IPOD not working at all - help!

I have a 60gb IPOD photo. Recently, about a week ago, it stopped working - was frozen on a playlist but would not play or go back to the menu. I have tried the 5 r's and now the ipod is stuck on 'do not disconnect'. It is currently plugged into my usb port but neither itunes nor my PC are recognising the ipod. How can I unplug my ipod without damaging it and how can I make it work????!!! Please help, I'm desperate.

Have you tried to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod?

  • Ipod not working, tried all suggestions i could find none worked

I have a 20 gb ipod that my mom got from sam's club, there is an hp thing on the back so guess that means it's and hp ipod and not a straight apple ipod which my brother says is bad, it came with a griffen itrip and a griffen powerpod car charger, that's all the background about it that i know.
so i was listening to it today and went to change the song and it didn't play so i figured i must have paused it accidentally, so i hit the play button again, and it changed songs..so then i decided to turn it of and turn it back on again, and it didn't turn back on, it started making wierd clicking noises, so i plugged it into a charger to see if that would fix it and that didn't work either, then i plugged it into my computer and it didn't show up on my computer or in itunes, so i went to this website and started looking around, i did the whole hold down select and menu for 6 second thing and the apple sign showed up, but nothing else happened so i tried to restore it, but the updater wo't regonize it, so then i downloaded the new updater, and it says that it won't mount, so then i did all the stuff i could understand on the "what to do it your ipod won't mount" page i tried forcing it into disk mode like it said to but i wouldn't go, then it just kinda went into disk mode by itself, but the updater still didn't recognize it, so then i tried downloading the new itunes and all that stuff and tried removing the itunes software from my computer, and i guess i did b/c i can't find it now... and now my ipod stopped making the noise, but it's random displaying either the apple symbol, the DO NOT DISCONNECT symbol and that folder with the exclamation point, i tried all the stuff under " folder with an exclamation point" page as well nothing has worked...
    what do i do?

    Hi ...
The problem is the iPod, not your Mac.
Place the iPod in recovery mode > If you can't update or restore your iOS device
If that won't work, contact Apple >  iPod touch - Apple Support

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • Ipod not working at all...all of a sudden

I had my 80 gb Ipod video, 5th generation for about 2 weeks. It has been working fine up until yesterday, when all of a sudden I was in the middle of a song and I pressed menu to go back, but it wouldnt go. So I simply restarted it, and it was working fine. Then today, the same thing happened, except this time it wouldnt restart. So I pressed menu again, and about 30 seconds later it responded to my command. Then I would press several buttons, and it would take about 30 seconds before it woudl do what I would press. So I finally decided to let it sit for a while and maybe "process" or whatever it needed to do. So i decided to go to shuffle songs, and it (after a little while) went to the now playing section and showed the first song and the play button up top, but there was no audio, and the second counter wasnt going, however it was shuffling through the songs every once in a while... So I decided to turn it off, and it wouldnt turn off, and after holding the off button and releasing, the battery monitor would drop significantly. So after several attempts to shut it off and try different things, I decided to leave it alone for a little while until I got home. I got home and it was off, and I turned it on and the little sad face thing came on telling me to come here. So Im hoping someone can help me. I plugged it into my computer, and ITunes does not recognize it, neither does my windows explorer system. I tried the 5 "r's" and they arent helping. I took it back to circuit city, and he said I would have to contact customer support or whatever, but its to late for that since they are closed. I am hoping one of you can help. Feel free to ask any questions, I am trying to be as descriptive as possibnle, but I am new to the ipod, so I dont know alot. Thanks for your help
    Jeff

I tried what the page said previously and even again, and it hasnt changed anything....that page shows the ipod in the menu...mine is not even in the menu, it just keeps rebooting and going into the sad face. Its doing that even when I am not pressing anything, and it also does that when I try to force it into disk mode. Thanks for your tiem...

What shuld i do? (Sorry if someone already had this problem and it was solved, i can't find it if it has happened.)

the weird thing is , after I changed the drive letter , now whenever I connect my video ipod itunes runs automatically .. as if it recognizes the ipod , and yet it still shows none connected !
and when I connect the shuffle , itunes gives me that "do you want to replace the files you have with the ones on the library " thing .... I click no to keep the files I have .. after that it supposed to show me the shuffle , but it does not ! still no ipod connected !

  • IPhone 4s not working at all, HELP!

    Hi,
I am fixing an iphone 4s (32 gb sprint) its out of warrenty and it just stoped working i replaced the dock connecter and battery and nothing happend [and i charged it for 20 mins]..... I just hope its not a logic board failure... anyone have an idea what can I do, Thanks!

Try to charge for longer than 20 minutes with the charger/cable it came with from a wall outlet. If nothing then try a hard reset (Home key + power for 30 seconds).  If the device still will not turn on then take out the replacement parts, install the original parts, call AppleCare and get it replaced for $199 with a new unit.  Then go back and either return/sell the parts you used in an attempt to fix the device but instead destroyed even further.

  • My ipod touch is not working at all pls HELP, my ipod touch is not working at all pls HELP

My iPod touch is not working at all,i did everything i could and still it doesnt work,i live in the philippines my idea of solving this problem is to send it back at Apple California we do have service centre here but i dont trust them,i dont know what to do,I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

Quite possibly.  It wouldn't hurt to try another one if at all possible. If you have to, borrow one from a friend.  It could also be due to debris in the docking port of your iPod.  Take a look on the inside of the port and make sure there is no lint or anything like that.  Also look for broken pins as they would definitely cause connection issues as well.

You may need to put the iPod into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPod and re-sync its content.
