes as fast as 5 or 10 seconds). While I haven't done a controlled test of the data transmitted for each sync, I would be very surprised if it sends anything other than the actual changes.
So far, my experience with ActiveSync on the iPhone (for all of 2 weeks) has been quite positive. I can only think of 2 problems:
    1. When a meeting reminder displays on the phone, it gives me all 3 buttons (Accept, Reject, or Maybe) even though I had already accepted the invitation when I first added the meeting to my calendar.
    2. When adding an event to the calendar on the iPhone, it always sets the status to "Busy", even if I marked it as Free. I have to edit the event and re-save to get the status corrected.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes 11.1.3/iOS 7.0.3 how to sync (bookmarks, calendar, contacts) without using iCloud

Unfortunately we seem to have lost the ability to sync manually from a computer to a mobile device (iPad in my case) under iTunes 11.1.3/iOS 7.0.3. I am hoping and assuming that people at Apple will hear and see the need for it and correct this oversight in future updates.
Until then, is there a work-around for people like me who manage do not want to have their information stored on an iCloud server?
    Thanks,
    James

Thanks for the quick and useful reply Randers.
It will be good if (hopefully when) the functionality is returned to iTunes/iOS, but installing server is useful in the multitude of options that it opes up, so I followed your advice. I have my contacts syncing perfectly, but there is a problem with the calendar, so perhaps you can help please?
My working account is a standard user account, so I have had to use my admin account to set up the CardDAV and CalDaV servers. The problem is that the new calendar is blank. I'm probably missing something obvious, but how can I 'link' it to my calendars under my user account? There is no 'drag and drop' as there is for the contacts. If I try to set up a CalDAV service for my standard user account I get the error that the user cannot be verified.
Do you have any suggestions please?
    Thanks,
    James

  • Struggling to sync, match calendars, contacts and I need HELP!

    HI
    Please help me, techie people!
I received my iPhone 3G S yesterday (my first iPhone) and hardly got any sleep last night through trying to resolve some syncing issues. These are my problems:
All my contacts mixed up en route into my iPhone, so contacts have right mobile number, wrong home number, right email, wrong home address etc. It is all completely untrustworthy. I tried re-doing everything on my phone, but it all went back to what it was like. I did the same on my mac and then it still all returned mixed up. It's so frustrating it made me cry! (that doesn't happen often!).
Duplicates of my contacts keep appearing - again, have gone through, sorted it out, and then they all duplicate again (tried following other threads but it keeps happening.
My calendars don't seem to sync. I have tried following instructions on different threads in this topic but still not right. All I want is for things I put onto my iPhone calendar to sync with my mobileme 'cloud' and then appear on my home mac, and things I put onto my home mac to sync with my cloud and then appear on my iPhone. This just isn't happening correctly.
Oh, and my sms stopped working, although following another thread I think I've managed to sort this (for now...).
I'm so, so disappointed. It's absolutely NOT been a 'straight out of the box' experience. I have reset the iPhone TWICE but it's still going belly-up.
Please advise me. I'm not an Apple techie but I'm not a complete technophobe and clearly something is going wrong. I can't currently trust any of the data. I was so excited about my new phone but now I am really, really fed up. And tired!
If anybody can provide me with a fail-safe, step by step idiot's guide to how I achieve the synching, that would be brilliant.
    Thank you!!

Your iPhone carrier can probably move your contacts.
As far as your pics, if you can get them off your Pantech and onto your computer, use iTunes to sync them to your iPhone.  The other option is to email/text them from your Pantech to your iPhone, if possible.

  • TS2776 iPhone 5, Outlook 2013, Windows 7.0 64-bit.  Every time I connect my phone to my computer via USB, iTunes opens with the "accept our terms and service" then deselects the boxes checked under the INFO tab to sync my calendars, contacts...help?

I am connecting my iPhone 5 to my Windows computer via USB.  This should open iTunes and start the sync process.  Instead of iTunes opening, I get the iTunes service agreement to which I must agree.  Then iTunes opens and begins to back up my phone.  It is syncing my photos and music (although the music thing is another nightmare), but under the "info" tab in iTunes, the boxes of which functions I want to sync are no longer selected.  Hence the computer and the phone are not sharing information.  When I select the functions I want to sync, I must either replace or merge.  If I replace, I lose the information I recently put into my phone.  If I choose to merge, then I have duplicates of everything.
How can I resolve this problem? Why is iTunes acting like it doesn't know my phone?
I'm using an iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4, Windows 7 64-bit, Outlook 13, and the must current version of iTunes (because I've removed and reinstalled it twice already).
    Thanks for any help!
    Christine

After you'd run the Configure Classic instance did you run in the statement as stated in 'Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) Part Number E10421-05'?
    java -classpath ORACLE_HOME_DIR\discoverer\lib\disco-config.jar;ORACLE_HOME_DIR\oui\jlib\OraInstaller.jar;ORACLE_HOME_DIR\opmn\lib\iasprovision.jar -Djava.library.path=ORACLE_HOME_DIR\oui\lib\win32 oracle.disco.install.config.DiscoUtil -oraclehome ORACLE_HOME_DIR -tnsadmin TNS_ADMIN_DIR
I've completed an installation with the same steps (although I ran the config.bat file in as_1/bin rather than from the program files list and also I've the jrockit jdk installed)
    I've found that this fails with the error;
INFO: This tool works only on Windows Platform. Exiting the program
Which is strange considering this is Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
DISCO is running in the EM console but the URLs (as defined in the installation summary report) do not resolve properly. I was just interested to hear if you're installation was the same, this isn't the first installation I've done, they've all had a similar issue

I have just purchased a Z30 and need to get my contacts and calendar to sync from Outlook 2010 using USB.  Setup of Link 1.2.3.56 worked well and shows account on the Z30.   As soon as I try to manually sync from Link, I receive a message that Link has stopped working.  Has anyone experienced the same problem and found a solution or have ideas where to look for solution?

I faced such problem earlier with z10 , reinstalling the link help me though.

  • Unable to sync Mail/Calendar/Contacts with Outlook 2013

I'm using the latest version of iCloud Control Panel to sync with Outlook 2013 on Windows 8, but I don't have the option to. Where there should be a checkbox on the Control Panel for Mail, Contacts, Calendars etc. there is just a message saying that these are 'available at iCloud.com'. I've searched through iCloud.com and can see no way to change this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Control Panel, with no effect. I have checked Outlook Add-in management and the iCloud Add-in is active.
Does anybody have any idea what's happening?

I Installed office 2013 64bit on W8 64bit with icloud 2.1.1 (2 email account as imap) and everything works ok !
