IPod not updating track info

My third generation iPod isn't updating my track info (ie if I play a track on my ipod, the play count and last played doesn't get updated- on the ipod itself or when i synch with my mac.) Any ideas?

Thanks so much for the response!
Yes, I'm sure it's on auto update.
As for where I am checking that the ipod isn't updating..well, the recently played smartplaylist isn't updating when viewed on the ipod (it does change when synched with itunes, but never displays any songs played on the ipod). Also, if I'm correct when i plug my ipod into the computer and look in the ipod library I should see that any track played on my ipod reflects that it was changed then. It simply doesn't.

  • *** is up with itunes not updating my info??

*** is up with itunes not updating my info. the problem I am still having after 3 weeks is I can not update my credit card/debit card info because itunes says my billing information does not match my bank records. I know this is lunacy because the info I put in is completely correct, i even contacted my bank 3 times to make sure they had my info correct. so obviously something is completely ******** with itunes/iphone in which I cant update my info. **** I cant even download a free app, because it says my info has changed, and I need to change it. when i do, it gives me that stupid message about my info not matching my bank records. Something needs to be done asap.

does itunes support ever respond to these forums??
Since these are user-to-user forums, no they don't.

  • Updating Track Info on iPod 160 When Manual Syncing

So I bought the 160 model this past weekend. Come to read there are so many issues with it but I'm gonna try to stick it out for an update.
Anyway, question regarding manual syncing. I have over 3000 tracks on iTunes that I am going thru, cataloging and changing their names. Digitizing all my vinyl. A lot easier to walk into a party and DJ with 2 folder size cd wallets instead of the usual 10 crates of records. Anyway, I want to know, if I am managing my music manually on my iPod, if I change the name of a track on iTunes, do I have to add it again to my ipod and delete the original version or will it recognize the change somehow and update the existing track?

if you have "manually manage my ipod" option checked, everytime you change anything to your tracks in itunes library, you have to drag and drop them back on your ipod, it will not update ipod cos you have it manually set ... it will also keep the original track on your ipod and create a new duplicate one .... what i do is go thru each track make all the changes i need and then clean my ipod totally then transfer back the tracks in library back on ipod.

  • New Ipod not updating or been seen by Itunes

Yesterday I bought a new black Ipod Nano to replace the one that got broken in a freak accident. I plugged in the new Nano into my PC, go the popup stating the software on the Ipod needed to be updated. So I went ahead and ran the Ipod Updater. Then distear struck. During the update process, my PC got restarted. My Ipod got rebooted during this time. Now it will not Update/Restore or even be seen by Itunes. It shows up as a drive under Explorer (E:). While it is plugged in the PC's USB port, it displayes the "Do Not Disconnect" icon, however no updates are happeing. When it is not plugged in, I can access the menu on the Ipod. I have went through all of the "Five Rs", AND when that did not help; followed the directions in the article "Ipod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716 but nothing has changed. After uninstalling Quicktime/iTunes/iPod Updater, restarting my PC, clearing TEMP folders, restarting my PC again, then reinstalling the latest Quicktime/iTunes/iPod Updater, then restarting my PC again (getting bit tedious with all the restarts), I still cannot update my iPod Nano or transfer music to it. HELP! Right now my Nano is just a brand new 270 Euro paperweight.

    Xinh,
Since you was in the middle of updating when the PC rebooted, your iPod software is corrupt, even tho this artical talks about seeing the apple logo and the iPod not turning on, it covers damaged iPod software which you have to have cuz the update never completed before your PC rebooted
Just follow the instructions and the link "Disk Mode" in the artical to see how to put the iPod into disk mode http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61584

  • IPod not updating! HELP!

I need help desparately! Whenever I plug in my iPod to update new songs that I have downloaded, iTunes shows that it is updating, but once iTunes shows that it has been updated and I disconnect my iPod, the new songs are not on the iPod! The songs are still saved in my library, but they will not update onto the iPod.
Also, two similar warnings continue to come up on my computer:
    iTunes.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\TempFile is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.
    AND
    a30:iTunes.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\PhotosFolderPrefs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run te Chkdsk utility.

    Ack...Ok
This first article deals with the iTunes.exe corrupt file and how to fix it as well as addressing your seconds question.

Basically, among other things you need to download the latest iPod Updater. This article will elaborate on what you need to do. Good Luck and come back if you have more questions or problems.

  • IPod not updating with iTunes

When I plug my iPod into the computer, it is not updating with iTunes.
The software version on iTunes is 1.2.1 and is the same on my iPod.
I did have a relapse last evening, as my iPod got confused. It stalled, so I had to drain the battery and recharg it. When I plugged it in today to the computer, it is not updating with iTunes - and I did update it to 7.1 version of iTunes, but the software version still says 1.2.1.
It also says my ipod is up to date with iTunes.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Donnie

  • Change_connection does not update entire info about application

The procedure change_connection does not update the entire info of the about application window. When I change my connection the connect string in the about application window still shows the old connection string.
    I added the line g_connect_string := get_application_property(CONNECT_STRING);
to the procedure change_connection between the lines
-- Reset user preference settings for new user connection
    qms$user_prefs.init;
    and the lines:
-- The menu must be replaced because the new user might have other security privileges
Now the connect string will change in the about window.

    Mark,
This has been implemented in Headstart PATCH6530_for_6i and PATCH6530_for_9i.

  • Restored ipod not updating entire itunes music library

after restoring ipod to factory conditions, the ipod does not "update" all the music in my itunes music library. instead, both the ipod and itunes freeze. what needs to be done to complete an update?

Typo correction on my topic post: I realized the only music I could see in my library was what was updated off of my new laptop.

  • IPod not Updating Properly

when i upload a cd onto itunes and it goes into my library, i plug into my ipod and let it connect and hit upload ipod and it acts like it's uploading but when it finishes, i go to my ipod and see if the cd uploaded onto the ipod and it hasnt.
      Windows XP   Video iPod

well I did those steps without it plugged in the first time and nothing happened at all and then I did them the second time with the ipod connected to the computer and it worked. What should I have checked on my preferences for my Ipod then? Currently, "enable disk use" isn't checked.
And something odd just happened when I got out of the preferences window. A box which hasn't popped up before just now came up saying about another library. A couple weeks ago, my friend took my Ipod and hooked it up to her computer to see if she could get her songs from her library onto my Ipod but when a box came up saying something about deleting the curreny songs from my ipod, she cancelled the entire thing. Could that have anything to do with why my ipod wont update now?
Currently in my disk management I see:
just my C drive and that's it

  • Ipod not updating! -And no error comes up, so i dont know the problem

I can't put songs on my ipod, nor can I delete them. I've had the ipod for a year now, and i'm using the same method as i always have to put the songs on and to delete them... so i know how to do it and everything.
But this past few weeks i can't delete nor put songs on my ipod. Why is this?
I've observed that when I do delete them, the name still remains on my ipod. However when I press the track to play, it shows theh name and details on the screen and then without playing a second of it, it skips to the next track.
After playing around with itunes and my computer for a while trying to fix the problem, I got a warning message that said "ipod could not be updated, unkown error, error (-53)". Does anyone know what this (-53) might mean? it might help me on the right track. And then again it might be irrelevant because i got it from playing around with the comp...
I really need help because my ipod is my favorite possession, im an audiophile, and I don't have enough money for repairs or a new ipod

Thank you Mitch for the site!!!! I used one of the options and it worked!!!! i've never been happier
To all the others out there whose Ipods are having the same problem, go to the link above!! I used the chkdsk utility thing. Took only 3 minutes

  • IPod not updating cuz I'm not authorized to play some songs on my computer

I updated to the newest Itunes version, but my ipod won't update with the songs that I purchased from Itunes. It did update the songs that I burned from a CD.
The error message is: Some of the songs in the ITunes music library were not copied to your IPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer.
I went to advanced --> Deauthorize computer, and tried to click off of the top setting, which is "Deauthorize Computer for Music Store Account" but could not click off of that.
    Your help is much appreciated.

  • IPod not updating iTunes statistics

I just noticed that my ipod isn't updating the play count, last played or rating changes in my itunes library. It's not clearing the unplayed flag on my podcasts either. Did I accidentally turn something off?

Is your iPod set for automatic updates, or manual update mode?
Those stats won't update back to iTunes unless you're in automatic update mode.
